Introduction
ThisChapterprovidesdetailsoftheWireless HDIPCamera'sfeatures,
componentsandcapabilities.
Overview
TheWireless HDIPCamerahasanIntegratedMicrocomputerandahighqualityMegaPixel
OmniVisionCMOSSensor, enablingittodisplayhighqualitylivestreamingvideooveryour
wiredLAN,theInternet,andfortheWireless HDIPCamera,an802.11NWireless LAN.
UsingenhancedH.264technologies, theWireless HDIPCameraisabletostreamhighquality
videoandaudiodirectlytoyourPC.Thehighcompressioncapabilitiesof H.264 reduce
networkbandwidthrequirementstoamazinglylowlevels.
Furthermore,withthebuilt-ininfraredLEDs,theWireless IPcameracanprovideillumination
around5meterslongunderlowlightconditionsinasimple, economicalmanner.

yourexistingnetwork.
•IRLEDsSupport. EachWireless HDIPCamerahas6infraredLEDs .TheLEDscan
provideilluminationaround5meterslong,thatcanhelptooutputabettervideoquality
whileunderlow-lightconditionssuchasindoors,oncloudydays, orinthemorningor
evening.
•MotionDetection. Thisfeaturecandetectmotioninthefieldof view. TheWireless HD
IPCamerawill compareconsecutiveframestodetectchangescausedbythemovementof
largeobjects. ThisfunctiononlyworksindoorsduetothesensitivityoftheCMOS sensor.
Whenmotionisdetection,anE-mailalertcanbesent,orsomeotheractionmaybe
triggered.
•Flexible Scheduling. Youcanlimit access tothevideostream tospecifiedtimesusing
aflexibleschedulingsystem.TheMotionDetectionfeaturecanalsohaveitsownschedule,
soit isactiveonlywhenrequired.
•SDCardSlot.Withtheslot,youcaninserttheSD card tostorerecordingfiles.
•Syslog Support. IfyouhaveaSyslogServer,theWireless HDIPCameracansendits
logdata toyourSyslogServer.
•AudioSupport. Youcanlistenaswell aslook! Audioisencodedwiththevideoif
desired.Withbuilt-inmicrophone,itisusefulforbi-directionvoice conversation.
•Day/NightSwitch. Withtheday/nightswitchingfeature,youareabletoviewandrecord
betterimageseveninthedarkof night.
InternetFeatures
•User-definableHTTP/HTTPSportnumber.ThisallowsInternetGatewaystouse
"portmapping"sotheWireless HDIPCameraandaWebServercansharethesame
Internet IPaddress.
•DDNS Support. InordertoviewvideoovertheInternet,usersmustknowtheInternet
IPaddress of thegatewayusedbytheWireless HDIPCamera.ButiftheGatewayhasa
dynamicIPaddress, DDNS (DynamicDNS)isrequired.Since manyexistingGatewaysdo
notsupportDDNS,thisfunctionisincorporatedintotheWireless HD IPCamera.
•NTP (Network-Time-Protocol)Support. NTPallowstheWireless HDIPCamerato
calibrateitsinternalclockfromanInternet Time-Server.Thisensuresthatthetimestamp
onVideofromtheWireless HDIPCamerawillbecorrect.
SecurityFeatures
•UserAuthentication. Ifdesired,access tolivevideocanberestrictedtoknownusers.
Userswill havetoentertheirusernameandpasswordbeforebeingabletoviewthevideo
stream.
•Password-ProtectedConfiguration.Configurationdatacanbepasswordprotected, so
thatitonlycanbechangedbytheWireless HDIPCameraAdministrator.
Wireless Features
•Supports11nWirelessStations. The802.11nstandard providesforbackward
compatibilitywiththe802.11bstandard,so802.11n, 802.11b and 802.11g Wireless
stationscanbeusedsimultaneously.

