timeseticon alsohourdigitwill flash.Press
Tuning up/downbutton tosetthe hourthen
press TimeSetbutton againtosetthe minute.Press
TimeSetbutton againtofinalizetimesetting.The
clock will startfrom0second.

Alarmtime(Standby)set
Tosetthe alarmonlywhen radioisoff.
Press Standbybutton ,displayalarmicon also
lastalarmtimewill appear.Press Standbybutton
againformorethan 2secondsuntil displayalarm
icon
alsolastalarmtimeflashes.Press tuning UP/DOWN
button tosetthe alarmhourthen press Standby
button againtosetthe minute.Press Standby
button againtofinalizeAlarmtimeset. Displaywill
be back torealtimeafteralarmtimesetisdone.
Alarmicon will appearon the displayindicating in
Alarm(standby)status.
When alarmison,press anypushbuttonstoswitch
itoff and back toAlarmstatus.The alarmbuzzerwill
lastfor3minutesbeforeitisswitched off.
Radiooperation
Tuning the station
Turnon the radiobypressing POWERbutton ,
selectdesired radioband bypressing BAND button
.UseTuning UP/DOWNbutton totune instations.
Foran automaticstation search,press or
button until frequency displaystartsadvancing on it
own.Then releasethe button.
The tuning function will stop automaticallywhen a
powersignalfromastation isfound .The search
can be broken off bypressing the button forthe
oppositedirection.

Manualstation tuning
If the transmission frequency ofadesired station is
known,manualtuning isadvisable.
Press the Tuning UP/DOWNbutton intermittentlyuntil
the desired frequency isreached.
The tuning incrementsare:
FM:50 kHz
MW(AM):9kHzand also10 kHz.
LW:9kHz(withLWversion only)
Adjusting theantenna
a)FMband
Extend the telescopicantenna all the wayand
swivelforbestreception.
b)MW(AM)band
Rotatethe receiverforbestreception.
Storing stations(Memory)
Overall 16 FMband stationsand 9MW(AM)band
stationscan be stored viaMEMObutton and
PRESET+/-buttons.
Tune inthe desired station asdescribed above,then
press MEMObutton formemory.Displaymemoand 01
will flashtosuggestyou tostorestation on PRESET1
(you mayselectyourPRESETno.byusing PRESET
+/-button)then press MEMObutton again,display
memoryslotswill showpresetno.indicating the
station being stored.

If all the PRESETSbeing stored already,displaywill
showFUL.(FMband)orFULL (MWband),inthis
caseifyou still requiretostorethe station,press
MEMObutton again,the previousPRESETstation
will be deleted and replacewiththe newstation.
Recall thePRESETstation
Simplyturnon the POWER,selectthe required band
and using PRESET+/-button foryourdesired
PRESETstations.
PRESET(Memory)exchange
You mayexchange the PRESETforyourownediting
purpose.
Recall the station,and press MEMObutton then
PRESET+/-button tothe required newpreset, then
press MEMObutton again.The presetstationswill be
then exchanged.
Forexample,ifyou liketoexchange PRESET3and
PRESET6,recallPRESET3,pressMEMOandPRESET
+/-tothe desired 6then press MEMObutton again.
ThePRESET3becomesPRESET6andPRESET6
becomesPRESET3.
If you liketoexchange PRESET3toblankpreset
position 9,recall PRESET3,press MEMOand PRESET
+/-tothe 9then press MEMObutton again.The
PRESET3becomesPRESET9andoriginalPRESET3
becomesblank.

Automemorythestations
Turnon radiopower,press tuning UP/DOWNbuttons
atthe sametimeformorethan 2seconds,display
automemowill flash,the radiowill automemorythe
stationsitcan find fromcurrentlanded frequency
until memoryisfull.
ClearPresetstation
Turnon the power,selectthe required PRESET
station tobe deleted bypressing PRESET+/-button,
press MEMObutton formorethan 2second until
memoand deleteflash,press MEMObutton againto
clearthe presetstation.
Setting thesleeptimer(autoshutoff)
The sleep timerwill automaticallyswitchoff the radio
afterapresettimehaselapsed.
1.Press and continue toholddownthe POWER
button ,the displaywill cyclethrough the
availablesleep time90-60-30-90.Releasethe
POWERbutton when the required autoshutoff
timeappearsinthe display.
2.Tocancelthe sleep function,press the POWER
button again.

MW(AM)tuning step
The initialtuning step on MWstep issetat9kHz
everytune,howeveriftravelintoNorthernAmerica
(Canada and USA )wheretuning step is10 kHz
tuning step.You havetochange the tuning step on
MWband.
Turnon the power,switchtoMWband,press
PRESET+/-button atthe sametimeuntil display
showsAM9kand 9kisflashing.Atthismoment
press Tuning UPkey,displaywill appearAM10k
with10kflashing.Press Tuning Downkeyagainto
confirmthe setting.
Tochange back to9kHztuning step,usethe same
waybutuseTuning Downbutton tochange to9kHz
tuning step.
Lightbutton
Wheneveryou requiretoilluminatethe Display,push
the LIGHTbutton .The lightwill go off automatically
7secondsafterlastoperation tothe radio.
Lock button
Topreventanyofthe function keyfrombeing
touched byaccident, turnthe lock switchon the right
ofthe radiomark.The LOCKindicatorappearson
the display.Toreleasethe lock,movethe LOCK
switchdown,disappearsfromthe display.
Note:
The lock switchdoesnotlock the earphones/speaker
switchalsovolumecontrol.

