Note:
For the sake of clarity, the instructions for the use of the controls throughout this instruction manual
show the buttons on the radio. The buttons on the remote control can be used if you prefer.
Note:
The operations described below for the panel are the same as the operations for the remote
control.
1. Rotate the Tuning control on the panel is the same as pressing the Tuning Up or Down
buttons on the remote control.
2. Press the Tuning Knob on the panel is the same as pressing and release the Select button on
the remote control.
3. Press and hold in the Menu button on the panel is the same as pressing and release the
Advanced button on the remote control.
4. Rotate the Volume Knob on the panel is the same as pressing the Volume Up or Down but-
tons on the remote control.

Using the radio for the rst time
1.Placeyourradioonaatsurface.
2. Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of your radio.
3. Insert the adaptor plug into the DC socket located on the rear of your radio. Plug the adaptor
into a standard mains outlet. The display will show “Welcome to Digital Radio” for a few
seconds. After short time, the current time will appear on the display.
4. If no stations are found, “00:00:00” will be displayed. Press the Standby button to turn on your
radioanditwillndaDABclockradiostations.Itmaybenecessarytorelocateyourradioto
apositiongivingbetterreceptionandcarryoutascantondstationsasdescribedinlater
sections.
IMPORTANT:
The mains adaptor is used as the means of connecting the radio to the mains supply. The mains
socket used for the radio must remain accessible during normal use. In order to disconnect the
radio from the mains completely, the mains adaptor should be removed from the mains outlet
completely.
Operating your radio
1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio. The display will show “Scanning” for a few
seconds.Whenrstswitchedon,theradiowillbeinDABmode.Thentherststationinthe
list of stations found during scanning will be played. The display will show the station name on
the display. After each use the radio will remember the last mode used and then switch on in
that mode the next time that it is used. If the radio has been used before, the last used station
will be selected. If no signals are found then “No DAB Station” will be displayed and it may be
necessary to relocate your radio to a position giving better reception. You should then carry out
ascantondstations.
Note:
that radio station name and frequency displays shown in this user guide may differ from those
that you see on your radio. Broadcasters may change radio station names that are transmitted,
and the frequencies used for DAB and FM radio stations may not be the same in all parts of the
country.

Selecting a station - DAB
1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
2. Press and release the Mode button until the DAB mode is selected. The display will show the
name of the radio station currently selected.
3. Rotate the Tuning control to step through the list of available stations.
4. When the desired station name appears on the display, press and release the Select button to
selectthestation.Thedisplaywillshow‘Connecting’whileyourradiondsthenewstation.
5. Adjust the Volume control to the required setting.
Note: If after selecting a station, the station is not found it may be necessary
to relocate your radio to a position giving better reception.
Secondary services – DAB
1. Certain radio stations have one or more secondary services associated with them. If a station
has a secondary service associated with it then the secondary service will then appear
immediately after the primary service as you press the Tuning control.
2. To tune to the secondary service, press and release the Select button. Most secondary
services do not broadcast continually and if the selected service is not available, the radio will
re-tune to the associated primary service.

Display options - DAB
Your radio has a range of display options when in DAB mode:-
1. Press and release the Info button to cycle through the various options.
a. Scrolling text Displays scrolling text messages such as artist/track name, phone
in number, etc.
b. Programme type Displays type of station being listened to e.g. Pop, Classic, News,
etc.
c. Multiplex Name Displays the name of the DAB multiplex to which the current
station belongs.
d. Time and date Displays the current time and date.
e. Frequency & channel Displays frequency and channel number for the currently tuned
DAB station.
f . Bit rate & audio type Displays the digital audio bit rate and audio type for the currently
tuned DAB station.
g. Signal strength Displays the signal strength for the currently tuned DAB station.
The open block in the signal strength graph shows the minimum signal strength needed for good
DAB reception. The signal blocks will go up or down showing the changing signal strength as you
adjust the aerial or the radio position.
Finding new stations - DAB
From time to time, new DAB radio stations may become available. Or you may have moved to
a different part of the country. In this case you may need to cause your radio to scan for new
stations.
1. Press the Auto tune button to scan for new stations. Your radio will perform a scan of the Band
III DAB channels. As new stations are found, the station counter on the right-hand side of the
display will increase and stations will be added to the list.

