sure the triangle on the CF to Serial flat
connector is pointing up.

SoftwareInstallation
Windows Driver Installation
Windows98:
The CF to Serial Adapter must be inserted into the
computerbeforebootingupWindows98otherwiseit
willnotbedetectedbythesystem.
1. Insert the CF to Serial Adapter into the CF-to-
PCMCIAadapter(notincluded),theninsertthe
unitintothesystem'sPCMCIAslot. Bootupto
Windows.
2. AttheAddNewHardwareWizard,clickNext.
3. SelectSearchforthebestdriverforyourdevice.
(Recommended) and click Next.
4. Insert the driver CD, check CD-ROM drive,
uncheck the other boxes, then click Next.
5. Click Next, at the Insert Disk box click OK.
Insert your Windows 98 Installation CD, click
OK,thenclickFinishtocompleteinstallation.
Windows98SE:
1. Boot up to Windows. Insert the CF to Serial
Adapter into the CF-to-PCMCIA adapter (not
included),theninserttheunitintothesystem's
PCMCIAslot.

2. AttheAddNewHardwareWizard,clickNext.
3. SelectSearchforthebestdriverforyourdevice.
(Recommended) and click Next.
4. Insert the driver CD, check CD-ROM drive,
uncheck the other boxes, then click Next.
5. Click Next, at the Insert Disk box click OK.
Insert your Windows 98 Installation CD, then
clickOK.
6. ClickFinishtocompletetheinstallation.
WindowsME:
1. Boot up to Windows. Insert the CF to Serial
Adapter into the CF-to-PCMCIA adapter (not
included),theninserttheunitintothesystem's
PCMCIAslot.
2. InsertthedriverCD. AttheAddNewHardware
Wizard, click Automatic Search for a better
driver,thenclickNext.
3. ClickFinish.
4. RestartWindowstocompletethe installation.

Windows 2000:
1. Boot up to Windows. Insert the CF to Serial
Adapter into the CF-to-PCMCIA adapter (not
included),theninserttheunitintothesystem's
PCMCIAslot.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard, click
Next.
3. SelectSearchforasuitabledriverformydevice
(Recommended) and click Next.
4. Insert the driver CD, check CD-ROM drives,
uncheck the other boxes, then click Next.
5. ClickNextandFinish.
6. RestartWindowstocompletethe installation.
WindowsXP/Server2003:
1. Boot up to Windows. Insert the CF to Serial
Adapter into the CF-to-PCMCIA adapter (not
included),theninserttheunitintothesystem's
PCMCIAslot.
2. Insert the driver CD. At the Found New
HardwareWizard,selectInstallthesoftware
automatically (Recommended), then click
Next.

3. Click Continue anyway. Our driver has been
thoroughly tested in Windows for stability and
compatibility.
4. ClickFinish.
5. RestartWindows to completethe installation.
Verify Windows Installation
1. Check Device Manager to verify successful
driverinstallation.
Windows 98/98SE/ME: From the main desktop,
right click MyComputer, then click Properties.
Click Device Manager tab.
Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003: Right click My
Computer, then click Manage. Click Device
Manager.
2. Double click Ports (COM & LPT) option and
Billionton Compact Flash Serial... should be
displayed.
Windows CE /Pocket PC Installation
No driver installation is needed for Windows CE or
Pocket PC operating systems. The driver installs
automaticallywhentheCFtoSerialAdapterisplugged
intothe CFslotofthePocketPC.
