INSTALLATION GUIDE
INTRODUCTION
This manual presents the basic installation guide for the Aqua-Lab AX/BX Air Valve Conversion
Kit. It is recommended that this manual be read completely before the installation of the kit.
Familiarity can save hours of troubleshooting.
NOTICE: Installation, operation and servicing instructions are for use by qualied
personnel only. The installation must be made in accordance with the local plumbing
and electrical codes.
1.1 SYSTEM FEATURES
• Replaces electric solenoid valves with air valves
• M12 extension cords
• Air panel for 6 airlines (one for each valve and one extra airline for backup, or
other use)
• 6 individual air regulators with large viewing gauge.
1.2 PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
• The Hydra Flex retro t kit for AX and BX systems uses the same electrical signals for
both the motor starter and car wash controller as the preexisting AX/BX set up. This
kit is to be used to replace electric solenoid valves with air actuated valves. The air
panel is used to provide air regulation for air applications.
1.3 SPECIFICATIONS
• This kit is to be used with preexisting Hydra Flex AX or BX systems with 24AC/DC, or
120VAC control voltage.

1.5 INSTALLATION
• There is no substitute for planning prior to beginning the work. Several minutes
of planning can save you hours of work. Follow the detailed steps below for
installation. Wear safety glasses at all times and be sure to relieve all lines of
pressure when plumbing.

AX SYSTEM TO BE
CONVERTED 10 PORTS
STEP 1: Anchor new air panels to wall
STEP 2: Terminate 3/8” outbound airlines onto corresponding position on new air panel. Run
line over to AX or BX unit and leave 12” of extra to be trimmed when line gets terminated.
BX SYSTEM TO BE
CONVERTED 5 PORTS
STEP 3: Terminate 1/4” inbound airlines onto corresponding position on new air panel. Run line
over to AX or BX and leave 12” of extra line to be trimmed when line gets terminated.

STEP 4: Assemble Din cable to the extension cord.
STEP 5: Shut water line to manifold system off
STEP 6: Actuate a function repetitavely until water pressure on gauge is zero or close to.
STEP 7: Unscrew nut on blue solenoid coil and remove exposing valve.
STEP 8: Remove valve from hydra cannon body. A 1 1/8” deep socket is recommend for this.

STEP 9: Install new air actuated valve in open position. Be careful not to over tighten, as
Hydra-Cannon will crack. Recommended to hand tighten and snug up with wrench. Screw in
air inlet poly ow tting. Please note orientation of tting.
STEP 10: Using tubing provided, install push lock T tting into place as shown. This Tee outlet
goes to 1/4” push to connect ttings on new air panel.
STEP 11: Using a box wrench, remove the Pisco air regulator from air manifold.
STEP 12: Using 1/2” box wrench screw in 90 degree elbow (1/4 PTC x 1/8 NPT) tting into opening
as shown.
Insert 1/4” push to
connect x 10/32”
tting to air valve.
Do not over
tighten.

STEP 13: Using tubing provided, run airline from 90 push to connect tting on air manifold to
top of tee on the air valve.
STEP 15: Terminate orange side of cord to the corresponding position on the M12 block. Please
note the positions are engraved next to each position.
STEP 17: Set air pressure for each position as you go. Set primary regulator
air pressure between 80 -100 psi.
STEP 16: Turn relays and water back on.
STEP 14: Attach DIN connectors to the back of the air manifold as shown.
