The EZ Card™ Fast Ethernet PCI Card with Personal Firewall
(SMC1255TX) combines the high performance of a 10/100
Mbps network adapter and the functionality of a full-
featured firewall into one perfect solution. The EZ Card™ PCI
Adapter comes with two free software applications – SMC
Etherguard Personal Firewall and WinEtool Personal Sniffer.
The SMC Etherguard application provides an efficient software
firewall that can filter traffic based on website name, IP
address, and TCP/UDP protocol, while the WinEtool application
monitors your network traffic with a built-in Wake-on-LAN
packet generator and packet analysis tool. These tools monitor
each packet of data as it is sent through your network.
To provide a superior network connection, the EZ Card™ Fast
Ethernet PCI Card supports full-duplex communication, auto-
negotiation, Wake-on-LAN (WOL), flow control, and a 32-bit
data transfer mode. Developed using the latest in bus-master
architecture, this SMC 10/100 Adapter reduces CPU utilization
while optimizing performance and throughput. The EZ Card™
Fast Ethernet PCI Card auto-configures itself on power-up to
provide an easy installation. For network management, this
latest adapter features a "Remote LAN Wakeup" option for
remote management and an optional Boot ROM socket to
enable network booting from a diskless workstations. For
connectivity, this SMC Adapter uses a single RJ-45 connector
for both data rates, making it a simple and cost-effective solution
to help future-proof your network at both the home and office.
