INSTALLATION
The 8340 can be mounted indoors or outdoors. Find a location near a 120V wiring source
(230/240V for international models). Install the 8340. near eye level if possible.
CONNECTING THE TRANSFORMER
120 VAC in United States, Canada and Mexico; 230 VAC in Europe, and 240 VAC in UK,
Middle East, Australia and South Africa.
NOTE: Refer to and follow local codes if different from these instructions.
CAUTION: Disconnect 120V (230/240V) power source before wiring the transformer. Complete
all wiring and installation before connecting the transformer to power source. This will avoid
accidental shorting which could damage the controller.
Power supply cables and cords used for connections are to be of ordinary duty or greater. Low
voltage output cables should be enclosed in conduit affixed to the controller with a suitable
adapter. Remove the transformer cover by loosening the two screws. Attach AC wires to
transformer wires using wire nuts. Also, ensure earth ground wire is attached to green with
yellow stripe ground wire. Please check local codes for the grounding requirements in your area.
Bundle wire with cable tie loop and tighten cable tie to prevent loose wiring from touching
secondary circuits. The transformer is now wired. Replace the transformer cover and the two
screws.
DO NOT turn on power yet.
NOTE: Failure to ground unit properly may cause severe damage to the controller and/or
personal property and will void warranty
LOW VOLTAGE WIRING
Low voltage output cables should be enclosed in conduit affixed near the controller. (For field
connection, AC wires must have an insulation rated at 75° C minimum). Conduit should be
secured near the case (follow local codes). Field wiring is best accomplished with the AC
disconnected from the unit.
TERMINAL STRIP
All zone, pump and sensor wire connections made inside the 8340 utilize screw type connectors
that require a small screwdriver. The terminal strips in the controller accept 12 AWG (2.1mm)
wire or smaller.
(See Figure 1 on page 4)
CONNECTING MASTER VALVE OR PUMP-START RELAY
The 8340 is equipped with a shared circuit to operate either a pump-start relay or a master
valve. Connect one wire from the pump-start relay to COM (common) on the terminal strip, the
other to PMP/MV (pump/master valve) on the terminal strip. Refer to the pump-start relay
manufacturer’s instructions for specific installation details. (See Figure 1 on page 4)

www.SignatureControlSystems.com Page 4
CONNECTING SENSORS
The 8340 is equipped with one sensor port to run a normally open, normally closed, or pulse
type flow sensor. The port is user defined via the SCS-Share.com web site. To connect a
sensor, connect the sensor wires to the S1 terminals. Refer to the sensor manufacturer’s
instructions for specific installation details. Define sensor type via SCS-Share. (See Figure 1)
NOTE: Manual operations will ignore an activated rain sensor

CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET
The 8340 is equipped with built in Wi-Fi for easy connection to the internet through your home
or business’ Wi-Fi system.
NOTE: 5GHz Wi-Fi Networks are not supported. If your router is 5GHz capable, please make
sure you connect your 8340 to the 2.4GHz Network only.
There are two ways you can pair your controller to your router: Method 1: By pushing the
“WPS” button on your router or, Method 2: by using our mobile app to manually enter your
router’s name and password into the controller. Select the method that is easiest for you.
Method 1 (WPS METHOD): Pairing Your Controller to Your Router by Pushing the WPS
(Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Button on Your Router
Step 1: Push the “WPS” button on your router. Refer to your router’s
owners’ manual for information about where to find this button on
your router. The button may have an icon that looks something like
one of these:
Step 2: Within 1 minute of pressing the router’s WPS button, push and hold the “Set Up” and
“Manual Start” buttons on your controller simultaneously for approximately 5 seconds or until
LED 1 remains flashing and all other LEDs are off (See Figure 2).
Figure 2

www.SignatureControlSystems.com Page 6
Step 3: Your controller will automatically establish connection to your router and connect to the
internet. You will know the process is complete and the controller is connection online when
LED 1 is flashing and LED 2 is solid. This process should take 2 to 3 minutes.
Method 2 (MOBILE APP METHOD): Pairing Your Controller to Your Router Using Our
Mobil App
What you will need:
1) SCS Mobile App downloaded onto your Apple or Android mobile device*
2) Your Router’s SSID (Name)
3) Your Router’s Password
*NOTE: THE SCS MOBILE APP IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE AT THE IPHONE AND ANDROID
STORES. FROM THE APP STORE, SEARCH FOR “SCS SHARE” TO DOWNLOAD THE
APP.
Step 1: Press the “Setup” button on the controller’s circuit board for 5 seconds or until LED 1 is
flashing and all other LEDs are off. Release the button then wait approximately an additional 30
seconds more until LEDs 1, 3 and 4 are flashing and 2 is off before proceeding to the next step
off (See Figure 2 on page 6).
Step 2: Go to the “Settings” page of your mobile phone. Select
“Wi-Fi”then “CHOOSE A NETWORK.”
Your controller should now be visible on the list of networks to connect to.
Look for “SCS-ShareXXXX”or “MyController-XXXX, where XXXX is a unique
code specific to your controller. If there is no unique code in place of XXXX,
continue the setup process anyway. This will not affect your controller’s
performance or ability to pair your controller to the router.
Step 3: Select your controller as the access point you want to connect to then
exit out of the “Settings” page of your mobile phone.
Step 4: Open the SCS SHARE app on your
mobile phone. At the “log in” page you should
now see “WiFi APMode” instead of “Log In.”
Click on “WiFi APMode”to continue.

www.SignatureControlSystems.com Page 7
Step 5: A welcome screen will be displayed. Click “Continue”.
Step 6: Click on “Set WiFi”
Step 7: Enter your router’s SSID (name) and Password and select the
Encryption type. Then press “Send.”
(Note: If you do not know your SSID (Router Name) and Password, return
to the previous screen and click “Read WiFi”).
Step 8: You should receive the message,
“Success. Set WiFi Successful.”
Click OK

www.SignatureControlSystems.com Page 8
Step 9: Return to your controller and press the SET UP button one more time. Your controller’s
LEDs will begin flashing in what appears to be a random sequence indicating that your controller
is now paired to your router and is attempting to connect to the internet. Once internet
connection has been established, LED1 will remain flashing and LED2 will be solid. This
process normally take 2 to 3 minutes.
CREATING A USER ACCOUNT
Step 1: Go to www.SCS-
Share.com.
Step 2: Click on “Create New
Account.”
Step 3: Fill out the required
information and click “Apply.”
Note: Do not enter any spaces in
the “Captcha” code.
