INSTALLATION
1. This appliance is designed to be free standing only, and should not be
recessed or built-in.
2. Place your appliance on a floor that is strong enough to support the
appliance when it is fully loaded. To level your appliance, adjust
the front leveling leg at the bottom of the appliance.
3. Allow 5 inches (13 cm) of space between the back and sides of the appli-
ance, which allows for proper air circulation
4. Locate the appliance away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove,
heater, radiator, etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and
heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Extreme cold ambient
temperatures may also cause the appliance not to perform properly.
5. Avoid locating the appliance in moist areas.
6. Plug the appliance into an exclusive, properly installed-grounded wall
outlet. DO NOT under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground)
prong from the power cord.
HOW TO USE
Setting the Temperature Control for each Zone
1. Your wine cellar has an electronic temperature control on the front of the
unit. The two compartments are independently controlled. The upper
compartment has a range of 7-12°C and the lower compartment 12-18°C.
2. When you first turn the unit on, the LCD will display the ambient room
temperature. After you select your preferred cabinet temperatures, the set
temperature numerals will flash and then revert to the original cabinet
temperatures. The unit will then gradually work toward the temperature
that you have set it at. The LCD will display the internal cabinet temperature
of the upper compartment on the top of the display and the internal cabinet
temperature of the lower compartment on the bottom of the display.
4
SAL7-572 Booklet Salton Wine Cellar WC-2031_EN VF.qxd 18/07/07 15:56 Page 4

3. Pressing the up-arrow ( ) temperature button on the display will increase
the temperature in 1° increments and pressing the down-arrow ( )
button will decrease the temperature in 1° increments. The left side of the
control panel will allow you to adjust the temperature in the upper
zone and the right side of the control panel will allow you
to adjust the temperature in the lower zone. NOTE: The actual
cabinet temperature in a thermoelectric unit is dependant on the ambient
room temperature. When the ambient temperature is below the set
temperature of the appliance, it will not operate until the ambient
temperature increases to that above the set temperature. Thermoelectric
wine cellars do not use a compressor and therefore create less noise and
vibration. The minimized vibration will prevent bubbles from forming in
stored wine, which helps to maintain its quality. These units offer a high
level of reliability, lower maintenance, more accurate temperature control
and an environmentally-friendly operation as no CFC or HCFC-type
refrigerants are used in the cooling process.
Shelving & Storage
1. The bottle racks are plated in order to maintain their appearance and
for ease of cleaning.
2. The unit can store a total of 18 standard size bottles – 6 in the upper
compartment and 12 in the lower compartment. Many bottles may differ
in size and dimensions. As such, the actual number of bottles you may be
able to store may vary.
3. Ideal wine storage temperatures:
RED 16 – 18°C
WHITE 10 – 15°C
SPARKLING 7 – 9°C
ROSE 9 – 11°C
Interior Light
Your wine cellar has an interior light with and on/off switch for your viewing
convenience. Under normal operation, it is best for the light to remain off.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or
tripping over a long cord. Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions,
it is strongly recommended that you do not use an extension cord with this appliance.
However, if you must use an extension cord it is absolutely necessary that it be a
UL/CUL-Listed, 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord having a grounding
type plug and outlet and that the electrical rating of the cord be 115 volts and at least
10 amperes. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the
counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