Manual tuning - DAB
Manual tuning allows you to tune your radio to a particular DAB frequency in Band III. Any
new stations found will be added to the station list. This function can also be used to assist the
positioningoftheaerialortheradiotooptimizereceptionforaspecicchannelorfrequency.
1. Press and hold the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display.
2. Rotate the Tuning control until the display shows ‘Manual Tune’. Press and release the Select
button to enter the manual tuning mode.
3. Rotate the Tuning control to select the desired DAB channel. Then press and release the
Select button. The open block in the signal strength graph shows the minimum signal strength
needed for good DAB reception. The signal blocks will go up and down showing the changing
signal strength as you adjust the telescopic aerial or the radio position. Any new radio stations
found on the tuned DAB multiplex will be added to the list stored in the radio.
4. Press and release the Select button to return to normal tuning mode.

Dynamic Range Control (DRC) - DAB
The DRC facility can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy
environment.
There are three levels of compression:
DRC Off No compression applied. (default)
DRC High Maximum compression applied.
DRC Low Medium compression applied.
1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
2. Press and release the Mode button until the DAB band is selected.
3. Press and hold the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘DRC ‘ appears on the display. Press and release the Select
button. The display will show the current DRC value which will be marked with an asterisk.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to select the required DRC setting (default is off).
6.PressandreleasetheSelectbuttontoconrmthesetting.Afterseveralsecondsthedisplay
will return to the normal radio display.
Note: Not all DAB broadcasts are able to use the DRC function. If the broadcast does not
support DRC, then the DRC setting in the radio will have no effect.
Prune stations - DAB
Over time, some DAB services may stop broadcasting, or may change location and then not be
able to receive a station. In order to remove such stations from the DAB station list, the Prune
stations function will delete the DAB stations from your station list that can no longer be received.
Stations which cannot be found or which have not been received for a very long time are shown
in the station list with a question mark.
1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
2. Press and release the Mode button until the DAB mode is selected.
3. Press and hold the Menu button until the Advanced DAB menu shows on the display.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘Prune’ appears on the display. Press and release the Select
button.
5. Press the Tuning Up or Down buttons to highlight ‘Yes’. Press and release the Select button to
cause the stations list to be pruned, eliminating unavailable stations.
6. If you do not wish to prune stations highlight ‘No’ in step 5 and then press and release the
Select button. The display will revert back to the previous display.
Note: If you have moved to a different part of the country you should also carry out a search for
new stations (please see the section ‘Finding new stations’ in previous section).

Operating your clock radio - FM auto-tune
1. Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of your radio.
2. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
3. Press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected.
4. Press and release the Auto tune button to cause your radio to search from low frequency to
highfrequencyandtostopautomaticallywhenitndsastationofsufcientstrength.
5. After a few seconds the display will update. The display will show the frequency of the signal
found. If the signal is strong enough and there is RDS data present then the radio may display
the station name.
6.TondotherstationspresstheAutotunebuttonasbefore.Whentheendofthewavebandis
reached, your radio will recommence tuning from the opposite end of the waveband.
7. Adjust the Volume to the required setting.
8. To switch off your radio, press the Standby button.
Note:
IfyoundthatFMreceptionispoor,tryrepositioningtheaerial.
If you find that an FM broadcast has a lot of background hiss, this may often be reduced by
setting the radio into Mono reception mode for the current FM station. Please refer to the later
section “Stereo/Mono setting - FM”.
Manual tuning - FM
1. Fully extend the aerial located on the rear of your radio.
2. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
3. Press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected.
4. Rotate the Tuning control to tune to a station. The frequency will change in steps of 50kHz. If
theradioistunedtoastationofsufcientsignalstrengthwithRDSinformationpresent,then
the display may change to show the station name.
5. When the waveband end is reached the radio will recommence tuning from the opposite
waveband end.
6. Set the Volume to the desired setting.
7. To switch off your radio press the Standby button.

