OPERATING MANUAL STIMAWELL® 120MTRS EN
Dear customer,
We would like to thank you for deciding to acquire the StimaWELL®120MTRS. You now have a
high quality dynamic deep wave therapy system which has been designed to exploit the latest
technological advances in this field.
By means of a twelve channel, heat treatment stimulation mat you are now able to offer your
patient a multi-dimensional back treatment system. What is special about the Sti-
maWELL®120MTRS is the flow of complex electrical waves over the StimaWELL®Stimulation
Mat which thereby reach deep layers of the musculature. The system has been designed
predominantly for Pain Therapy, muscle therapy and massage. Your patient will benefit from
the increased range of options which you can now offer.
In addition, there is the thermal treatment effect provided by the StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat
which can be heated up to 40°C. The StimaWELL®120MTRS System provides a comprehensive
package for the prophylaxis and therapy of acute and chronic back complaints. In the fore-
ground and depending on the modulation of the stimulation, is Pain Therapy, muscle building,
muscle relaxation and also various types of massage such as tapping, stroking and kneading.
Based on these elements, the programs provide effective therapy combinations and are con-
tingent on diagnosis and clinic. The whole package represents for your patient an effective,
deeply relaxing therapy system.
Two of the many advantages of medium frequency stimulation compared with other types are
the attainment of a high level of patient compatibility and the soothing sensation which is
generated by the flow of electrical current. This process activates powerful muscle contrac-
tions and larger treatment areas and volumes can be addressed. The medium frequency cur-
rents of the StimaWELL®120MTRS System in the range 2000 –6000 Hz more easily overcome
the skin resistance aspect than currents in the lower frequency ranges. This means that for the
patient, therapy based on the flow of electrical current in the medium frequency range is
frequently experienced as particularly pleasurable rather than irritating.
The StimaWELL®120MTRS Systems is extremely easy to operate and requires no special prepa-
ration. Thanks to the 12 channels of the StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat, the possibly complicat-
ed connection of individual electrodes is unnecessary. Control via the intuitive touch screen is
simple and self-explanatory. Programs can be selected quickly and, if required, matched to the
specific needs of your patient. Thanks to the new mode Automatic Program Selection Based
On Indications with the StimaWELL®120MTRS System you have the option to automatically
select the appropriate therapy program according to the anamnestic data and which can be
applied in every therapy session. Your patient is at all times able to control the level of electri-
cal current via the remote control unit.

The following describes the set-up and first time starting for the
StimaWELL®120MTRS System:
1. Place the control unit on a smooth, even surface. Please ensure that the ventilation slits
are not covered.
2. Please ensure that the StimaWELL®120MTRS System and other electrical devices are not
positioned directly adjacent to each other nor stacked; this to avoid mutual interference.
Should this not be possible, the function of the respective devices must be monitored to
ensure proper function.
3. Connection For The Supply Voltage
The connection for the mains power cable is located
on the rear side of the StimaWELL®120MTRS Control
Unit. It should be checked that the available mains
power voltage and frequency values comply with the
data on the rating plate. The control unit is then to be
connected to the mains cable and the plug plugged
into the mains electricity socket.
4. Connecting The Remote Control Unit
Connect the remote control via the connection provided
on the rear side of the StimaWELL®120MTRS Control
Unit. When disconnecting the remote control from the

Setting The Mat Size6.3
If you touch on the display Representation
Of The StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat, there
opens a window in which you can set the
mat size.
With size L the stimulation wave moves via
all 12 channels of the StimaWELL®Stimula-
tion Mat. With size M the two lower chan-
nels are inactive, the wave moves only via
10 channels. With size S only 8 channels
are used whereby the 4 lower channels of
the StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat are inac-
tive. This enables the area of the stimula-
tion area to be adapted to the body size of
the patient.
In some therapy programs not all channels of the StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat but only a part
area of the cervical spine (CS), thoracic spine (TS) and lumbar spine (LS) are addressed. In such
cases and for each part area, 4 channels are active and their location matched exactly to the
size of the StimaWELL®Stimulation Mat.
The active channels appear in the window Select A Size in blue and in the Representation Of
The StimaWELL ®Stimulation Mat in the main menu in black; the inactive channels are shaded.
Please Note: The setting of the mat size is not possible if you have selected a patient for
whom Pain Therapy in the mode Automatic Program Selection Based On Indications is run-
ning.

