TABLE OF CONTENTS
Congratulations on your purchase of a Santa Cruz, one of the finest suspension bikes available!
This manual is intended to provide model specific technical, safety and setup information. It
should be used in conjunction with the owners manuals provided with the front and rear
suspension components on your bike. If you did not receive these manuals you can contact your
dealer, check the web sites of the manufacturers of those components for the latest downloads,
or directly contact Santa Cruz Bikes customer service department at the number listed on the
back cover of this manual.
Contained in this manual is information which could affect your safety if you fail to maintain or
inspect your bicycle. The safety alert symbol and the word “Warning” indicates a potentially
hazardous situation which, if not avoided, can result in serious injury or death. The safety alert
symbol and the word “Caution” identifies a potentially hazardous situation which may cause
minor or moderate injury or damage to your bicycle if not avoided.
WARNING: Please be sure to review and understand the instructions, warnings and contents of
the manuals for your bicycle.
The Superlight / Juliana Superlight frame is intended to be used for cross country riding and is
not intended for downhill racing, big jumps or riding large stunts. Santa Cruz recommends a
periodic inspection of your bike to insure that no damage has occurred that may jeopardize the
frame or bike’s integrity. When inspecting your bike you should look for bent, cracked or broken
components including: handlebars, stems, seat posts and pedals. Inspect areas of the frame
near tube junctures, welds, or in areas of abrasions or dents. If any damage is present, stop
riding your bicycle until it has been thoroughly inspected by a Santa Cruz dealer.
WARNING: Riding a bike with damage to the frame or components could lead to a potentially
hazardous situation which, if not avoided, can result in serious injury or death.

Your Santa Cruz frame comes equipped with a seat post which has an outside diameter of 30.9mm.
It is important to maintain a minimum insertion depth of your seat post in the seat tube of your frame.
Please refer to the seat post manufacturer’s setup instructions for proper insertion depth.
If you are not able to obtain the correct saddle height while following the minimum insertion
guidelines replace the seat post with a longer one.
CAUTION: Failure to install your seat post with the proper insertion depth can compromise the
integrity of your frame.

LIMITED NO-FAULT REPLACEMENT
Your Juliana Superlight or Superlight frame was designed to be used with a fork measuring up to 120mm of
travel. When considering replacement of the fork that originally came equipped on your bike, it is important
not to exceed this maximum travel measurement.
WARNING: The Superlight and Juliana Superlight frames are compatible with forks of 120mm of travel or less.
Installing a fork with more travel can compromise the integrity of your frame and could lead to a potentially
hazardous situation which, if not avoided, can result in serious injury or death.
MAXIMUM FORK TRAVEL
Sag: Sag is the amount a shock compresses when a rider (wearing full riding gear) mounts a bike in a normal
riding position with weight distributed to saddle, pedals and handlebars. Measuring sag is important for your
suspension to work properly and can be accomplished in one of two ways.
1) If your shock is equipped with an o-ring on the shock shaft, slide the o-ring up against the scraper lip of the
air sleeve. Mount the bike taking care not to bounce on the pedals or saddle. Dismount the bike and measure
the distance (or sag) from the scraper lip to the o-ring.
2) Before mounting the bike, measure the distance from the center of the shock mount bolt that attaches your
shock to the front triangle to the center of the shock mount bolt that attaches your shock to the swingarm
(known as eye-to-eye). Mount the bike taking care not to bounce on the pedals or saddle. While on the bike,
ask a friend to take another measurement of the eye-to-eye. Subtracting the value obtained in the second
measurement from the first will determine sag.
Please refer to the Santa Cruz setup guide that came with your frame for the specific settings. Please keep
in mind that the values in this chart are designed as a starting point only. Modifications to these settings
could be made during ride testing on the trail.
REAR SHOCK SET-UP
Rebound: Rebound is the rate at which the shock returns after is has been compressed. Rebound setting
vary from rider to rider and change with rider weight, riding style and trail conditions. Typically riders will
set rebound slower for lower speed bigger hits and faster for higher speed smaller bumps. A good rule
of thumb is that rebound should be as fast as possible without kicking back and pushing the rider off
the saddle.
CAUTION: Please refer to the manufacturer’s owners manual for the particular fork or shock that came
equipped on your bicycle for specific suspension settings and adjustments.
