HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades
and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a
qualified electrician. DO NOT modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.
INTRODUCTION
Your new wine cellar has no compressor and as such is environmentally
friendly, needing no special disposal precautions other than those listed in the
Safeguards section of this manual.
Cooling is done using ‘superconductor technology’. This uses the ambient air
around the unit which is cooled when drawn in. The warm air is exhausted
through the vents. ‘Superconductor’ wine cellars create less noise and vibration
than compressor units. The minimized vibration will prevent bubbles from
forming in stored wine, which helps to maintain its quality. These units offer a
high level of reliability, lower maintenance, more accurate temperature control
and an environmentally friendly operation as no CFC or HCFC type
refrigerants are used in the cooling process.
BOTTLE STORAGE
Many bottles differ in size and dimensions. As such the actual number of
bottles you may be able to store may vary. This unit will store 16 standard
bottles.

- back 5” (12.7 cm)
4. Place the Wine Cellar on a flat level surface that is strong enough to

DO NOT place the appliance in direct sunlight, this could affect the acrylic
coating. DO NOT place the appliance near sources of heat such as a
stove, heater, radiator, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, etc.
DO NOT place the appliance in a moist humid area.
5. This Wine Cellar uses superconductor refrigeration technology and is not
designed for storage in hot area like garages, warehouses or outdoors
since it is designed to operate at a maximum of 17°C/30°F below the
ambient temperature.

6. Extreme cold ambient temperatures may also cause the appliance not to
perform properly.
7. To help with door closure, position leveling legs with a 1/8" (3 mm) tilt to
the back. Adjust the leveling legs by turning clockwise to raise and
counterclockwise to lower.
8. Gently slide the racks into the unit.
9. Plug the Wine Cooler into the outlet, set the temperature (see the How to
Use section) and allow the appliance to cool down for 2 – 3 hours before
placing items in the cavity.
HOW TO USE
Guidelines for cooling wines are as follows:
NOTE: The temperature range for this wine cooler is 8 - 18°C (46.4 – 64.4°F),
which is at the top of the recommended range for sparkling wines.
1. The Wine Cellar has an electronic Temperature Control and can be set from
8° - 18°C (46.4° - 64.4°F). The temperature display can be switched from
Fahrenheit to Celsius by touching the F/C Button.
2. Touch the Power Button for 3 seconds to start your wine cooler.
3. IMPORTANT: To use the Raise or Lower Temperature
Buttons the control panel must be unlocked. Touch the Raise and
Lower temperature buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to unlock the
control panel.
4. Touch the Set Button to set the temperature. NOTE: The Control
Panel will lock automatically 12 minutes after the last time a button has
been pressed.
5. To increase the temperature, touch the Raise Temperature Button .
To lower the temperature, touch the Lower Temperature Button .
The display will increase or decrease in 1° increments when touching the
Raise Temperature or Lower Temperature Buttons.
5
Red Wines 14 – 18°C 57 - 65°F
Dry White Wines 9 - 14°C 49 - 58°F
Rose Wines 10 - 11°C 51 - 53°F
Sparkling Wines 5 - 9°C* 40 – 49°F*
Booklet_WC-2091_ENG.qxd:Salton Booklet 7/28/10 4:25 PM Page 5

6. The actual internal temperature in a ‘Superconductor’ appliance is affected
by the ambient room temperature. The Wine Cooler should be placed
where the ambient temperature is between 20 - 26°C (67 - 78°F). If
the ambient temperature is above or below the recommended
temperatures, the internal temperatures may fluctuate and the range of
8 – 18°C (46.4 – 64.4°F) may not be reached.
7. The Light Switch inside the unit can be activated by touching the Interior
Light Button on the control panel. Under normal operation it is
best for the light to remain off.
8. When storing mostly red wines set the temperature according to the
Guidelines on page 5. The Red Wine Indicator will light up in red beside
the Display Window.
9. When storing White, Rose or Sparkling wines set the temperature
according to the Guidelines on page 5 and the White Wine Indicator will
light up in blue.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
• After a power failure, the control functions will be locked for
approximately 5 minutes. To reset, after 5 minutes, touch the Power
Button and start operation as normal. If you do not reset the
temperature the unit will automatically turn on and revert to the factory
default setting of 12.2°C (54°F).
• Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not
affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of
times the door is opened. If the power is going to be off for a longer
period of time, you need to take the proper steps to protect the contents.
• One characteristic of superconductor appliances is the length of time it
requires to recover from having the door opened and shut frequently. It
may be necessary to wait longer for the temperature to return to its
former level once the door has been opened for too long. This is normal
for this type of appliance.
• If the light has been turned on, it will automatically turn off after 10
minutes. To turn it back on, touch the Light Button on the
control panel.

The appliance should always be plugged into it own individual electrical outlet to
prevent overloading of house wiring circuits. Overloading of house wiring circuits
could cause a fire hazard if they overheat.
It is recommended that you do not connect your wine cooler to extension cords. If
the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an
outlet near the appliance. If you must use an extension cord, it must have a rating at
least as high as indicated on the appliance. Please ensure that it is an approved 3
wire grounded type appliance extension cord
