1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter™.
The SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter has been designed, engineered and manufactured
by SGK Lifters Pty Ltd to the highest standards to ensure long term trouble free
operation.
When designing the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter, SGK Lifters Pty Ltd has placed
the safety of the operator as the number one priority.
With this in mind, prior to operating the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter it is very
important that the information documented in the SGK AL-12 AirLight lifter's
operating instruction manual is read and thoroughly understood.
By following the operating instructions outlined in the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter
operator’s manual you will have many years of trouble free operation.

line voltage. Failure to observe this warning may result in
personal injury, death, or equipment damage.
CAUTION SIGN
Failure to observe a caution may result in equipment damage.
INSTRUCTION MANUAL FAMILIARISATION SIGN
Before using the tool, the operating instructions as detailed in
instruction manual must be carefully read.
RECYCLE SIGN
Information relating to the AirLight Lifter at the end of its useful
life (EOL). Correct disposal and recycling.
PPE COMPLIANCE SIGN
Requirement to wear personal protective equipment.

3. OPERATING MANUAL FAMILIARISATION
Warning
To ensure that the operator has all of the operating instructions at hand
including important safety information, it is essential that the SGK AL-12
AirLight Lifter operator’s instruction manual remains with the SGK AL-12
AirLight Lifter tool at all times.
4. SAFETY STATEMENT
Warning
The warnings and safety instructions as documented in the SGK AL-12
AirLight Lifter manual are not meant to cover all of the possible operating
conditions and situations that may occur.
The operator of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter should exercise caution and
care at all times when operating the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter.
It should be noted that the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter is specifically
designed as an extraction tool and is not intended for carrying the
luminaire fixture.

5. SGK AL-12 STATEMENT OF INTENDED USE
The SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter has been engineered as a tool for the safe and
efficient extraction of 12” luminaire fixtures from their containment canisters.
The SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter has been specifically designed to extract airfield
lighting inset luminaire fixtures fitted with round extraction locators.
Figure 5.1 illustrates the application of the SGK AL-12 to the inset luminaire
fixture.
Using the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter outside of the design limitations or the
manufacturer's specified use may result in the degradation of performance,
damage or failure of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd considers any application of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter
other than or beyond the established use to be inappropriate use of the SGK AL-
12 AirLight Lifter.
The SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter must not be modified in any manner.
Any unauthorised modifications to the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter will void the
manufacturer's warranty.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd is not responsible for damage to third party property caused
by correct or incorrect use of this device.

7. SGK AL-12 PRE USE INSPECTION PROCEDURES
Warning
Never assume that the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter is ready to use straight
out of the box, the tool should be carefully inspected prior to operating to
ensure that the tool and the operating parts as depicted in the illustration
on page 5 are in a serviceable condition.
It is the responsibility of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter operator to inspect
and check the tool prior to use. If the tool is found to be defective in any
way remove the tool from service and contact SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.
8. SGK AL-12 ELECTRICAL WARNING
Danger Warning
Risk of electric shock.
Failure to observe the following warnings may result in
personal injury, death or equipment damage.
It should be noted that the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter is not an electrically
insulated device and should be treated with caution when operating.
Before attempting to service the luminaire fixture the circuit must be
isolated and locked out.
The constant current regulator must also be electrically isolated so that
the circuit cannot be energised by remote means.
The circuit must have no power and be proved de-energised prior to
commencement of work.
Allow sufficient time for the luminaire fixture to cool as the high interior
temperatures may cause severe burns.

9. SGK AL-12 OPERATING PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS
Warning
Only airfield lighting maintenance personnel who are familiar with the use
of hand tools and thoroughly understand the requirements for the safe
operation of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter should operate the tool.
Airfield lighting maintenance personnel should be physically capable of
performing the required task.
10. SGK AL-12 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Failure to observe the following personal protective
equipment warning notice may result in personal injury.

Warning
Noncompliance with the manufacturer's instructions as documented within
the user manual may result in an injury or may cause damage to the SGK
AL-12 AirLight Lifter.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd accepts no responsibility for the improper use of the
SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter.
If the device is broken or needs repair it must be removed from service and
not used. Contact SGK Pty Ltd for repairs.

