IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Before using your PID-760, read and understand this
Owner’s Manual.
• Keep the inverter well ventilated in order to properly dis-
perse heat generated while it is in use. Make sure there
are several inches of clearance around the top and sides
and do not block the slots of the inverter.
• Make sure the inverter is not close to any potential source
of ammable fumes, gases or clothing.
• Keep the inverter dry.
• DO NOT allow the inverter to come into contact with rain or
moisture.
• DO NOToperate the inverter if you, the inverter, the device
being operated or any other surfaces that may come in
contact with any power source are wet. Water and many
other liquids can conduct electricity, which may lead to
serious injury.
• Do not place the inverter on or near heating vents, radia-
tors or other sources of heat.
• Do not place the inverter in direct sunlight. The ideal air
temperature for operation is between 50° and 80°F.
• Do not use the inverter near an open engine compartment.
• Only connect the power inverter to a 12-volt battery ac-
cessory outlet or 12-volt battery. Make sure the AC plug
connection is tight.

• Do not modify the AC receptacle in any way.
• Use only 40-amp or 50-amp fuses. (Replaced by certied
technician only.)
• This device does not include an internal Ground Fault
Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). For GFCI protection, use a
Coleman Cable 02822 GFCI outlet.

BEFORE USING PID-760 POWER INVERTER
It is important to know the continuous wattage of the device
you plan to use with the inverter. The PID-760 must be used
with devices drawing 760 watts or less. If the wattage is not
marked on the device, an estimate can be made by multiply-
ing the AC input current (Amps) by the AC voltage (110V).
Devices like TVs, fans or electric motors require additional
power to start (commonly known as the “starting or peak
power”). The PID-760 can supply a momentary surge in
wattage; however even devices rated less than the maxi-
mum 760 watts can exceed the inverters surge capability
and cause an automatic overload shutdown.
Make sure the device you are using is compatible with a
modied sine wave inverter.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Connecting to a 12V Battery:
The PID-760 battery clamps allow quick hook-up to a 12V
battery. Make sure the PID-760 and the devices are turned
off.
1. Unscrew the positive (red) and negative (black) plastic
connector knobs from the back of the inverter.
2. Slip the end of the red (positive) battery cable clamp
wire over the red (positive) threaded extension and then
screw on the connector knob and tighten so the wire is
rmly attached. Repeat the same process for the black
wire.
3. Connect the red (positive) battery cable to the positive
(+) battery terminal taking care to shield eyes, clothing
and hands from battery acid. Connect the black battery
clamp to negative (-) ground on the battery.
4. To disconnect the PID-760, reverse the above steps.
NOTE: A ‘’buzzing’’ sound emitted from inexpensive
sound systems is the result of ineffective lters in the
sound system. This can be resolved by purchasing a
sound system with a higher quality power supply or
higher quality lter.

POWER SOURCE
Your average automobile or marine battery at full charge
will provide an ample power supply to the inverter for ap-
proximately 3 hours when the engine is off. The actual length
of time the inverter will function depends on the age and
condition of the battery and the power demand being placed
by the device being operated with the inverter.
Turn OFF the device plugged into the inverter before starting
the engine. To maintain battery power, run the engine every
2 to 3 hours for approximately 10 minutes to recharge the
battery. While the PID-760 draws very low amperage when
not in use, it should be unplugged to avoid battery drain.

