Quick Start Guide

This guide provides simple steps 1) to 8) to let you quickly
start using your new smartSLED
TM
handheld RFID reader.
1. Open Box and Check Contents:

Quick Start Guide
It is important to fully charge the unit before using it the first time. It takes
approximately 4 hours to be fully charged. Please refer to the diagrams for battery
installation. After Inserting the battery into smartSLED
TM
, connect the supplied USB
Type C plug to smartSLED
TM
and connect the Type A plug into any USB charger. The
RED charging LED will light. Charge the unit until the red light goes out.
Battery Insertion
1）To access the battery compartment, remove the battery cover by:

To insert the battery pack into the battery compartment：
First fully rotate to release the metal latches at both sides of the battery cover;
Then slide horizontally out to release the battery cover.

Replace the battery cover. Make sure that the locking tabs at the
front of the battery cover are fully inserted into the slots as shown in
the below diagram.
The metal contacts at the bottom side of the battery must face down to meet the
metal contacts as shown on the below diagram.
Make sure that the locking tabs at the front of the battery are inserted into the
slots as shown in the detailed diagram.

The below image shows the battery in its position. The battery
should be fully secured by the battery spring-loaded clip as shown.
3） Fully rotate to close the metal latches to secure the battery cover in
position.

smartREADER App is available for download fromthe App Store, and

The User’s Manual will show you how to operate the smartSLED
TM
reader.

Press the power button for 3 seconds and then release, the
GREEN power LED will light up, meaning the smartSLEDTM is
powered on and the BLUE LED on the Bluetooth button will
start blinking indicating the unit is ready to Pair with a Host
device. �
The smartREADER App (see Figure 1 above) needs to be
installed on the Host device. Open the SLS smartREADER
App on your host device and press the“Connect”button
on the screen to have your Host device start searching for
the smartSLEDTM for pairing. Once the smartSLEDTM reader
has paired with the host device its name and MAC
address/serial number will appear on the screen. To finish
the pairing process, press on and select the smartSLEDTM
device as shown on the screen.
On the smartREADER App, press the“Inventory”button,
on the next screen, then press the“Start”button.
Make sure there are RFID tags in front of the reader.
You will now see the tag IDs shown on the screen and the
host platform will be generating a beeping sound that is
proportional to the number of tag reads. If you do not hear
the beep, check the host device for muted sound.
You can use the Start/Stop button on the touch screen to
control RFID & Barcode Reading or you can use the Trigger
button on the gun handle to start and stop RFID & Barcode
reading. The trigger is under the application’s control.
Typically, pressing the trigger initiates an RFID or Barcode
scanning process and terminates it upon release.

smartREADER App please refer to the User Manual
mentioned above.

3 seconds and then release, after that the GREEN LED will light
up

The Bluetooth pairing button will automatically start flashing on
power up, indicating the smartSLED
TM
is ready to be discovered.
At this point, use an application to connect the reader to the
host device.
