•Ensure that the radio frequencies are not used for other purposes and are not affected by
other interfering signals. This should be ensured within the operating range of the
localization system.
•Interference in the frequency band used can impair the system and, in extreme cases, lead
to localization failure.
Physical access
•Restrict physical access to the device to qualified personnel.
•Disable unused physical interfaces of the device. Unused interfaces could be used to gain
access to the operating site.
Recycling and disposal
The products are low in harmful substances, can be recycled and meet the requirements of
the Directive 2012/19/EU for disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Observe the following safety information for operation of the transponder in hazardous
areas.
WARNING
Comply with general regulations
•Compliance with general legal regulations or guidelines on occupational safety, accident
prevention regulations and environmental protection laws, such as the Industrial Safety
Ordinance (BetrSichV) or applicable national regulations, is required.
•In view of the risk of dangerous electrostatic charging, wear suitable clothing and
footwear.
•Avoid heat exposures outside the permissible ambient temperature range, see section
"Technical specifications (Page 21)".
•Avoid the effects of moisture on the transponder.
•IEC 60079-17 requires the owners of electrical installations in hazardous areas to have
them inspected for proper condition by a skilled electrician.
•Compliance with the relevant installation and operation regulations for electrical
installations is required (e.g. Directives 99/92/EC and 2014/34/EU, BetrSichV or the
applicable national regulations, IEC 60079-14 and DIN VDE 0100).

If you use damaged parts, there is no guarantee that the transponder will function
according to the specification.
If you use damaged parts, this can lead to the following problems:

•Damage to the transponder and other components

WARNING

•Repairs to explosion-protected equipment may only be carried out by authorized persons
with original replacement parts and in accordance with the state of the art. The
applicable provisions for this must be complied with.
•Repairs must be carried out in accordance with IEC 60079-19.
•All application settings must be re-entered. For this reason, you must perform a restart
after a repair.
•For applications in hazardous areas, only a device and an electronics module with
corresponding Ex approval is permitted to be used. Order replacement parts from your
authorized representative. You will find the serial number on the nameplate of the
device located inside the device.
WARNING
Risk of serious injury due to electrostatic charging
•Use only a moist cloth to clean the transponder.
•When selecting the right cleaning agent, pay attention to its suitability, since damage to
seals and connections may occur otherwise. Flammable products are generally not
permitted.

Damage due to incorrect transport or storage
•Transport and storage of the transponder is only permitted in its original packaging.
•The transponder must be stored in a dry place.
NOTICE
LABS (paint-wetting impairment substances)
When opening and working inside the transponder in LABS-restrictive ar
eas, it is required for
hands, work tools and the cover to be cleaned to prevent contamination to and from the
interior of the transponder. Even if LABS have deliberately not been processed, minimal
residues cannot be ruled out.

localization in the RTLS localization system.
It sends data packets to gateways for
position determination. This processed data
is then transmitted to the Locating Manager
server.

3.3 LED status indicator
The operating states of the transponder are indicated by the internal LED. These can assume
the states from and briefly light up .

Red LED is off when the transponder is in operation
Red LED lights up once for 1.5 seconds at system startup
Flashes red (user LEDs flash) if you trigger flashing via the Locating Manager. You
can configure the duration and frequency of flashing via the Locating Manager.

4.1 Notes on installation
WARNING
Read and observe all safety-relevant information
Before you install the transponder, read this document carefully to ensure trouble-free and
safe installation and commissioning.
WARNING
Risk of serious injury due to incorrect installation, removal or commissioning
procedure
•Only qualified personnel are permitted to perform installation, removal and
commissioning work.
•
When defining the drill holes, you must provide sufficient minimum spacing between the
individual drill holes and between the drill holes and the housing wall so that the
transponder withstands an impact test.
•Use only suitable tools when handling the transponder.
•Ensure that the components are in perfect condition before installation.
The transponder can only be used in conjunction with the RTLS localization system. The radio
address of the transponder can be obtained from the data matrix code printed on the
transponder.
Install the transponder such that it has a direct line-of-sight connection to the gateways (360°
panorama view). Any type of material can impact wireless localization. Wireless localization
through metal is not possible. In this case, localization via wireless reflections can occur,
which results in inaccurate determination of the location.
Check the transponder for damage before installation. The specified operating temperature
ranges must be observed.

The transponder contains 2 lithium batteries.
WARNING
Risk of serious injuries
•Only change the batteries outside of hazardous areas or in the absence of explosive
atmospheres.
•Do not transport batteries through hazardous areas.
•Use only approved battery types for operating the transponder.
•Operate the transponder in hazardous areas only with the battery holders.
•Improper handling of batteries can lead result in fires and burns.
The housing is installed using the screw channels located outside the sealed chamber. Fasten
the transponder using the four 5 mm holes located there and with screws suitable for them.
The upper and lower parts of the housing are screwed together with M4 screws. Tighten the
M4 screws with a torque of 1.2 Nm.
Battery change
WARNING
Use approved batteries
Installation of non-approved or damaged batteries may result in damage to the transponder
or its surroundings. Only use batteries approved by the manufacturer, see section "Technical
specifications (Page 21)". Before inserting the batteries, make sure that they are not
damaged.
Proceed as follows to change the batteries in the transponder:
1. Open the housing of the transponder with a suitable tool.
2. Use only batteries of the same type and same charge level.
3. Remove the batteries to be replaced with the battery holders and wait 30 seconds before
inserting the new batteries with battery holder with the correct polarity. Never operate the
transponder with only a single battery.
4. Verify the correct installation of the battery and battery holder.
5. Close the housing of the transponder with a suitable tool.
