This maintenance manual applies for
all Scope wheels from 2017 onwards
and provides you with all the infor-
mation you need to take care of your
MAINTENANCE

Scope hubs and to enjoy riding.
We advise you to keep this instruction

MAINTENANCE INTERVALS
To guarantee a hassle-free performance of your Scope wheels and hubs,
we recommend you to maintain them on a regular basis. For the hubs we
recommend the following maintenance intervals.

REQUIRED TOOLS
All Scope wheels come with high-quality bearings from either SKF or CeramicSpeed,
depending on your chosen model. For a proper installation and deinstallation of
the bearings we advise you to use the Scope Bearing Press set, which included the
following parts:

The maintenance procedure for the R3d, R4d, and R5d front wheel hubs is
the same as for the R3c, R4c, and R5c front wheel hubs.

REMOVING THE BEARINGS
To remove the bearings you’ll need the following tools:
• BearingInstallationTool(T1/T2/T3)
• 2xPlasticPresshead(T6)
Remove the end caps by inserting the bearing
installationtoolspindle(T1&T2)intoonesideof
the hub and gently tap out the end-caps on
bothsides(1&8).
Place the two small threaded plastic pressheads
(T6)onabearingasshownintheimageand
insertthebearingremovaltool(T1&T2).
Placethesmallspacer(T8)ontheoppositeside
ofthehubandstarttoscrewonthehandle(T3)
of the bearing removal tool
Gently increase the pressure until the
bearing is released.
Leavetheaxle(5)inplaceandrepeatsteps2-4
on the opposite side.

REPLACING THE BEARINGS
To replace the bearings you’ll need the following tools:
• BearingInstallationTool(T1/T2/T3)
• LongBearingPresshead(T4)
• ShortBearingPresshead(T5)
• 15mmGuide(T9)
Apply a small amount of grease on both
bearing seats of the hub.
Carefullyplaceonebearing(2)inthebearing
seat without applying pressure.
Placethelong1524/1528(T5)pressheadand
15mmguide(T9)onthebearingremovaltool
(T1&T2)withthe1524sidefacingthehub.
Slide the tool into the hub and place the short
1524/1528(T5)pressheadontheoppositeside,
thenscrewonthehandle(T3).

Gently tighten the bearing removal tool and
assure its correct position on the bearing.
Tighten the bearing removal tool until the
bearing is fully seated.
Check the alignment to make sure the bearing
runs smoothly.
Inserttheaxleintothehub(5).
Repeat steps 3-7 but do not use the 15mm
guide (T9).

the same as for the R3D, R4D, and R5D rear wheel hubs.

REMOVING THE BEARINGS
To remove the bearings you’ll need the following tools:
• BearingRemovalTool(T1/T2/T3)
• 1xPlasticPresshead(T6)
• LargeSpacer(T9)
• SmallSpacer(T8)
Remove the freehub and hub cap from the
hubbypullingitofftheaxle.
Removethefreehubspacerfromtheaxle.
Pull off the non-drive side hub cap by hand.
Placeasmallthreadedplasticpresshead(T6)
onthebearingremovaltool(T1&T2)andinsert
thetoolintotheaxlefromthedrivesideofthe
hub.
Placethesmallspacer(T8)onoppositeside
of the hub and screw on the bearing removal
toolhandle(T3).
Gently tighten until the bearing is released.
Takethehubaxle(11)turnitaroundandplace
it into the non-drive side of the hub.

Placethelargespacer(T7)ontheopposite
side of the hub and screw on the bearing
removaltoolhandle(T3).
Gently tighten the tool until the bearing is
released.
Place a small threaded plastic presshead
(T6)onthebearingremovaltool(T1&T2)
andinsertitintotheaxleonthenon-drive
side of the hub.

REPLACING THE BEARINGS
To replace the bearings you’ll need the following tools:
• Bearingremovaltool(T1/T2/T3)
• Longpresshead1524/1528(T4)
• Shortpresshead(1524/1528(T5)
• 15mmguide(T9)
Apply a small amount of grease onto both
bearing seats of the hub.
Carefullyplaceonebearing(2)onthebearing
seat on the drive-side without applying pressure.
Placethelong1524/1528(T5)pressheadand
the15mmguide(T9)onthebearingremoval
tool(T1&T2)withthe1524sidefacingthehub.
Slide the tool into the hub and place the short
1524/1528(T5)pressheadontheoppositeside,
thenscrewonthehandle(T3).

Inserttheaxleintothehub(11).
Carefullyplacetheotherbearing(13)inthe
bearing seat on the non-drive side without
applying pressure.
Gently tighten the bearing removal tool and
assure its correct position on the bearing.
Tighten the bearing removal tool until the
bearing is fully seated.
Check the alignment to make sure the bearings
run smoothly.
Repeat steps 3-7 but do not use the 15mm
guide(T9).
Placethefreehubspacer(7)onaxledriveside.
Placethelong1524/1528(T5)pressheadand
the15mmguide(T9)onthebearingremoval
tool(T1&T2)withthe1524sidefacingthehub.