LED DISPLAY
The LED readouts identify the current status of the
PID-760.
VOLTAGE IN: Voltage of vehicle’s battery or Portable Power
jump starter/DC power source.
VOLTAGE OUT: Voltage supplied to device through AC
receptacle.
POWER OUT: Power or wattage supplied to device plugged
into the inverter.
An audio alarm will sound when the following codes dis-
play. To stop the alarm, press the ON/OFF LED Selector
button:
bAd – Inverter is not functional. See warranty and call
Customer Service 800-621-5485 (Hours: 7 a.m. – 4:30
p.m. CST).
Hi b – Vehicle’s battery voltage is more than 15.5 volts.
Inverter will automatically restart after the voltage drops
below 15.5 volts.
Hi p – The continuous load demand from the device
exceeds 760 watts.
HoT – Inverter is overheated and automatically turns off
for a period of 1 – 3 minutes to cool. Make sure inverter is
well ventilated. It will automatically restart after it cools.
Lo b – Vehicle’s battery voltage is less than 10.5 volts.
SC – Short circuit, power surge or overload in the
device.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: Alarm is On
Reason/Solution
1. Display shows SC. Device has a short circuit or
demands too much surge power.
Cycle inverter power OFF and ON.
If problem persists, use a larger inverter or a smaller
device.
Remove defective device.
See warranty and call Customer Service 800-621-
5485 (Hours: 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST).
2. Display shows Lo b. 12 Volt battery too low.
Recharge/replace low battery.
3. Display shows Voltage In between 10.5 and 11.0
Volts.
12 Volt battery is low.
Recharge/replace low battery.
Inverter will automatically shut off after battery volt-
age reaches 10.5 Volts.
4. Display shows Hi b. 12 Volt voltage is too high.
If in a vehicle, repair/replace the alternator or charg-
ing system.
Use a properly sized and rated 12 Volt battery.
If input voltage returns to 15 Volts or less, the in-
verter will automatically restart.

5. Display shows HiP. Device demands more than
760 Watts continuous power.
Cycle inverter power OFF and ON.
If problem persists, use a larger inverter or a smaller
device.
6. Display shows HoT. Inverter is too hot.
Increase ventilation to inverter.
Move inverter to a cooler area.
Reduce the power consumption of the device.
Inverter will automatically reset after cooling.
PROBLEM: Inverter Does Not Turn On
Reason/Solution
1. Poor contact at terminals.
Unplug and reinsert PID-760.
2. Fuse is blown.
A blown fuse is usually caused by reverse polarity
or a short circuit within the inverter. To replace, con-
tact a qualied service technician who will diagnose
the inverter and replace the fuse(s) with the appro-
priate replacement(s).
3. Inverter may be defective.

LIMITED WARRANTY
Schumacher Electric Corporation warrants your inverter to be free
from defects in material and workmanship, excepting abuse or mis-
use, for a period of two years from the date of sale to the original
user or consumer purchaser. If your inverter malfunctions or fails
within the 24-month warranty period because of a defect in material
or workmanship, we will repair it without charge or replace it.
This warranty is in lieu of all other express warranties. The duration
of any implied warranty, including but not limited to, any implied
warranty of merchantability or tness for a particular purpose
made in respect to your unit, is limited to the period of the express
warranty set forth above.

portation charges to the factory or point of repair. We will return
your inverter freight prepaid if repair is covered under warranty.
Your inverter should be properly packed to avoid damage in transit
since we will not be responsible for any such damage.
In no event shall Schumacher Electric Corporation be liable for
consequential damages. Some states do not allow limitations on
the length of the implied warranty or the exclusion or limitations of
incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or
exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specic
legal rights and you may also have other rights which may vary

CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS
Avant d’utiliser votre onduleur PID-760, vous devez lire et
vous assurer de comprendre ce manuel d’utilisation.
• L’onduleur doit être l’objet d’une bonne aération lorsqu’il
fonctionne an que la chaleur produite se dissipe adé-
quatement. Assurez-vous de laisser un espace vide de
plusieurs centimètres (pouces) au-dessus et sur les côtés
de l’onduleur. Ne bloquez pas les fentes de l’onduleur.
• Assurez-vous que l’onduleur n’est pas près d’une source
potentielle de vapeurs ou de gaz, ni de vêtements inam-
mables.
• Gardez l’onduleur bien au sec.
• Veillez à ce qu’il ne soit PAS en contact avec la pluie ou
l’humidité.
• Ne faites PAS fonctionner l’onduleur si vous, l’onduleur lui-
même, l’appareil à alimenter ou toute surface pouvant être
en contact avec une source d’alimentation, êtes mouillés.
L’eau ainsi que plusieurs autres liquides sont conducteurs
d’électricité, ce qui peut causer de graves blessures.
• Ne placez pasl’onduleur sur ouprès d’une bouche dechal-
eur, d’un radiateur ou d’une autre source de chaleur.
• Ne placez pas l’onduleur directement sous les rayons du
soleil. Idéalement, la température de l’air ambiant devrait
se situer entre 10 et 26 °C (50 et 80 °F) lorsqu’on utilise
cet appareil.

