WARNING!
Warns of hazard that MAY cause serious personal injury,
death or major property damage. HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE.
Disconnect all power before servicing equipment.
DO NOT REMOVE COVER WHEN ENERGISED.
CAUTION!
Do not exceed the limit switch performance limitation. Exceeding
the limitation may cause damage to the limit switch, actuator and
valve.
The conduit plug supplied with the switch boxes are for transit
purposes only. IP67 protection depends on cable gland and
cabling methods used. Limit switchbox for quarter-turn valve
device (90° rotation). Maximum shaft angular velocity 250 rpm.
Follow switch adjustment & indicator setting before servicing the
limit switch box.
1 INSTALLATION
1.1 Attach proper mounting bracket (1) to the box (4) housing
using four M 6X8 bolts (2).
1.2 Align shaft (5) to actuator shaft and engage it.
1.3 Attach bracket to actuator using hardware provided (3).
2 SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
2.1 Loose the screws (6) to allow free cover (8) rotation.
2.2 Counter clockwise rotate cover (8) till complete unit
opening and then remove cover (8).
2.3 Follows indication in “Cams setting” page 2.
2.4 Box with 3-4 switches, set the actuator in the extra position
you have to signal and set cams according indication in
“Cams setting” page 2.
2.5 Replace box cover (8) paying attention that body shaft (5)
properly fit in cover shaft. WARNINGS: check seal is
properly fitted in slot.
2.6 Manually turn cover (8) clockwise on body (4) till they are
completely tightened.
Safety instruction to hazardous area
installation
Soldo limit switch boxes models SW (SY) are valve position indication devices (indication of valve
open or close).
Projected and built according to directive ATEX 94/9/CE with reference to standard EN 60079-
0 : 2006; EN 60079-1 : 2007; EN 61241-0 : 2006
EN 61241-1 : 2004.
“ATEX” by the French “ATmosphere Explosive”, provides the technical requirements to be
applied to equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The scope of
directive is to remove technical barriers between Member State of European Community.
The SW (SY) limit switch boxes device must be installed and maintenance according to suitable
standards for electrical application in potentially explosive atmospheres (example: EN 60079-14,
EN60079-17, EN50281-1-2 or other national standards).
Read this first and keep this instruction manual always available.

This instruction refers to Atex certified limit switch boxes covered by the Atex certificate number:
07ATEX 142354X.
1. Limit switch box SW (SY) may be installed in hazardous area with flammable gases,
vapours and mist, group II, category 2G/2D, protection mode Ex d IIC, temperature class
T4 - T5 - T6.
Device category 2GD, identification
II 2G Ex d IIC T6-T4
II 2D Ex tD B21 T110°C/110°C/140°C
It means:
(European community logo for ATEX applications) - group II (potentially
explosive atmospheres – surface application OTHER than mines)
Category 2GD (G => gas; D => Dust) – Zone 1 and 21
Ex d => Protection mode: explosion proof enclosure
IIC => define kind of gases
Temperature Class for hazardous location
due to presence of hazardous gas
Superficial temperature for hazardous
location due to presence of hazardous powder
T6: -55°C ≤T amb. ≤+ 60° C 110°C
T5: -55°C ≤T amb. ≤+ 80° C 110°C
T4: -55°C ≤T amb. ≤+ 105° C 140°C
2. Suitably trained personnel shall carry out installation according with applicable code
practice.
3. Cover must be tightening with a torque of at list 15 Nm.
4. For ambient temperature below -10°C and above 70°C use field wiring suitable for both
minimum and maximum ambient temperature.
5. The user should provide suitable system to limit heating coming from valve; maximum
ambient temperature is 105°C.
6. The electrical devices must be grounded using their grounding connections. The grounding
connection must be Atex certified, suitable for the application required, substances,
maximum superficial temperature and ambient temperature.
7. Grounding connection has been designed to be anti-rotation and it is provided with a
grower washer to be anti-vibration. Suitable cable lug have to be used for this connection.
8. Cleaning the limit switch box must be done with a moist cloth to prevent build up of
electrostatic charges. The user should guarantee periodic cleaning of the places were dust
can storage to avoid the paling up to 50 mm.
9. The user should not repair this equipment.
10. The user should guarantee the keeping of the safety characteristic of the device after
maintenance.
11. If the equipment is likely to come in to contact with aggressive substances, it is
responsibility of the user to take suitable precautions that prevent it from being adversely
affected, thus ensuring that the type of protection is not compromised.
Aggressive substances: example Acids, liquids, gases with can affected metals.
12. ATTENTION: Please refers to the Atex Certificate and belong schedule, here attached, for
special condition for safe use.
NOTE: All cable entry devices and blanking elements shall be certified in the type of explosion