Display options - FM
Your radio has a range of display options for FM mode:
The Radio Data System (RDS) is a system in which inaudible digital information is transmitted in
addition to the normal FM radio programme.
RDS offers several useful features. The following are available on your radio.
All display options except the text display will revert to the clock display after about 10 seconds.
1. Press and release the Info button to cycle through the various options.
a. Scrolling text Displays scrolling text messages such as artist/track name, phone
in number, etc.
b. Programme type Displays type of station being listened to e.g. Pop, Classic, News,
etc.
c. Multiplex name Displays the name of the FM multiplex to which the current
stations belongs.
d. Audio type Displays the audio type for the currently tuned FM station.
e. Time & date Displays the current time and date.
Note: If no RDS information is available, the radio will be unable to display the station name,
scrolling text and programme type information.
Stereo / Mono setting - FM
Your radio will play stereo FM broadcasts in stereo provided that the received signal is of
adequate strength. However, as a stereo signal becomes weaker the audio signal will become
poorer. It may be preferable to force the radio to play the station in mono in order to reduce the
level of background hiss.
1. Press the Standby button to switch on your radio.
2. Tune to the required FM radio station as previously described.
3. Press and hold the Menu button until the Advanced FM menu shows on the display.
4. Rotate the Tuning controls until ‘Audio setting’ appears on the display. Press and release the
Select button.
5. To switch to mono to reduce the hiss from a weak FM signal rotate the Tuning control until ‘Mono’
appearsonthedisplay.PressandreleasetheSelectbuttontoconrmthesetting.Thecurrent
audio setting will be marked with an asterisk.
6. Alternatively to return to stereo rotate the Tuning control until ‘Stereo’ appears on the display.

Scan sensitivity setting - FM
Your radio includes a local/distant option for the auto-scan function. By setting the radio to the
‘local’ scan option, weaker signals from more distant transmitters can be ignored by the radio,
makingstrongersignalseasiertond.
1. Press and release the Standby button to switch on your radio.
2. If needed, press and release the Mode button until the FM band is selected.
3. Press and hold the Menu button until the Advanced FM menu shows on the display.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘FM Scan Zone’ shows on the display. Press and release the
Select button to enter the scan sensitivity adjustment mode. The current setting will be marked
with an asterisk.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to switch between ‘Local’ (Strong stations only) and ‘Distant’ (All
stations)optionsonthelowerlineofthedisplay.TheDistantoptionwillallowtheradiotond
weaker signals when scanning.
6.PressandreleasetheSelectbuttontoconrmyourselection.TheLocalorDistantsettingis
stored in the radio and remains in force until changed or until a System Reset.
Presetting stations - DAB and FM
You may store your preferred DAB and FM radio stations to the preset station memories. There
are 20 memory presets in your radio 10 for DAB and 10 for FM. Presets are remembered by your
radio in the event of a power failure.
The procedure for setting presets and using them to tune stations is the same for FM and DAB
modes, and is described below. Please note that 10 memory presets for each band can be
accessed via remote control.
1. Press the Standby button to switch on the radio.
2. Tune to the required station as previously described.
3. Press and hold down the required Preset button until the display shows, e.g. “Preset 1 stored.”
The station will be stored under the chosen preset number. Repeat this procedure for the
remaining presets.
Note: Stations stored in preset memories may be overwritten by following the above procedure.
Recalling a preset station- DAB and FM
1. Press the Standby button to switch on the radio.
2. Press and release the required waveband by pressing the Mode button.
3. Momentarily press and release the required Preset button, your radio will tune to the station
in preset memory.
Note: The display will show ‘Preset Empty’ if no station has been stored to that preset.