•WiredandWireless NetworkSupport. TheWireless HDIPCamerasupportseither
wiredorwireless transmission.
•WEPSupport.FullWEPsupport(64/128 Bit)ontheWireless interface isprovided.
•WPA/WPA2Support.TheWPA Personal/WPA2Personalstandardisalsosupported,
allowingadvancedencryptionof wireless data.
•WPSSupport. WPS (Wi-FiProtectedSetup) cansimplifytheprocess ofconnectingany
devicetothewireless networkbyusingthepushbuttonconfiguration(PBC) onthe
Wireless HDIPCamera, orentering aPINcodeifthere'snobutton.

pressedandheldover10 seconds,thesettingsof Network
Camerawillbesettotheirdefaultvalues.
6. Power LED

BasicSetup
ThisChapterprovidesdetailsofinstallingandconfiguringtheWireless HD
IPCamera.
SystemRequirements
•TousethewiredLAN interface,astandard10/100BaseThub orswitchandnetworkcable
isrequired.
•TousetheWireless interface onthewireless model, otherWireless devicesmustbe
compliantwiththeIEEE802.11b,IEEE802.11gorIEEE802.11nspecifications.All

1. AssembletheCamera
AttachtheCameraStandtothecamera.
2. ConnecttheRJ-45Cable
ConnecttheWireless HDIPCameratoa10/100BaseThuborswitch, using thesupplied
RJ-45 cable.
ForthisModel,itwill disabletheWireless Interface. The
Wireless and LANinterfaces cannotbeusedsimultaneously.
UsingtheLANinterface isrecommendedforinitial
configuration.After theWireless settingsare correct, the
Wireless interface canbeused.
Thefirsttime you connectto thecamera, you should connect
theRJ-45 cableand configure theWireless HD IPCamera with
appropriatesettings.Then youcanunplugtheRJ-45 cable
and power off thecamera.TheWireless HD IPCamera willbe
in wireless interface when youpower onthecamera again.

Connectthesupplied12VpoweradaptertotheWireless HDIPCameraandpowerup.Use
onlythepoweradapterprovided. Usingadifferentonemaycausehardwaredamage.
4. ChecktheLEDs
•The Power LEDwill turnonbriefly, thenstartblinking.Itwillblinkduringstartup, which
takes55to57seconds.Afterstartupiscompleted,the Power LEDshouldremainON.

•ThecameraadministratorcanalsoadjusttheVideoStream,andrestrictaccess tothevideo
stream toknownusersbyrequiringviewerstosupplyausernameandpassword. See

2. In theAddress box, enter"HTTP://"andtheIPAddress of theWireless HDIPCamera.
3. Whenyouconnect,thefollowingscreenwillbedisplayed.

ConnectingtoaCameraviatheInternet
Youcan NOT connecttoacamera viatheInternetunless thecamera
Administratorhas configuredboth thecamera andtheInternetGateway/Router
usedbythecamera.
See MakingVideoavailablefromtheInternet in Chapter4-AdvancedViewingSetup for
detailsof therequiredconfiguration.
Also, youneedabroadbandInternetconnectiontoviewvideoeffectively. Dial-upconnections
areNOTsupported.
ToestablishaconnectionfromyourPCtotheWireless HDIPCameraviatheInternet:
1. ObtainthefollowinginformationfromtheAdministratorof thecamerayouwishto
connectto:
•Internet IPAddress orDomainNameof thecamera.
•PortnumberforHTTPconnections.
•Login(username,password) ifrequired.
2. StartInternet Explorer.
3. In theAddress box, enterthefollowing:
HTTP://Internet_Address:port_number
Where Internet_Address istheInternet IPaddress orDomainNameof thecamera,
and port_number istheportnumberusedforHTTP(Web)connectionstothecamera.
ExamplesusinganIPaddress:
HTTP://203.70.212.52:1024
WheretheInternetIPaddress is 203.70.212.52 and theHTTPportnumberis 1024.
Example usingaDomainName:
HTTP://mycamera.dyndns.tv:1024
WheretheDomainname(using DDNSinthisexample)is mycamera.dyndns.tv and
theHTTPportnumberis 1024.

Bydefault,anyonecanconnect totheWireless HDIPCameraandviewliveVideoatanytime.
Ifdesired,youcanlimitaccess toscheduledtimes,andalsorestrict access toknownusers.
To Control UserAccess toLiveVideo:
1. ConnecttotheWeb-basedinterface of theWireless HDIPCamera.(See Chapter5-Web-
basedManagement fordetails.)
2. Select Administration,then VideoAccess.
3. Setthedesiredoptionsfor Access.
Access
Selectthedesiredoptionasrequired:
•Ifthe UserAccess isenabled,userswillbepromptedforausernameand passwordwhen
theyconnecttothecameraforviewingvideo.
•WhenVideoAccess isenabled,viewingvideoisonlyavailableduringthescheduled
periods,andunavailableatothertimes.Ifthisoptionisselected, youneedtodefinea
schedule;otherwiseit isalwaysdisabled.
However, viewingvideoisstillpossiblebylogginginastheAdministrator.
