Units shipped to the U.S.A and Canada are designed
for operation on 120 V AC only.
Safety precaution for a polarized AC plug.
However, some products may be supplied with a non-
polarized plug.

FOR YOUR SAFETY
Units shipped to Australia are designed for operation
on 240 V AC only.
To ensure safe operation the three-pin plug supplied
must be inserted only into a standard three-pin power
point which is effectively earthed through the normal
household wiring. Extension cords used with the
equipment must be three-core and be correctly
wired to provide connection to earth. Wrongly wired
extension cords are a major cause of fatalities. The fact
that the equipment operates satisfactorily does not
imply that the power point is earthed and that the
installation is completely safe. For your safety, if in any
doubt about the effective earthing of the power point,
consult a qualified electrician.

All units are suitable for use on supplies 220~240V AC.

FOR YOUR SAFETY
Units shipped to countries other than the above coun-
tries are equipped with an AC voltage selector switch
on the rear panel. Refer to the following paragraph for
the proper setting of this switch.
AC VOLTAGE SELECTION
This unit operates on 110-120 V AC. The AC voltage
selector switch Type A on the rear panel is set to the
voltage that prevails in the area to which the unit is
shipped. Before connecting the power cord to your
AC outlet, make sure that the setting position of this
switch matches your line voltage. If not, it must be set
to your voltage in accordance with the following direc-
tion

Rear Panel Connections .-
* Do not plug AC input cord into the AC outlet when making connections.
* Be sure to connect the white RCA plugs to the L(Left) jacks and the red RCA plugs to the R(Right) jacks when
making connections.
@ FM INDOOR ANTENNA .
Connect the supplied antenna to the FM antenna terminals, as shown in the Rear Panel Connection Diagram.
Change the position of the antenna until you get the best reception of your favorite stations.
@ FM OUTDOOR ANTENNA
A 75 Q outdoor FM antenna may be used to further improve the reception.
Disconnect the indoor antenna before replacing it with the outdoor one.
@ AM LOOP ANTENNA
Tune in your favorite AM station and position the loop antenna for best reception. Try other stations and find the
position that gives best overall reception. When this unit is mounted in a rack or placed on a shelf with insufficient
space behind, hang it on a wall in the direction which gives best reception.
NOTE : If noise is heard during AM reception, move LOOP for best reception.
To prevent undesired noise, AM LOOP ANTENNA should be located away from the DIGI-LINK cord over
12 inches (30 cm). .
AM LOOP ANTENNA SETTING
Stand and place it on a shelf
or hang it on a wall.
@ SYSTEM GROUND TERMINAL
To reduce hum to a minimum, connect the ground lead from your TURNTABLE to this terminal.
(©) PHONO INPUT JACKS
Connect these jacks to the output cords of a turntable with MM(Moving Magnet) type cartridge.
© CD INPUT JACKS
Connect these jacks to the OUTPUT jacks of a CD player.
@ TAPE 1 PLAY INPUT JACKS
Connect these jacks to the PLAY OUTPUT jacks of your cassette deck.

@ CENTER SPEAKER TERMINALS
Connect the center speaker to these terminals.
NOTE : For safe receiver operation we recommend the use of 8 ohm speakers.
@) REAR SPEAKER TERMINALS
Connect the rear speakers to these terminals.
NOTE:
¢ Make sure that the positive (+) and negative(-) terminals on the speakers are connected.to the corresponding
terminals on the receiver.
@) SWITCHED AC OUTLET
Power supplied through this outlet is turned on and off by its POWER button.
NOTE : The power consumption of the connected equipment should not exceed 100 watts.
@ AC INPUT CORD
Plug this cord into a wall AC outlet.

@ POWER BUTTON
Press this button to turn the power on. Press again to turn the power off, then the STANDBY/MUTE indicator lights
up and it switches to the standby mode.
When you press the INPUT FUNCTION SELECTOR buttons in the standby mode, the power is automatically
turned on and the program source is selected.
It can also be used as a system power button, if you connect the components to the switched AC outlet.
Sherwood DIGILINK II and IIT components wiu automatecall be switched on and off through the DIGILINK system
@ SPEAKER A, B SELECTOR SWITCHES
" These switches allow you to select various combinations of speakers as follows ;
* Press A or B switch to turn on either pair of speakers.
« Press A and B switches to turn on both pairs of speakers.
« When using headphones for private listening, press A and B switches again to turn off both pairs of speakers.
NOTE : If both speaker switches are pressed to turn on and only one pair of speakers is connected to the receiver, no
sound will be heard from the connected speakers. _
* The surround mode must be switched off to allow remote B speakers to produce all signals.
@ HEADPHONE JACK
Stereo headphones with a standard 1/4 inch plug can be plugged into this jack for private listening.
¢ The surround mode must be switched off for headphone listening
@ TUNING UP/DOWN BUTTONS
Press these buttons to change the selected AM or FM frequency.
(©) FM MODE BUTTON
Press this button to select stereo or mono mode when listening to FM broadcasts.
@© AUTO/MANUAL TUNING BUTTON
Press this button to select auto or manual tuning.
@ DIRECT BUTTON
Press this button to enter directly the frequency of the desired station.
MEMORY BUTTON
Press this button to memorize the desired station frequency.
@ 30 STATIONS RANDOM PRESET TUNING BUTTONS
Use these buttons to memorize or recall the preset number of the desired station frequency. When selecting a two
digit number, the second dight should be pressed within 2 seconds after the first digit has been pressed.
BASS CONTROL
Adjust the low frequency level with this control according to your taste and room acoustics.

@) TREBLE CONTROL
Adjust the high frequency level with this control according to your taste and room acoustics.
¢ Be careful not to overdrive the speakers with the bass and treble control.
@® BALANCE CONTROL
Adjust the sound volume balance between front left and right speakers with this control.
@ VCR2 SELECTOR SWITCH
Push
this
switch
in
to
select
the
VCR2
on
the
front,
or
push
it
out
to
select
the
VCR2
on
the
rear.
@ VCR 2/CAMCORDER INPUT JACKS
Connect these jacks to the corresponding OUTPUT jacks of a extra VCR or a camcorder.
5 INPUT FUNCTION SELECTOR BUTTONS
Press the button to select the desired program source; PHONO, AM, FM, TAPEI, CD, VCR2 or VCR1.
TAPE 2 MONITOR BUTTON
When performing playback or recording on the cassette deck connected to the TAPE 2 MONITOR jacks, press this
button so that the TAPE 2 MONITOR indicator lights up.
When another input source is selected the TAPE2 MONITOR will automatically turn off.
@ RESET BUTTON
If normal operation is impossible because of external influences such as static electricity, etc. or even when function
buttons are pressed, turn the power off and press and hold down this button for more than 5 seconds.
When resetting or in power failure for more than 2 weeks, etc., because the programmed contents are all cleared, you
should
reprogram
all
presets.

STANDBY/MUTE INDICATOR
This indicator lights up when in the standby mode and flickers when the mute button is pressed.
REMOTE SENSOR
This receives the signals from the remote control unit.
@) SURROUND MODE BUTTON
Press this button to select the desired surround mode.
Each time this button is pressed, the mode changes as follows.
— DOLBY PRO LOGIC — DOLBY 3 STEREO — OFF 7
@) CENTER MODE BUTTON
Press this button to select the desired center mode when in the DOLBY PRO LOGIC or DOLBY 3 STEREO mode.
Each time this button is pressed, the center mode changes as follows.
