Safety Instructions
WARNING:
The chassis of this projector is isolated (COLD) from AC line by using the converter transformer. Primary side of
the converter and lamp power supply unit circuit is connected to the AC line and it is hot, which hot circuit is identi-
fied with the line ( ) in the schematic diagram. For continued product safety and protection of personnel injury,
servicing should be made with qualified personnel.
The following precautions must be observed.
Safety Precautions
1: An isolation transformer should be connected in the
power line between the projector and the AC line be-
fore any service is performed on the projector.
2: Comply with all caution and safety-related notes pro-
vided on the cabinet back, cabinet bottom, inside the
cabinet or on the chassis.
3: When replacing a chassis in the cabinet, always be
certain that all the protective devices are installed
properly, such as, control knobs, adjustment covers
or shields, barriers, etc.
DO NOT OPERATE THIS PROJECTOR WITH-
OUT THE PROTECTIVE SHIELD IN POSI-
TION AND PROPERLY SECURED.
4: Before replacing the cabinet cover, thoroughly in-
spect the inside of the cabinet to see that no stray
parts or tools have been left inside.
Before returning any projector to the customer, the ser-
vice personnel must be sure it is completely safe to op-
erate without danger of electric shock.
Service Personnel Warning
Eye damage may result from directly viewing the light produced by the Lamp used in this equipment. Always turn
off Lamp before opening cover. The Ultraviolet radiation eye protection required during this servicing.
Never turn the power on without the lamp to avoid electric-shock or damage of the devices since the stabilizer
generates high voltages (15kV - 25kV) at its starts.
Since the lamp is very high temperature during units operation replacement of the lamp should be done at least
45 minutes after the power has been turned off, to allow the lamp cool-off.
Product Safety Notice
Product safety should be considered when a component replacement is made in any area of the projector. Com-
ponents indicated by mark ! in the parts list and the schematic diagram designate components in which safety
can be of special significance. It is, therefore, particularly recommended that the replacement of there parts must
be made by exactly the same parts.

This projector provides the following safety protections to operate in safety. If the abnormality occurs inside the projec-
tor, it will automatically turn off by operating one of the following protection circuits.
1. Fuse
The fuse is located inside of the projector. When both of
LAMP and the READY indicators are not lighting, the fuse
may be opened. Check the fuse as following steps.
It should be used the specified fuse as right;
How to replace the fuse
1 Turn the projector upside down and remove the cabinet bottom cover following to “Mechanical Disassemblies [19]”.
2 Remove the fuse from fuse holder.
Safety Protections
2. Thermal switches
There are some thermal switches inside of the projector to detect the internal temperature rising abnormally. When
the internal temperature around the lamps reaches a specified value, the projector turns off immediately for product
safety.

3. Mechanical switches
There are some mechanical switches inside of the projector to detect that the covers, filters or lamps are mounted
correctly. When one of following switches detects an error (open), the projector cannot turn on.
This projector provides 4 mechanical switches and 4 lamp selection switches as follows;
- Lamp1 cover switch (SW902)
- Lamp2 cover switch (SW905)
- Bottom cover switch (SW904)
- Air filter switch (SW903)
- Lamp selection switches (SW906, SW907, SW908, SW909)

4. Temp. and airflow sensors
The projector provides 2 temperature sensor ICs and an airflow sensor. The temperature sensor ICs monitor internal
temperature and external temperature (around the intake duct ) respectively. The airflow sensor monitors intake air-
flow through the airfilter to detect the airfilter clogged.

5. Power failure and fan lock detection
The projector provides the detection circuits of the power failure and the fan lock. When the detection circuit detects
an error at the power supply line or the fan lock detection line, the projector will turn into the standby mode to protect
the other circuits defective.
- If the all of LEDs are blinking, the projector may defect the failure on the fan or the power supply lines. Check fan
operation and power supply lines referring to the chapter “Power supply and Failure Detection” in the Chassis Block
Diagram section.

