•Install the player so that the AC

cord can be unplugged
from the wall socket
immediately in the
event of
trouble.
•If the player is brought directly
from acold to awarm location,

moisture may condense

lenses inside the player. Should
this occur, the player may not
operate properly. In this case,
remove the disc and leave the
playerturned
on for about half an
hour until the moisture
evaporates.
•When you
move the player, take
out any discs.
If you don't, the
disc may
be damaged.

If the AC plug of yourunitdoes not
fit into the wall outlet, attach the
supplied AC plug adaptor.
On adjusting volume
Do not tum up the volume while
listening to asection with very low
level inputs
or no audio signals. If
you do, the speakers may be
damaged when apeak level section
is played.
On cleaning
Clean the cabinet, panel, and
controls with asoft cloth slightly
moistened with amild detergent
solution.
Do not use any type of
abrasive pad, scouring powder or
solvent such as alcohol or benzine.
On cleaning discs, disc/lens

To unlock the disc tray

Step 1: Connecting to Your TV
Connect this player to your TV using avideo cord. Select one of the patterns 0through e,
according to the input jack on your TV.
In order to view progressive signal (480p) pictures with acompatible TV, you must use pattern

Otherwise, no sound or aloud noise will come
from your speakers.
•The TVS effects of this player cannot be used
with this connection.
•When you connect the player to an audio
component using an HDMI cord, you will need to
do one of the following:
-Connect the audio component to the TV with the
HDMI cord.
-Connect the player to the TV with avideo cord
other than HDMI cord (component video cord or
audio/video cord).
•When connecting to the HDMI OUT jack,
carefully align the HDMI connectorwith the jack.

Step 3: Connecting the
Power Cord
Plug the player and TV power cords into an
AC outlet.

Remote
Insert two Size AA (R6) batteries by
matching the

When using the remote, point it at the remote

With one touch of the ~ button on the
remote, the playerand yourTV automatically
turn on and the

player. Playback starts automatically.

DISPLAYbuttons on the remote.
Note that these buttons are not effective
when you play audio CD or music files in
"MUSIC" mode.

You can have the player turned off automatically
whenever you leave it in stop mode for more than
30 minutes. To tum this function on or off, set
"AUTO POWER OFF" in "CUSTOM SETUP" to
"ON" or "OFF' (page 35).

To play VIDEO CDs with PRC functions
(PRC Playback) m
PBC (Playback Control) allows you to play
VIDEO CDs interactively using the menu on
your TV screen.
When you start playing aVIDEO CD with
PBC functions, the menu for your selection
appears.
Select an item using the number buttons, and
press ENTER. Then, follow the instructions
in the menu (press
~ when "Press
SELECT" appears).
To return to the menu
Press nRETURN.

To play without using PBC, press ..... I'" or the
number buttons while the player is stopped to select
atrack, then press ~ or ENTER.
"Play without PBC" appears on the TV screen and
the player starts continuous play. You cannot play