Listening music via Bluetooth streaming
You need to pair your Bluetooth device with your DDR-60BT before you can auto-link to play/
stream Bluetooth music through your DDR-60BT. Paring creates a ‘bond’ so two devices can
recognize each other.
Pairing and playing your Bluetooth device for the rst time
1. Press and release the Mode button until the Bluetooth pairing indicator turns blue. The
indicatorashesblueindicatingthespeakerisdiscoverable.
2. Activate Bluetooth on your device according to the device’s user manual to link to the speaker.
Locate the Bluetooth device list and select the device named ‘DDR-60BT.’ With some mobiles
(which are equipped with earlier versions than BT2.1 Bluetooth device), you may need to
input the pass code “0000”.
3. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator will remain in solid blue. You can simply select and
play any music from your source device. Volume control can be adjusted from your source
device, or directly from the radio.
4. Use the controls on your Bluetooth-enabled device or on the radio to play/pause and navigate
tracks.
Note:
1) If 2 Bluetooth devices, pairing for the first time, both search for your radio, it will show its
availabilityonbothdevices.However,ifonedevicelinkswiththisunitrst,thentheother
Bluetoothdevicewon’tnditonthelist.
2) If you take your source device out of range, the connection will be temporarily disconnected
to your radio. Your radio will automatically reconnect if the source device is brought back in
range. Be aware that during the period of disconnection, no other Bluetooth device can pair or
link with your radio.
3) If ‘DDR-60BT’ shows in your Bluetooth device list but your device cannot connect with it,
please delete the item from your list and pair the device with the radio again following the
steps described previously.
4) The effective operation range between the system and the paired device is approximately 10
meters (30 feet). Any obstacle between the system and the device can reduce the operational
range.
5) Bluetooth/NFC connectivity performance may vary depending on the connected Bluetooth
devices. Please refer to the Bluetooth capabilities of your device before connecting to your
radio. All features may not be supported on some paired Bluetooth devices.
6) With some mobile phones, making/receiving calls, text messages, e-mails or any other
activities unrelated to audio streaming may mute the Bluetooth audio streaming or even
temporarily disconnect from your device. Such behavior is a function of the connected device
and does not indicate a fault with your DDR-60BT.

Playing audio les in Bluetooth mode
When you have successfully connected your speaker with the chosen
Bluetooth device you can start to play your music using the controls on
your connected Bluetooth device.
1. Once playing has started adjust the volume to the required setting
using the Volume control on your radio or on your enabled Bluetooth
device.
2. Use the controls on your device to play/pause and navigate tracks.
Alternatively, press and release the Play/Pause ( ), Fast-forward
button ( ) , Rewind button ( ) on the radio.
3. Press and hold the Fast-forward or Rewind button to move through
the current track. Release the button when the desired point is
reached.
Note:
That not all player applications or devices may respond to all of these
controls.
Speaker memory and reconnecting a device
If your Bluetooth device already paired with DDR-60BT previously, the
unit will memorize your Bluetooth device, but it does not support the
automatic reconnection, reconnect with this product following the steps
below.
DDR-60BT can memorize up to 8 sets of Bluetooth device, when the
memory exceed this amount, the earliest paired device will be over
written.
1. Press and release the Pair button to enter the Bluetooth device
memory. Then rotate the Tuning control to find the desired
memorized Bluetooth device and press the Select button to connect
to the required Bluetooth device.
2. Alternatively, repeatedly press and release the Pair button to have
access to the stored Bluetooth device and press the Select button to
connect to the required Bluetooth device.
Disconnecting your Bluetooth device
Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for 2-3 seconds to
disconnectwithyourBluetoothdevice.TheBluetoothindicatorashes
in blue indicating the radio is discoverable again for pairing.