Changing View6.4
If your patient is experiencing the electrical current on individual channels as being
too powerful or too weak, you can, during the therapy, select individual channels
and set their proportional intensity. However, it is recommended to use Changing
View only for fine tuning during the therapy and after you have already implemented a cali-
bration for your patient. More on calibration can be found in Section 9.2.3.
How and in what circumstances you can best use Changing View can be found in Section 10.
Therapy With The StimaWELL®120MTRS6.5
Once you have completed all the settings you can begin with the therapy. It is recommended
to create a patient profile which contains the settings for that particular patient. A profile
which has once been created can simply be selected for future sessions. The settings saved
under the profile are loaded automatically so that therapy can begin without further time
consuming preparations. In addition, you are able to input required anamnestic data in the
patient profile and thereby automatically create a therapy plan with a program which is
matched to the needs of your patient. More on the mode Automatic Program Selection Based
On Indications can be found in Section 9.2.4.1.The progression of the therapy with the Sti-
maWELL®120MTRS in the mode Automatic Program Selection Based On Indications is auto-
matically documented in the StimaWELL®120MTRS Control Unit and can therefore at all times
be recalled and evaluated. All important information on patient profiles can be found in Sec-
tion 9. Everything you need to know regarding the creation of patient profiles can be found in
Section 9.2.
The therapy starts with the selected program. More information regarding changing the pro-
gram group can be found in Section 7. Turn the rotary/pressure
controller in a clockwise direction to start the therapy and to
increase the intensity. Turning the controller in an anti-clockwise
direction decreases the intensity. The intensity display changes
accordingly. You can also change the intensity by first touching on
the display Intensity and then by touching on the [+] and [-] but-
tons. As an alternative, your patient can set his/her own intensity
level independently by depressing the arrows on the remote
control.
In the display Stimulation Time you see the remaining stimulation
time and the actual program sequence as well as the total num-
ber of sequences with which this program is comprised. By touch-
ing on the display Stimulation Time you can change between the
backwards and forwards running time.

The StimaWELL®Stimulation
Mat shows which channels are
currently actively stimulating
during a running stimulation. The active channels are indicated by an orange coloured marker.
This enables you to follow the progression of the stimulation wave.
With the button Pause you put the stimulation on hold and the intensity reverts to 0. If you
wish to continue the stimulation, the intensity should again be increased. The program then
runs from the point at which the pause was made. Using the remote control, your patient can
also put the stimulation on hold by depressing the pause button. Additionally, the running
program can also be put on hold by depressing the rotary/pressure button.
With the button Stop as well as twice depressing the rotary/pressure controller, the stimula-
tion is halted and the program, including the stimulation time is reset to the status at the
start.
If you activate the button Stop, you will be asked if you really want to
end the therapy session.
Touch on Yes to terminate the session and reset the program as well as the stimulation time
to the start status. Please note that In this case a session running in the mode Automatic
Program Selection Based On Indications is not saved and will not therefore be evaluated.
More on the mode Automatic Program Selection Based On Indications can be found in Section
9.2.4.1. Touch on No, only to pause the session. In this case the session can always be re-
started by turning on the rotary/pressure controller.
The StimaWELL®120MTRS System
contains the function "Contact
Control“. This prevents an uninten-
tional increase in the intensity
without the patient being on the
mat. If the StimaWELL®120MTRS Control Unit does not detect a flow of current in any of the
channels, the stimulation is switched off. The contact control cuts in from a level 15 intensity.
Please refer to Section 12.2.2 for how to switch off the contact control.
