PRODUCT INFORMATION
The SA CYCLONE Filtration Unit is a versatile portable unit that allows you to filter extracted air
in multiple different applications. It is simply connected inline with flexible ducting and an Air Mover
and as the air moves through it removes particles, odours and/or dust as relevant, expelling clean air
from the output. The unit is also suitable for use in Hazardous Areas Zones 1 and 2 as it has undergone
an ignition hazard assessment. It is fully compatible with the SA CYCLONE Air Mover and Anti-Static
Ducting, meaning a complete temporary ventilation and filtration system can be created using the different
elements.
This user manual covers the following products:-

BEFORE USE - IMPORTANT!
This SA CYCLONE Filtration Unit must not be taken into a Zone 0 area.
The ignition hazards have been assessed and mitigated through design and filter selection to
allow operation in zone 1 and 2, if used in zone 1 or 2 the G4 ATEX Panel Filter must be fitted.
Contact SA Equip if you need to purchase this filter.
When used in conjunction with the SA CYCLONE EX Air Mover it is recommended to operate it with the
Air Mover downstream of the Filtration Unit in the clean air.
When operating in zone 1 or 2 the unit must be suitably bonded to an external earth point using studs
provided on the unit end panels. Check integrity of internal earth connections prior to use including EX
panel filter earth connection.
DURING USE
SETTING UP AND OPERATING
THE SA CYCLONE AIR MOVER
Check that the Filtration Unit is safe for use and has no
defects, paying attention to the air passage, filters, lid &
duct adaptors.
Position and set up the Filtration Unit according to the
previous instructions and ensure it is on an even and flat
surface.
If ducting is required, it should be fitted to the appropriate
size duct adaptor which is normally pre-fitted to the
Filtration Unit, but otherwise should be secured at all
5 fixings points using the fasteners provided (torque
setting 3.2Nm).
Ducting used should be SA CYCLONE Anti-static Ducting following the separate instructions provided.
It should be connected securely to the duct adaptor with the fixing strap installed on the ducting.
The equipotential bonding lead from the ducting should be connected to one of the 2 earth bolts installed
on the filtration unit.
If the Filtration Unit gets damaged during use it must be immediately disconnected and removed to
a safe area for inspection and test. Correct use of the equipment should help to ensure that it is not
damaged. If you would like more information on ancillary products, please contact the Sales Team on

5
GENERAL SAFETY
This equipment must only be used for its intended purpose and should not be used as a step or seat.
Ensure the unit is set up so the air flow is not blocked or restricted.
Ensure the unit is used in the correct filtration configuration for which it was required i.e. do not use a
dust configuration for a welding application.
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure they have assessed the risk to health from the noise levels in
the area they are working in and take appropriate measures of protection including ear protection when
required.
MANUAL HANDLING
The filtration unit may be pushed along level ground using the castors provided or lifted with slings
placed around the underside in a safe manner.
When moving with castors ensure all brakes are off and then reengaged when the unit is moved to its
required location.
Ensure slings used are rated to the load to be lifted – 100 kg with carbon filtration, 50 kg without carbon
filtration.
INSPECTION &
MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES
The routine inspection points detailed in the
before and during use section shall be carried
out each time the product is used and if there
are any defects, unexpected noise or vibrations,
the product should be removed to a safe area
for inspection and test.
The Filtration Unit should be cleaned when necessary using a damp cloth. If necessary, use neutral soap.
No detergents or solvents are allowed. Do not allow dirt and/or dust to accumulate on the equipment.
No user modifications are permitted and only original spares from SA Equip must be used. The use of
any other parts will invalidate any warranty and the certification and could compromise the safety and
functionality of the equipment.

6
CHANGING FILTERS
Inlet and outlet pressure should be monitored periodically with a suitable differential pressure meter to
determine percentage filter blockage - manufacturer recommended start and final pressures for each
configuration are shown below.
Note differential pressure monitoring is only suitable for measuring particulate filter blockage and
cannot be used to determine when carbon filters require replacement. For this, suitable gas detection
equipment should be used to compare inlet and outlet concentrations of the gasses being filtered. As
the ratio Concentration Out/Concentration In approaches 1 the carbon filters are becoming less effective
and will require replacing when the outlet concentration is above the predetermined maximum allowable
value.
When changing filters the ventilation system must be offline and disconnected from the mains to avoid
restart without filtration in place.
Open the unit in area sheltered from wind and rain.
Gloves, overalls and a dust mask should be worn during filter changes.
The Filtration Unit MUST ALWAYS have the ATEX Panel Filter installed.
PARTICULATE FILTERS
To change the particulate bag and/or panel filter open the lid and secure open using
the integrated lid stay.
Slide the old filter out of their respective mounting channels.
Slide new filters into their respective mounting channels ensuring they are facing the correct direction
of flow, rubber seals should face downstream on both filters. The EX panel filter lid seal should be facing
upwards towards the lid.
Reconnect EX panel filter earth cable before closing lid.