Pairing and playing your device via NFC
Your radio is equipped with wireless NFC (Near Field Communication) feature, allowing NFC-
enabled devices to pair and play the music with your DDR-60BT. For non-NFC devices, please
refer to the above sections for standard Bluetooth pairing.
1. Turn on the NFC feature on your device.
2. Touch the NFC area of your playing device directly against the NFC tag marked on the top of
your DDR-60BT. The radio will automatically be switched on and connect your NFC-enabled
device.Ifyoupairwithradioforthersttime,someNFC-enableddevicewillbeaskedthe
permission to link with the radio. Once paired with a device, ‘Connecting DDR-60BT…’ or a
similar message is shown on your NFC-enabled device. The Bluetooth indicator will light in
solid blue. (Important: Please make sure the screen of your playing device is on and unlocked
to allow NFC to work.)
Note:
1. NFC connectivity performance may vary depending on the connected Bluetooth devices.
Please refer to the Bluetooth capabilities of your device before connecting to your radio. All
features may not be supported on some Bluetooth/NFC enabled devices.
2. The location of the NFC detection area is not the same on all devices. When connecting
with other Bluetooth device via NFC, refer to the User guide of the other device for more
information.
3. Some of metallic case or cover for mobile phones may reduce the sensitivity of NFC. Make
sure you remove it, before activating the NFC.
Disconnecting your NFC-enabled device
To disconnect your device, simply touch directly against the speaker’s tag again on the top panel.

Clock and Alarms
Automatically updating the clock
Your radio will normally update the clock automatically using the DAB or FM signal. If no signal
is available, then you need to set the time manually.
After a power failure the radio will then set its clock the next time that you turn on the radio in
DAB or FM mode. Alternatively you may specify that the time is not automatically updated. In this
case the clock must always be set manually after a power interruption.
1. With your radio switched on, press and hold the Menu button to access the menu for the
current mode.
2. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘System ‘ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning control
to enter the system settings menu.
3. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘Time’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning control to
enter the time setting menu.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until “Auto update” is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning
control to enter the auto-update menu.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to choose an update option from ‘Update from DAB’, ‘Update from
FM’,‘UpdatefromAny’or‘Noupdate’asrequired.PresstheTuningcontroltoconrmyour
choice. The radio will then exit to the previous menu display.
Note:
If you select ‘Update from Any’, ‘Update from DAB’, ‘Update from FM’ the current time received
will be displayed. If no signal is found you should either position the radio or its aerial so that a
signal can be received, or revert to manual clock mode.

Setting the clock format
The clock display used in standby mode and on the playing mode screens can be set to 12 or 24
hour format. The selected format is then also used when setting the alarms.
1. With your radio switched on, press and hold the Menu button to access the menu for the
current mode.
2. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘System’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning
control to enter the system settings menu.
3. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘Time’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning control
to enter the time setup.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘Set 12/24 hour’ is highlighted on the display. Press the
Tuning control to enter the clock format menu. The current clock display format is marked
with an asterisk.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to select either 12 or 24 hour format. Press the Tuning control to
conrmyourchoiceofclockformat.Thedisplaywillthenreverttothepreviousmenu.
If the 12 hour clock format is chosen, the radio will then use the 12 hour clock for the setting of
alarms, and will display a 12 hour clock with an AM or PM indicator when in standby mode.

1. With your radio switched on, press and hold the Menu button to access the menu for the
current mode.
2. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘System’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning Control
to enter the system settings menu.
3. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘Time’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning control to
enter the time setup.
4. Rotate the Tuning control until “Set date format” is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning
control to enter the setting menu.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to select your desired date format, then press the Tuning control to
conrmthesetting.

