1. INTRODUCTION
The ZIPR i a low co t Z-Wave over Internet Protocol (Z/IP) Gateway reference de ign, allowing
Ethernet client to acce the Z-Wave Home Area Network (HAN). With the ZIPR connected to an
internet router, client out ide the home can connect to it through the internet via the ervice
provider’ portal with any AJAX (A ynchronou JavaScript and Hyper Text Markup Language)
compatible web brow er.

2. NGIN RING UI PC APPLICATION SOFTW R INSTALLATION
2.1 About
Thi ection cover the tep for in tallation, execution and u age of the PC application oftware,
Engineering UI. Engineering UI i a Z-Wave web gateway that act a a ecure Z-Wave tatic controller
on a cla ic Z-Wave network or a Z-Wave over IP client. A uch, it upport Z-Wave certification device
from multiple vendor .
Sy tem Requirement
•Window XP and 7 for 32 & 64 bit PC
•AJAX capable default brow er uch a Internet Explorer 8 & 9; Firefox 6.0, Chrome 13.
The diagram hown in thi guide are for Window XP with Internet Explorer 8 unle otherwi e
pecified.
2.2 Installation
On running ZHCWeb_Setup.exe or ZIPHCWeb_Setup.exe, for the cla ic or Z/IP ver ion re pectively, the
following will be the elf explanatory flow of creen with minor difference for the ver ion .

Launching the program can be done from the la t tep of etup or from the Window tart menu.
By default port 8088 i u ed. However u er can pecify the port u ing the Z-Wave Configuration. Al o
an advanced u er may tart multiple erver on different port u ing the Z-Wave Ho t Controller [with
port number] option. There i al o a facility to re et pa word to default. The launcher run the erver
con ole (if not already tarted, hown below) and the default web brow er.

2.3 Using ngineering UI
The Engineering UI i the mo t flexible UI, enabling all Z-Wave feature .
2.3.1 Home
After ucce ful login, the u er can ee the Home page if the controller ha already been initialized. All
web page have a navigation menu on the left. The home page how the detail of the local controller.
The u er may log out anytime by clicking “Logout” Menu option. The menu i u ed to navigate to the
other page de cribed in the following chapter .

2.3.2 Initialization
2.3.2.1 Classic
The etting page hown below allow electing the erial port to connect to the tatic controller device.
The erial port mu t be cho en and initialized, a hown in the diagram below. UZB port are li ted fir t
followed by other COM port . Refre h how newly in erted UZB .
After election, when Initialize i pre ed, the progre i hown by the number of node that may need
to be redi covered if previou network tate had not been made per i tent on thi machine.
On ucce ful initialization, the port i hown a “currently configured”. Now the other page will be
populated with network information.

2.3.2.2 Z/IP Local
The etting page allow entering/ electing IP addre & UDP port to connect to the Z/IP gateway.
When ‘Refre h’ button i pre ed, Z/IP gateway di covery i initiated. Upon completion, the new li t of
gateway addre e i hown.
After Initialize i pre ed, on ucce ful initialization, the addre i hown a “currently configured” and
the port a “bu y”. Now the other page will be populated with network information.
2.3.2.3 Z/IP Portal
The etting page allow the following operation :
•Add a new client
oEnter ‘Client Id’, ‘Client PIN’, re t of the portal configuration and pre ‘Add / Update’
button
•Update an exi ting client
oSelect the entry from ‘Unregi tered Client ’ or ‘Regi tered Client ’; update any configuration
and pre ‘Add / Update’ button
•Remove a client from ‘Unregi tered Client ’ or ‘Regi tered Client ’
oSelect the entry from the li t and pre ‘Remove’ button corre ponding to the li t
•Regi ter a client
oSelect it from ‘Unregi tered Client ’ and pre ‘>’ button.

•Unregi ter a client
oSelect it from ‘Regi tered Client ’ and pre ‘<’ button.
Pre ing ‘Default’ button fill the field with default etting . Pre ing ‘Clear’ button clear the field . If
a regi tered client get initialized to the portal, the corre ponding entry under ‘Regi tered Client ’ i
hown a ‘bu y’.
Limitation: Contrary to practical cenario, at any given time, only one gateway can remain initialized
with the portal. Any ub equent connection reque t will be rejected, if a gateway i already initialized.
To allow a different gateway to be initialized, any exi ting initialized gateway mu t be unregi tered.

2.3.3 Network Manager
The network manager li t node in the network and allow network operation like include/exclude.
The Z-Wave node/vendor/product ID, product type and categorie are hown. Further:
•Node that upport Z-Wave+ are hown with a ‘Z+’ icon.
•Securely included node that are with a lock icon.
•Security capable node that were included in ecurely are hown with a cro ed lock icon.
•Failed node are hown in red and can be elected for replace/remove failed node operation .
Z-Wave+ information and ver ion information from the node i al o di played at the bottom when the
“>>” icon in the node entry i clicked.

2.3.4 Controller

2.3.5.15 User Code
2.3.5.16 Wake up
It i trongly recommended that thi controller be et a the notified node. Otherwi e it will not be able
to de-queue command for thi node.
2.3.5.17 Command Queuing
Command queuing i an advanced function. Only ju t after including a leep-capable node, it i to be
turned off for configuration and turned on afterward . Otherwi e it i trongly recommended to leave it
on and command queuing work tran parently.
For failure ca e e.g. when the controller i not notified on a node’ wake up and the command in the
queue i never removed, thi UI allow removal of command from the queue.