• N’utilisez pas l’onduleur près du compartiment moteur
lorsqu’il est ouvert.
• Branchezl’onduleuruniquementàuneprised’accessoires
de 12 volts ou à une batterie de 12 volts. Assurez-vous
que la che CA est bien enfoncée.
• Ne modiez pas la prise CA de quelque façon que ce soit.
• Utilisez uniquement des fusibles de 40 A ou 50 A. (Rem-
placés uniquement par un technicien qualié.)
• Cet appareiln’estpas munid’undisjoncteurinterne de fuite
à la terre. Pour bénécier de ce type de protection, utilisez
l’adaptateur de câble Coleman 02822 avec disjoncteur de
fuite à la terre.
MISE EN GARDE : La manipulation du cordon de cet ap-
pareil ou du cordon des accessoires vendus avec ce produit
peut entraîner une exposition au plomb, un produit chimique
reconnu par l’État de la Californie pour causer le cancer
ainsi que des anomalies congénitales ou autre dommage

manipulation.
AVANT D’UTILISER L’ONDULEUR PID-760
Il est important de connaître la puissance continue en watts
de l’appareil que vous prévoyez utiliser avec l’onduleur.
L’onduleur PID-760 doit être utilisé avec des appareils pré-
levant 760 watts ou moins. Si la puissance en watts n’est
pas indiquée sur l’appareil, il est possible d’obtenir un chiffre
approximatif en multipliant le courant d’entrée CA (ampères)
par la tension CA (110 V).

Des appareils tels que téléviseurs, ventilateurs ou mo-
teurs électriques ont besoin de puissance supplémentaire
lorsqu’on les met en marche (communément appelée « puis-
sance de démarrage » ou « puissance de crête »). L’onduleur
modèle PID-760 peut fournir momentanément une crête
de puissance en watts ; toutefois, même les appareils dont
la puissance nominale est inférieure au maximum de 760
watts peuvent dépasser la capacité de crête et provoquer
un arrêt automatique en cas de surcharge.
Assurez-vous que l’appareil que vous utilisez est compatible
avec un onduleur à onde sinusoïdale modiée.
INSTRUCTIONS D’UTILISATION
Raccordement à une batterie de 12 V :
Les pinces de batterie de l’onduleur PID-760 permettent un
raccordement rapide à une batterie de 12 V. Assurez-vous
que l’onduleur PID-760 et les appareils sont fermés.
1. Dévissez les boutons de connecteur en plastique positif
(rouge) et négatif (noir) à l’arrière de l’onduleur.
2. Glissez l’extrémité du l de la pince de câble de batterie
rouge (positive) sur la tige letée rouge (positive), puis
vissez-y le bouton de connecteur en serrant de façon à
ce que le l soit bien xé. Répétez la procédure pour le
l noir.
3. Raccordez la pince de batterie rouge (positive) à la borne
de batterie positive (+) en prenant soin de protéger yeux,
vêtements et mains de l’acide de batterie. Raccordez la

pince de batterie noire à une mise à la masse négative
(-) sur la batterie.
4. Pour débrancher l’onduleur PID-760, effectuez les étapes
ci-dessus dans l’ordre inverse.
REMARQUE : Si un bourdonnement provient d’un
appareil audio bon marché, cela signie que les ltres
de cet appareil audio ne sont pas efcaces. On peut
résoudre ce problème en se procurant un appareil audio
dont l’alimentation est de meilleure qualité ou un ltre de
meilleure qualité.
SOURCE D’ALIMENTATION
Une batterie moyenne d’automobile ou de bateau, en-
tièrement chargée, fournira à l’onduleur environ 3 heures
d’alimentation électrique lorsque le moteur ne tourne pas.
La durée réelle de fonctionnement de l’onduleur dépend
de l’âge et de l’état de la batterie, ainsi que de la demande
d’énergie provenant de l’appareil relié à l’onduleur.
Fermez l’appareil branché à l’onduleur avant de démarrer
le moteur. Pour maintenir la puissance de la batterie, faites
tourner le moteur environ 10 minutes toutes les 2 à 3 heures
pour recharger la batterie. Même si l’onduleur PID-760 pré-
lève du courant de faible intensité lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé,
on doit le débrancher pour éviter de décharger la batterie.

