EBS-N100
Setup Guide
Purpose:
This document is a set up instruction guide for the EBS-N100 unit and using it with Display
Commander. Known issues of this pre-release version of Display Commander are included at the end
of the document.

Loading Display Commander Software
The Display Commander software is included in an e-mail attachment. This software extends the
control set of the EBS-N100 from individual unit control to group controls.

1) RS232C Cable
a. Attach the 9-pin RS232C Cable to the port
labeled “COM1” on the EBS-N100
b. Attach the other end to the REMOTE input on
the Sony Monitor
Connecting the EBS-N100 to a Network Router
1) CAT5 Cable
a. Plug the RJ45 connector into the back of the
EBS-N100
b. Plug the other end of the CAT5 cable into a
LAN port on the router
Power Up
1) Plug in the AC Adapter for the EBS-N100
Configuration
The EBS-N100 can be controlled and configured in two ways. The first is using the Display
Commander application to identify and control the EBS-N100 unit. The second is through an
embedded HTML Interface page for configuration and control.
Display Commander
Once power has been applied to the unit, double click on the Display Commander icon in the folder
where the application was extracted to from the Zip file. After a couple of seconds, the attached EBS-

N100 device will appear on the left side of the screen (if the test unit’s IP does not appear, it may be
necessary to click on Rescan to search the network for the device).
By selecting the EBS-N100, you may adjust basic controls from the Display Commander, such as
Power On/Off, Check Status, Select Input, Adjust Volume or change Aspect Ratio of the video. The
Display Commander software will allow you to directly access the HTML Control Page for a desired
EBS-N100 or N200 for additional configuration and control settings.
Group Control Function
With more than one EBS-N100 or EBS-N200 units on
the same network, groups can be created to manage
multiple displays simultaneously. By clicking Group
Control, a sub-window will prompt you for a name for
the group (i.e. – Chicago Office Lobby) . Click OK.
The next window will provide a list of available EBS-
N100 or EBS-N200 units on the left side of the screen,
and by highlighting and adding or deleting these from
the selected units on the right side of the screen, a
group is created for simultaneous control. Once all the
desired units are added to the group, click OK.

HTML Interface Configuration
Once power has been applied to the unit, an IP address must be assigned manually thru the EBS-
N100’s web interface.
All EBS-N100’s are shipped with a Static IP Address of 192.168.0.10. This IP address can be
changed as follow:
•Connect the EBS-N100 to a computer with the same sub-net (192.168.0.XXX)
•Start the computers browser and enter 192.168.0.10
•The EBS-N100’s main web page will appear; select the Configure tab and the following page
will appear
•Set the desired IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway and document below:

•Select Submit and Restart to reboot the unit for the new IP Address to take effect
Configuring the Unit
Before you begin using the EBS-N100, you must enter the display type and model to which it is
connected. The controls available in the user interface (EBS-N100 software) directly correspond to the

display type and model that you select. To enter the display type and model, perform the following
steps:
•In the Device field, select the type of display to which the EBS-N100 is connected.
•In the Model field, select the model of the device.
•In the Location field, enter the location of the EBS-N100, such as a room number or a
conference room. This information is helpful to identify the EBS-N100 unit.
•Click the Submit button. The controls available on the user interface will directly correspond to
the selected display and model
Controlling a Display
Once configured for a particular display device, the EBS-N100 may be used to control display
parameters. An example web page used for display control is shown below. The actual controls
available are dependent upon the particular display model.

This section allows the immediate performance of maintenance or to schedule timed maintenance
functions on a display.

Reduced (approx. 30% less bright)
Picture Inversion
This feature reverses the blacks and
whites to counter-act the affects of
image retention on Plasmas. Using a
static image of text or logos can cause
image retention. By using inversion,
the effects are minimized by reversing
the image. This function can be
scheduled to be performed at night or
after hours when the display is not
viewed.
Orbit
Another method of reducing image retention is to use Orbit, which will move the image in a slight
shifted pattern and therefore minimize the static placement of images.

Configure
This page is used for basic and advanced
configuration options for the EBS-N100.
It is from this page that the connected
product type is selected and user
identified information can be included.
Network settings allow for the IP of the
selected EBS-N100 to be either assigned
an IP by a DHCP server or for a fix IP to
be set by the user.
Under Advanced Settings, an alternative
name can be assigned to the EBS-N100
and password settings for access to
display controls can be set.
