指定された電源コードを使用
する
指定以外の電源コードを使用すると、火
災や感電の原因となります。
AC電源コードやDC電源接続
コードを傷つけない
AC 電源コードや DC 電源接続コードを
傷つけると、火災や感電の原因となりま
す。
•コードを加工したり、傷つけたりしな
い
•重いものをのせたり、引っ張ったりし
ない
•熱器具に近づけたり、加熱したりしな
い
•コードを抜くときは、必ずプラグを
持って抜く
万一、コードが傷んだら、ソニーのサー
ビス担当者または営業担当者に交換をご
依頼ください。
表示された電源電圧で使用す
る
製品の表示と異なる電源電圧で使用する
と、火災や感電の原因となります。
電源コードのプラグおよびコ
ネクターは突き当たるまで差
し込む
真っ直ぐに突き当たるまでさしこまない
と、火災や感電の原因となります。
運転しながら操作しない
運転中に操作すると、交通事故でけがや
死亡の原因となることがあります。
外装を外さない、改造しない
外装を外したり、改造したりすると、感
電の原因となります。
内部の調整や設定および点検を行う必要
がある場合は、必ずサービストレーニン
グを受けた技術者にご依頼ください。
内部に水や異物を入れない
水や異物が入ると火災や感電の原因とな
ることがあります。
万一、水や異物が入ったときは、すぐに
電源を切り、電源コードや接続ケーブル
を抜いて、ソニーのサービス担当者また
は営業担当者にご相談ください。
指定のバッテリーパックを使
用する
オペレーションマニュアルに記されてい
るバッテリーパックまたは AC アダプ
ターでお使いください。指定以外のバッ
テリーパックや AC アダプターで使用す
ると、火災の原因となります。

雨や雪の中で使用しない
雨や雪の中で使用すると、火災や感電の
原因となることがあります。
運搬するときは、取っ手を持
つ
取っ手以外のところを持って運ぶと、製
品が落下してけがの原因となることがあ
ります。
油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりの
多い場所では設置・使用しな
い
上記のような場所で設置・使用すると、
火災や感電の原因となります。
取扱説明書に記されている使用条件以外
の環境での設置・使用は、火災や感電の
原因となります。
水のある場所に設置しない
水が入ったり、ぬれたりすると、火災や
感電の原因となることがあります。
雨天や降雪中、海岸や水辺での使用は特
にご注意ください。
不安定な場所に設置しない
次のような場所に設置すると、倒れたり
落ちたりして、けがの原因となることが
あります。
･ ぐらついた台の上
･ 傾いたところ
･ 振動や衝撃のかかるところ
また、設置・取り付け場所の強度を充分
にお確かめください。
膝に載せて使用しない
膝の上で使用すると、落下してけがの原
因となることがあります。
通気孔をふさがない
通気孔をふさぐと内部に熱がこもり、火
災や故障の原因となることがあります。
風通しをよくするために次の項目をお守
りください。
･ 上面 2cm 以上、左右両側面 2cm 以上、
後面 25cm 以上の空間を確保する。
･ 密閉された狭い場所に押し込めない。
･ 毛足の長い敷物（じゅうたんや布団な
ど）の上に設置しない。
･ 布などで包まない。
･ あお向けや横倒し、逆さまにしない。
高温下では使用しない
高温の場所で本機を使用すると、火災、
発火、発煙の原因となることがありま
す。周囲温度が 40 ℃を超える場所や、
直射日光のあたる場所では使用しないで
ください。
安全アースを接続する
安全アースを接続しないと、感電の原因
となることがあります。
次の方法でアースを接続してください。
・電源コンセントが 3 極の場合
指定の電源コードを使用することで安全
アースが接続されます。
・電源コンセントが 2 極の場合
指定の 3 極→ 2 極変換プラグを使用し、
変換プラグから出ているアース線を建物
に備えられているアース端子に接続して
ください。
安全アースを取り付けることができない
場合は、ソニーのサービス担当者または
営業担当者にご相談ください。

コード類は正しく配置する
電源コードや接続ケーブルは、足に引っ
かけると本機の落下や転倒などによりけ
がの原因となることがあります。
充分注意して接続・配置してください。
2台以上積み上げない
ラックを使用せずに 2 台以上積み上げる
と、機器が落下してけがの原因となるこ
とがあります。
アクセサリーの取り付けを確
実に行う
アクセサリー（バッテリーパック、バッ
テリーアダプターなど）の取り付けかた
を誤ると、本機やアクセサリーが落下し
て、けがの原因となることがあります。
オペレーションマニュアルに記載されて
いる方法に従って、確実に行ってくださ
い。
製品の上に乗らない、重いも
のを載せない
倒れたり、落ちたり、壊れたりして、け
がの原因となることがあります。
ディスク挿入口や前面パネル
の開閉部に手を入れない
ディスク挿入口や前面パネルの開閉部に
手を入れると、けがの原因となることが
あります。
直射日光のあたるところでは
使用しない
本機が発熱し、火災の原因となります。
ファンが止まったままの状態
で使用しない
ファンが付いている製品では、ファンが
止まると、アラームが表示されます。
ファンが止まったまま使用し続けると、
内部に熱がこもり火災の原因となること
があります。ソニーのサービス担当者に
ご連絡ください。
ぬれた手で電源プラグをさわ
らない
ぬれた手で電源プラグを抜き差しする
と、感電の原因となることがあります。
移動時にはコード類をはずす
電源コードや接続ケーブルは、足に引っ
かけると本機の落下などによりけがの原
因となることあります。
移動時には、コード類をはずしてくださ
い。