Air filter replacement
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend avoiding dusty/smoky environments
when operating a projector. Usage in these environments
may cause poor image quality.
When using under dusty or smoky conditions, dust may accu-
mulate on liquid crystal panel, lens, or optical elements inside
it. This condition may degrade quality of projected image.
When above symptoms are noticed, contact your authorized
dealer or service station for proper cleaning.
Filter cover
CAUTION
Do not operate a projector with Air Filter removed.
Dust may accumulate on LCD Panel and Mirror de-
grading picture quality.
Do not put small parts into Air Intake Vents. It may
result in malfunction of a projector.
Air filter
Air filters prevent dust from accumulating on the surface of the optical elements inside the projector. Should the air
filters become clogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fans’ effectiveness and may result in internal heat
build up and adversely affect the life of the projector. Replace the air filter following the steps below.
TOP CONTROL
WARNING FILTER

This projector can monitor the filter condition. When the filter
is clogged with dust and the performance is degraded, the
WARNING FILTER indicator lights red and let you know the
filter replacement is required.
If the indicator is lighting red, turn off the projector and clean
the air filter immediately.
Using the projector with the WARNING FILTER indicator light-
ing may result in internal heat build up and cause damage to
the optical elements inside the projector. The projector will
shutdown automatically to protect itself when the projector's
inside temperature is abnormally high.
After replacing the air filter, reset "Filter Counter" in the Spe-
cial menu. Otherwise, monitor function for the air filter may
not work properly. Refer to "How to reset the Filter Timer".
WARNING FILTER Indicator
1
Turn off the projector, and disconnect the AC power cord
from the AC outlet.
2 Pulling down the tabs on both sides top of the filter cover,
open the projector cover.
3
Pull out the air filter from the projector.
4
Clean the air filter cover with a vacuum cleaner.
5
Replace the new air filter properly onto the projector and
close the filter cover.
Note:
The projector cannot be operated with the filter removed.

Lamp Replacement
CAUTION :
DO NOT OPERATE A PROJECTOR WHILE ANY OF LAMPS
IS REMOVED. IT MAY RESULT IN MALFUNCTIONS, FIRE
HAZARD, OR OTHER ACCIDENTS.
When the life of the projection lamp of this projector draws
to an end, the LAMP1/2 REPLACE indicator lights yellow. If
this indicator lights yellow, replace the lamp with a new one
promptly.

Lamp covers
For continued safety, replace with a lamp of the
same type. Do not drop a lamp or touch a glass
bulb! The glass can shatter and may cause injury.
Allow a projector to cool, for at least 60 minutes be-
fore you open the Lamp cover. The inside of the
projector can become very hot.

Notes on Lamp Replacement:
To maintain quality of picture (better balance of color
and brightness in the entire screen), we recommend
replacing all 2 lamps at a time.
These indicators light yellow
when the life of the projection
lamp draws to an end.
Lamps
Follow these steps to replace the lamp.
1
Turn off the projector and disconnect the AC plug. Allow
the projector to cool for at least 60 minutes.
2
Loosen each screws on the lamp covers with a screw-
driver, and remove them.
3
Loosen 4 screws of the lamps with a screwdriver and pull
out one lamp and another with grasping the handle.
4
Replace the lamps with new ones and tighten the 4 screws
back into position. Make sure that the lamps are set prop-
erly. Replace the lamp covers and tighten the screws.
5
Connect the AC power cord to the projector and turn on
the projector.
6
Reset the Lamp replace counter.

Special Menu (Lamp)
How to reset the Lamp Time
1
Press the MENU button to display On-Screen Menu. Spin
the menu icons with the Control pad and press the SE-
LECT button when the SPECIAL icon comes right in front.
2
Move the yellow frame pointer with the Control pad to an
item "Lamp" and then press the SELECT button. The cor-
responding dialog box for the item appears.
This feature displays total time of the lamps being used. When
selecting Lamp 1 / Lamp 2, the dialog box shows wattage and
hours of each lamp.
To reset the lamp time, move the pointer to "Reset" and then
press the SELECT button. The message "Lamp time reset?"
is displayed. Move the pointer to [Yes] and then press the SE-
LECT button. Another confirmation dialog box appears and
select [Yes].
Note:
Be sure to reset the Lamp replace counter only after replacing
the lamp.
How to reset the Filter Time
1 Press the MENU button to display On-Screen Menu. Spin
the menu icons with the Control pad and press the SE-
LECT button when the SPECIAL icon comes right in front.
2 Move the yellow frame pointer with the Control pad to an
item "Filter" and then press the SELECT button. The cor-
responding dialog box for the item appears.
This feature displays total time of the filter on the projector
and the Option box (separately provided) being used.
To reset the filter time, move the pointer to "Reset" and then
press the SELECT button. A confirmation box appears. Move
the pointer to [Yes] and then press the SELECT button.