Section One: General Use
Section One: Step 1
USING THE APPROPRIATE TOOL CAREFULLY REMOVE THE LUMINAIRE FIXTURE
RETAINING FASTNERS.
Section One: Step 2
USING THE MAGNET CAREFULLY REMOVE WASHERS.
(Note: Some washers may not be metallic)

A. FIT LEVER INTO THE HOLE PROVIDED IN THE LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.
B. WITH THE LEVER ANGLED DOWNWARDS APPLY INWARD AND DOWNWARD
PRESSURE ON LEVER TO RELEASE ONE SIDE OF THE LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.
Section One: Step 4
A. FIT LEVER INTO THE OPPOSITE HOLE PROVIDED IN THE LUMINAIRE
FIXTURE.B. WITH THE LEVER ANGLED DOWNWARDS APPLY INWARD AND
DOWNWARD PRESSURE ON LEVER TO RELEASE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE
LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.

FIRST ENGAGE PIVOT EXTRACTION BAR IN THE LIFTING HOLE PROVIDED ON
THE INSET LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.
(Note: Always use pivot extraction bar to engage first).

THEN RETURN TO THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN SECTION ONE: STEP 3.

Section Two: Removing tool from luminaire fixture
Section Two: Step 1
A. PULL BACK SLIGHTLY ON PIVOT.
B. LIFT REAR OF TOOL JUST ENOUGH TO RELEASE FIXED EXTRACTION BAR.
Section Two: Step 2
A. PUSH PIVOT FORWARD WHIST KEEPING TOOL AS LEVEL AS POSSIBLE.
B. LIFT PIVOT EXTRACTION BAR OUT OF LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.

REMOVE EXTRACTOR TOOL FROM LUMINAIRE FIXTURE.
15. SGK AL-12 HANDLING AND STORAGE
The SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter should be handled carefully at all times.
When not in use, the tool should be stored in an appropriate manner in the box
provided for this purpose. (As illustrated in the picture below)

16. RECYCLING THE SGK AL-12 AIRLIGHT LIFTER
Recycling
Most of the materials used to manufacture the SGK AL-12 AirLight
Lifter can be recycled.
It should be noted however that the materials must be correctly
separated prior to sending to an environmentally compatible recycling
facility.

Warning
Unauthorised operation and use of the SGK AL-12 AirLight Lifter may
result in personal injury, property and / or equipment damage and
may void the manufacturer's warranty.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd cannot be held responsible for injuries or damages
resulting from non standard or unintended use of the SGK AL-12
AirLight Lifter.

18. SGK LIFTERS PTY LTD PRODUCT WARRANTY PROVISIONS
THE FOLLOWING WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER
WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, BUT
NOT BY WAY OF LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd warrants to each original purchaser of the tool manufactured
by SGK Lifters Pty Ltd that such products are, at the time of sale to the purchaser
free of material and workmanship defects, provided that no warranty is made
with respect to:
(a) Any SGK AirLight Lifter which has been repaired or altered in such a way,
that in SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.'s judgment or opinion, as to affect the product;
(b) Any SGK AirLight Lifter which has, in SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.'s judgment or
opinion, been subject to negligence, accident or improper storage;
(c) Any SGK Lifters Pty Ltd product which has not been operated and
maintained in accordance with normal practice;
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.'s obligation under this warranty is limited to the use of
reasonable efforts to replace or repair the product.
SGK Lifters Pty Ltd will reject warranty to any product which in SGK Lifters Pty
Ltd.'s judgment proved not to be warranted within the applicable warranty
period.
All costs of transportation of products claimed not to be as warranted and of
repaired or replacement products to or from SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.'s service facility
shall be borne by the purchaser.

SGK Lifters Pty Ltd may require the return of any product claimed not to be
warranted to SGK Lifters Pty Ltd.'s service facility by transportation prepaid by
purchaser, to establish a claim under the warranty.
The cost of labour for installing a repaired or replacement product shall be borne
by the purchaser on products claimed not to be warranted.
Replacement parts provided under the terms of this warranty are warranted for
the remainder of the warranty period of the products upon which they are
installed to the same extent as if such parts were original components thereof.
Warranty services provided under the Warranty Agreement do not assure
uninterrupted operation of products. SGK Lifters Pty Ltd does not assume any
liability for damages caused by any delays involving warranty service.
The warranty period for the products is 12 months from the date of sale.
Warranty is void if the product has been tampered with, modified or altered by
the user.

There are inherent risks to using the SGK AL-12 lifter, consequently SGK Lifters
Pty Ltd, advise that when using the tool, operators must at all times exercise all
due care and attention.