Setting the clock manually

Setting the alarm clock
Your radio has two separate alarms which can be set to wake you to either the radio or a buzzer
alarm. In the event of a power interruption your radio has built in memory that will retain your
alarm settings. Ensure that the time is set correctly before setting the alarms.
1. Press and release the Alarm button. ‘Alarm 1 Setup’ will show on the display. Or Press again

12 hour clock format, there will also be an option here for setting AM or PM for the alarm time.
4. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the desired minute for the alarm and then press the Select
button.Thealarmdurationwillashonthedisplay.
5. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the alarm duration. Choose between 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90
minutes. Press and release the Select button to enter the alarm duration. The alarm source
optionwillashonthedisplay.
6. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the desired source for the alarm (DAB, FM, Buzzer ).
Press the Select button when the desired source alarm is highlighted on the display. For which
ever radio mode is selected, the radio alarm may be set to any of the stations which have been
stored as presets or to the station last listened to. If setting the alarm to a radio option, rotate
the Tuning control to choose either last listened or from presets 1-10.

that you can only set the alarm to use a preset which has already been stored. Press and release

7. Your alarm can be set to sound once, daily, weekdays and weekends.
Once - Will sound at one time only.
Daily - Will sound every day.
Weekdays - Will sound only on weekdays.
Weekends - Will sound only on weekends.
Rotate the Tuning control to choose the day option and then press and release the Select
buttontoconrmthesetting.

8. Rotate the Tuning control to select the correct day and then press the Select button to
conrmthesetting.

conrmthesetting.
11. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the desired volume and press the Select button to
confirm the setting. Your radio will show ‘Alarm Saved’ and will exit the alarm setting
procedure.
Note:
1. Active alarms are indicated in the display by the alarm ‘A’ symbol. If the radio cannot connect
to the radio station, the buzzer alarm will be used instead. The alarm volume will start softly
and gradually increase in level every few seconds. The alarm will sound for the selected
duration unless cancelled.
2. If you make a mistake at any point while setting the alarms, use the Menu button to go back
to the previous screen.
When the alarm sounds
The alarm will sound at the selected times for up to 90 minutes unless cancelled.
Thealarmdurationusedforthealarmwillbeasspeciedduringthealarmsettingprocedure.
Thealarmiconwillashonthescreenandtheradiowillautomaticallyswitchbacktostandby
mode when the selected alarm time has elapsed.
To cancel an alarm, press the Standby button to return to standby mode.

Snooze function
1. The buzzer or radio alarm can be silenced for 5 minutes by pressing any buttons other than
Standby button. While the snooze timer is active the remaining snooze time is shown on the
display.
2. To cancel the snooze timer while the alarm is suspended, press the Standby button. The
displaywillbrieyshowan‘AlarmOff’message.
Controlling alarms in standby
When your radio is in standby, the alarms can be controlled using the Alarm button. This avoids
the risk of disturbance to someone who is asleep.
1. To change the states of the alarms when in standby, press and release the Alarm button for
alarm 1 or press the Alarm button again for alarm 2.
2. Rotate the Tuning control. The display will cycle through alarm disabled and alarm enabled.
3.PressandreleasetheSelectbuttontoconrmthealarmsetting.
Sleep function
Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time has elapsed. The sleep setting can be
adjusted between 15 and 90 minutes. Ensure your radio is switched on.
1. To set the desired sleep time, press and hold the Menu button to enter the Advanced menu of
the current mode.
2. Rotate the Tuning control until ‘System’ is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning
control to enter the system settings menu.
3. Rotate the Tuning control until “Sleep” is highlighted on the display. Press the Tuning control
to enter the setting. The sleep settings available are 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Press the
Selectbuttontoconrmthesetting.Thedisplaywillexitthesleepoptions.Thesleepsymbol‘S’
will show on the display. Your radio will switch off after the preset sleep time has elapsed.
4. To cancel the sleep timer and switch off your radio before the chosen sleep time has elapsed,
press the Standby button. To cancel the sleep timer without switching off your radio, select
“Sleep off.”
5. When the sleep time has been set you may view the remaining sleep time. Press the Sleep
button on the remote control. The remaining sleep time will show on the display.