AFFICHEUR À DEL
Les indications de l’afficheur renseignent sur l’état de
l’onduleur PID-760.
ENTRÉE DE TENSION : Tension de la batterie du véhi-
cule ou de la source d’alimentation CC / l’aide-démarrage
portatif.
SORTIE DE TENSION : Tension fournie à l’appareil par la
prise CA.
SORTIE D’ALIMENTATION : Courant ou puissance en
watts fourni à l’appareil branché dans l’onduleur.
Un avertisseur sonore se fait entendre lorsque les codes
suivants apparaissent. Pour faire cesser l’alarme, appuyez
sur l’interrupteur d’afchage :

BaD – L’onduleur ne fonctionne pas. Consultez la
garantie et communiquez avec le service à la clientèle
au 800-621-5485 (de 7 h à 16 h 30, heure normale du
Centre).
Hib – La tension de la batterie du véhicule est supérieure
à 15,5 volts. L’onduleur se remettra automatiquement en
marche lorsque la tension descendra sous 15,5 volts.
HiP – La demande de charge continue provenant de
l’appareil dépasse 760 watts.
HoT – L’onduleur est trop chaud et s’est fermé
automatiquement pour une période de 1 à 3 minutes,
an de refroidir. Assurez-vous que l’onduleur dispose
d’une bonne aération. Il se remettra automatiquement
en marche lorsqu’il aura refroidi.
Lo b – La tension de la batterie du véhicule est inférieure
à 10,5 volts.
SC – Court-circuit, surtension ou surcharge à l’intérieur
de l’appareil.
DÉPANNAGE
PROBLÈME : L’alarme sonne.
Raison/solution
1. L’afcheur indique SC.Uncourt-circuits’estproduit
à l’intérieur de l’appareil ou ce dernier demande
trop de courant transitoire de crête.
Fermez et ouvrez l’onduleur à quelques reprises.
Si le problème persiste, utilisez un onduleur plus
puissant ou un appareil plus petit.

Débranchez l’appareil défectueux.
Consultez la garantie et communiquez avec le
service à la clientèle au 800-621-5485 (de 7 h à 16
h 30, heure normale du Centre).
2. L’afcheur indique Lo b. La batterie de 12 volts est
trop faible.
Rechargez/remplacez la batterie faible.
3. L’afcheur indique une tension entre 10,5 et 11,0
volts.
La batterie de 12 volts est faible.
Rechargez/remplacez la batterie faible.
L’onduleur se fermera automatiquement lorsque la
tension de la batterie aura atteint 10,5 volts.
4. L’afcheur indique Hi b. La tension de 12 volts est
trop élevée.
Si la batterie est installée dans un véhicule, réparez/
remplacez l’alternateur ou le système de charge.
Utilisez une batterie de 12 volts dont l’intensité
nominale et la capacité sont adéquates.
Si la tension d’entrée revient à 15 volts ou moins,
l’onduleur se remettra automatiquement en marche.
5. L’afcheur indique Hi p. L’appareil nécessite une
puissance continue de plus de 760 watts.
Fermez et ouvrez l’onduleur à quelques reprises.
Si le problème persiste, utilisez un onduleur plus
puissant ou un appareil plus petit.

6. L’afficheur indique H o t. L’onduleur est trop
chaud.
Augmentez l’aération autour de l’onduleur.
Placez l’onduleur dans un endroit plus frais.
Réduisez la consommation de courant de l’appareil.
L’onduleur se remettra automatiquement en marche
lorsqu’il aura refroidi.
PROBLÈME : L’onduleur ne se met pas en marche.
Raison/solution
1. Mauvais contact aux bornes.
Débranchez et rebranchez l’onduleur PID-760.
2. Un fusible a sauté.
Lorsqu’un fusible saute, ceci est généralement
causé par une inversion de polarité ou un court-cir-
cuit à l’intérieur de l’onduleur. Pour remplacer le fus-
ible, communiquez avec un technicien qualié qui
effectuera le diagnostic et qui remplacera la ou les
fusibles par des pièces de rechange appropriées.
3. L’onduleur peut être défectueux.
Consultez la garantie et communiquez avec le