CT(Clock Time)–Clock autoadjustment
Besidesthe possibilitytosetthe clock manually,with
the helpofRDS-CTfunction,the correcttimecan be
setwiththe autoclock adjustmentbutton.
When button ispressed once,the CT-function
ison and displayisflashing and when the CT-
function can setthe time,the will stop flashing and
showing continuouslyuntil the button onceagain
ispressed.Ofcourse,the CT-function can work
undercondition thatRDSsignaliswell received.
Thereforewhen isshowing inthe display,you
knowthe clock timeiscorrectadjusted atthe
moment.
PS (ProgramService)- Automaticstationsname
showing in8charactersAslong asaFM-station
hasRDSsystemand PS function,the station name
will appear.
Howeverwhen you recall apresetstation,you will
see firstfrequency afewsecondsbeforethe
displayshowsstation name.
TA(TrafficAnnouncement)- Automaticselection of
trafficinformation Thisfunction searchesand stands
byforatrafficinformation using TP(TrafficProgram)
and TA(TrafficAnnouncement)data.
Using thisfunction,the radioautomaticallysearches
the trafficinformation fromthe station you are
listening toand changesitsmode toreceivethe
trafficannouncementwhen the broadcasting starts.

Inordertolistening trafficinformation,justpress
Traffic-infobutton and displaycarsymbolappears
indicating TA-function ison.
And when TP/TAiscoming/activating (the traffic
announcementisnotcontinuouslysending butonly
when itisimportant/meaningfultrafficnews,for
example,trafficaccidentorurgentambulancetraffic
on the way),the normalradioprogramisstopped at
onceand trafficannouncementiscoming instead
(atthistime,the carsymbolinthe displayisflashing).
And when the trafficannouncementisfinished
(inmostcaseveryshorttimeoftrafficinformation,
forexamplesome10-20 seconds),the normal
programcomesback againand the carsymbolstops
flashing atstandbymode againunless the
Traffic-infobutton ispressed again.
Notes:
*When the station you arelistening toisnottraffic
information station norstation withEONdata,a
beep sounds.
*When the RDSdataisnotreceived continuously,
the small carsymboldisappearsinthe display
even ifthe reception ofatrafficinformation is
standing by.
*If MW(AM)band istuned,the carsymbolinthe
displayturnsoff automatically.When you tune in
FMagain,the carsymbolon againand TAfunction
isinstandby.
*When the radioisoff, the trafficannouncement
doesnotwork.

Thereforeifyou liketolisten totrafficinformation,the
TAmustbe on standbymode (bypressing Traffic-
infobutton and carsymbolappearson the display).
TAwithEON–Enhanced OtherNetworks
The EONfunction extendsthe radiofunction by
enabling ittotrack otherstationstransmitting the
EONdatawhileitistuned toanetworkstation.
If the radioisreceiving astation whichis
transmitting the EONdatawhileTA-function ison,
itwill automaticallytune toanotherstation
(samenetwork)when the station startsbroadcasting
atrafficannouncement.
Example:
Whileyou arelistening tothe BBC-1broadcasting
when the trafficinformation startsatthe BBC-2
station,the radiotunestothe station (BBC-2)
automatically.And when the trafficannouncement
isover,the radiowill returntothe previousstation.
Tostop the trafficinformation,press Traffic-info
button.The unittunestopreviousstation
automatically.
If the station hasseveralfrequencies,the radiowill
tune one byone automatically.Incasethatstations
arepresetinthe presetmemoriesbypresettuning,
the radiowill choosethe frequenciesfrompreset
memories.

AF(AlternativeFrequencies)- Automaticselection of
relativelystrongersignal
Continuouslypress the AFbutton until the station
withastrongersignalisfound.
SomestationssuchasBBChasseveraldifferent
frequencies.The radiobeginstosearchforan
alternativefrequency withastrongersignalinthe
samenetworkfromthe AF-data.If astrongersignal
station isfound,the radiore-tunestothe station.
If no alternativefrequency isfound,“NOAF”appears
inthe display.
Auto-wind systemearphones
The DT-220 equipswithauto-wind systemearphones
foreasy storage and usage ofthe earphones.
Pulling outthe earphonessoftlyasthe drawing and
makesuretoswitchearphones/speakerbutton to
earphonesposition whilelistening viaearphones.
Towind the earphonesintoearphonescompartment
,slightlypulling outthe earphonesthen press
earphonesautowind switchtowind position,the
earphoneswill autowind intoearphones
compartment.
Note:
Slightlyholdthe earphoneswhen you wind the
earphonesintoearphone compartmenttoavoid
damage tothe earphones.

Otherthan the autowind earphones,the DT-220 also
equipswithaearphonesjack sothatyou mayuse
yourfavoriteearphoneswitha1/8inchplug.When
you plug inthe earphones,makesuretoswitch
earphones/speakerbutton toearphonesposition.
RESETswitch
The RESETswitchlocated on the bottomserves
toclearall the memoryinputorwhileMicon IC(CPU)
powerisdownand displayshowsunusualsign.
It shouldbe thereforeonlybe used when itis
necessarytoresetcompletelythe timeand station
programming,especiallytoRESETthe radiotoits
normalcondition whileMicon ICispowerdown,
displayshowsunusualsign.
