Before starting the device, insert the battery in the battery compartment (no. 8). The hand probe (no. 16)
and the hand electrode (no. 15) must be connected to the respective output sockets of the Pointoselect
digital DT. Take particular care of the connecting pins of the hand probe while plugging the hand probe
in and out. Note that the hand probe can only be connected to its socket in one direction. Follow the
arrow on the hand probe and on the socket of the device.
The patient needs to hold the hand electrode and the acupuncturist needs to touch the patient.
Starting the device Start the Pointoselect digital DT by pressing the key. The last settings in use
appear on the display. The battery symbol on in the upper left hand side of the
display shows the state of charge. In case the battery is fully loaded, all battery
segments within the battery symbol are visible. The segments gradually disappear
as the battery voltage decreases.
If not used for 2 minutes (measurement or stimulation) the device switches off
automatically.
If the hand probe is not correctly connected to the Pointoselect digital DT, „no HS“

Both sensors of the hand probe are required for measurements.
Si Ear silver
Only silver points are detected and displayed on the device.
Both sensors of the hand probe are required for measurements.
Body
Exclusively the inner sensor is used for measurements in the body mode. Gold
and silver point detection is not active and therefore not displayed.
Measurement
The lower the sensitivity is (few bars on the display and deep acoustic signal), the more relevant the
point is for treatment.
Many bars on the display and high acoustic signal symbolize high sensitivity measurement and notify
many points around the area.
Automatic Point Detection
Both inner and outer sensors of the hand probe are required to search for ear
points. The sensitivity changes automatically and is displayed with bars and
respectively a number on the screen.
Each sensitivity level is attributed to a specific acoustic signal.
The fewer the bars the more precisely you have detected the acupuncture point
(very point).

Manual Point Detection
Both inner and outer sensors of the hand probe are required to search for ear
points.
The sensitivity can be adjusted manually in 16 steps by pressing the left + / -keys
of the device or the + / -keys of the hand probe. The selected sensitivity is
displayed with bars and respectively a number on the screen. Each sensitivity level
is attributed to a specific acoustic signal. The acoustic signal stops as soon as the
detected value is outside of the measurement range. The fewer the bars the more precisely you have
detected the acupuncture point (very point).
Gold/silver Point Detection
When a gold point is detected „Go“ appears on the display. The green LED is lighting on the hand probe
and the acoustic signal is continuous.
When a silver point is detected „Si“ appears on the display. The yellow LED is lighting on the hand probe
and the acoustic signal rings with a frequency of 2 Hz.
If you have selected the mode Go, only gold points will be detected and displayed.
If you have selected the mode Si, only silver points will be detected and displayed.

Always remove the battery if the device will not be used for a long period of time.
If rechargeable batteries are used, follow the instruction manual of the battery charger.
Used batteries must be returned to retailers or community collection points as per the battery usage
regulations.
Short Instruction to find an ear point
•For ear acupuncture you have to select a mode with the Ekey.
•Select the automatic mode with the M key.
•The patient needs to hold the hand electrode (metal bar) in one hand and the therapist needs to
touch the patient.
•Hold the hand probe at a 90 degree angle to where you want to find a point on the ear. Put the
probe near a point and apply a little pressure. If you can reduce the sensitivity (display and
sound) at least to half of the original value then you are exactly on the point.
•If you choose a manual mode (select with Mkey) you have to reduce the sensitivity slowly with
the minus key on the probe until you have reached at least half of the original value. If you
succeed, you are on the searched point.
•Press the probe a little harder to mark the point for needling it or stimulate the point with current.

Maintenance and Cleaning
No special care or cleaning agents are necessary for the Pointoselect digital DT. The Pointoselect digital
DT and the hand probe should be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth. Alcohol (70 %) applied to a soft
cloth can be used for cleaning purposes. Particular care must be taken when cleaning the tip of the hand
probe. Tissue and fat deposits can collect between the inner and outer sensors and cause faulty
measurements. To clean, carefully retract the outer sensor and wipe the inner sensor with a suitably
treated piece of cotton wool. We recommend to clean the sensors of the probe with a piece of cotton
wool after each use.
Ensure that no moisture enters the device and the hand probe. If moisture does enter the device or the
hand probe, then the device/hand probe must undergo a technical inspection before being used again.
Classification
The Pointoselect Digital DT has been designed as a class IIa product in accordance with appendix IX of
the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC.
Information on Battery Disposal and Recycling Disposal of batteries
Battery Act Section 18 – Information according to the German Batteries Act and in regards to the
EU guidelines
By recycling your used batteries via dedicated battery collection points you're contributing to protecting
our environment and the earth's natural resources. Batteries are made from important resources and
chemicals, including lead, cadmium, zinc, lithium and mercury. If batteries are disposed of as normal
municipal household waste, they'll be taken to a landfill site and those resources will be lost and will
contribute to the pollution of the environment. Recycling is one way you can help the environment.
You are bound by law to dispose of used batteries separately from other waste, using the
collection and recycling schemes available.
Your role in contributing to the recycling of waste batteries and in preventing pollution of the environment
is essential. Each used battery that you place in a recycling box will be taken apart and many of the
materials will be recovered and used to make new batteries or something else.
All batteries are labeled with the crossed-out wheeled bin below, to indicate that they should not be
disposed of as normal waste, but in specific recycling centres.
Batteries containing hazardous substances such as mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) are
marked with their chemical symbol as well.
We take back and recycle own used batteries free of charge if brought personally or mailed with
sufficient postage to the following address:
Pierenkemper GmbH
Ernst-Befort-Strasse 5-7
35578 Wetzlar / Germany
You may also contact your local authority for information on a recycling facility in your country/area that
will take your used batteries.