電池についての安全上のご注意/その他の安全上のご注意 7
ここでは、本機での使用が可能なソニー製リチウムイオン
電池についての注意事項を記載しています。
万一、異常が起きたら
•煙が出たら
1機器の電源スイッチを切るか、バッテリーチャー
ジャーの電源プラグを抜く。
2ソニーのサービス担当者または営業担当者に連絡す
る。
•電池の液が目に入ったら
すぐきれいな水で洗い、ただちに医師の治療を受ける。
•電池の液が皮膚や衣服に付いたら
すぐにきれいな水で洗い流す。
•バッテリー収納部内で液が漏れたら
よくふきとってから、新しい電池を入れる。
警告
•イヤホンやヘッドホンを使用するときは、音量を上げす
ぎないようにご注意ください。
耳を刺激するような大きな音量で長時間続けて聞くと、
聴力に悪い影響を与えることがあります。
•直射日光の下や火気の近くなど、高温のところにバッテ
リーを置かないでください。
注意
•日本国内で使用する電源コードセットは、電気用品安全
法で定める基準を満足した承認品が要求されます。
ソニー推奨の電源コードセットをご使用下さい。
•本機の電源スイッチは、後面に備えられています。
設置の際には、電源スイッチに容易にアクセス出来るよ
うにしてください。
•電源を完全に切り離す場合には、後面の POWER スイッ
チをお切りください。
•指定以外の電池に交換すると、破裂する危険があります。
必ず指定の電池に交換してください。
使用済みの電池は、国または地域の法令に従って処理し
てください。
別売の 3 極 t2 極変換プラグを使うときのご注意
警告
アースの接続は、必ず電源プラグを電源コンセントへ接続
する前に行ってください。
アースの接続を外す場合は、必ず電源プラグを電源コンセ
ントから抜いてから行ってください。
設置上のご注意
•設置時には、通気やサービス性を考慮して設置スペース
を確保してください。
− ファンの排気部や通気孔（左側面および右側面）をふ
さがない。
− 通気のために、セット周辺に空間をあける。
− 作業エリアを確保するため、セット後方は、25cm 以
上の空間をあける。
•机上などの平面に設置する場合は、左側面および右側面
は 2cm 以上の空間をそれぞれ確保してください。ただ
し、セット上部はサービス性を考慮し 40cm 以上の空間
を確保することを推奨します。
•機器を水滴のかかる場所に置かないでください。また水
の入った物、花瓶などを機器の上に置かないでください。
電池についての安全上のご注意
•充電には、ソニーの専用バッテリーチャージャーを使用
する。
•充電のしかたについては、バッテリーチャージャーの取
扱説明書をよくお読みください。
•火の中に投げ入れたり、加熱、半田付け、分解、改造を
しない。
•直射日光の当たるところ、炎天下の車内、ストーブのそ
ばなど高温の場所で、使用・放置・充電をしない。
•ハンマーでたたくなどの強い衝撃を与えたり、踏みつけ
たりしない。
•接点部や 3極と #極をショートさせたり、金属製のもの
と一緒に携帯・保管をしない。
•所定の充電時間を超えても充電が完了しない場合は、充
電をやめる。
•電池使用中や充電、保管時に異臭がしたり、発熱・液漏
れ・変色・変形などがあったときは、すぐに使用や充電
をやめ、火気から遠ざける。
•投げつけない。
•水や海水につけたり、ぬらしたりしない。

（ネットワーク）端子についてのご注意
安全のために、周辺機器を接続する際は、過大電圧を持つ
可能性があるコネクターをこの端子に接続しないでくださ
い。
ネットワークケーブルご使用の際は、輻射ノイズによる誤
動作を防ぐため、シールドタイプのケーブルを使用してく
ださい。
重要
機器の名称と電気定格は、右側面に表示されています。
レーザー機器についてのご注意
ここに規定した以外の手順による制御および調整は、危険
なレーザー放射の被爆をもたらします。

特長
PDW-HD1550（以下、本機）は、プロフェッショナルディ
スクを採用した、フル HD（1920 × 1080）対応のプロ
フェッショナルディスクレコーダーです。
ネットワーク機能などの IT 機能が強化され、ノンリニア
編集システムをはじめとするネットワークプロダクション
システムとの高い親和性によって、効率的なファイルベー
スオペレーションを実現しています。また、ビデオ編集用
／送出用のプレーヤーまたはノンリニア編集用のレコー
ダーとして使用するときは、SDI 入／出力端子を介して、
SDI インターフェースを装備した従来のノンリニア編集機
器、モニター、ビデオ機器などと接続できます。
また、コンパクトで軽量な本体は携帯性に優れ、AC 電源
をはじめ、DC 電源、バッテリー 1) の 3 種類の電源で動作
するため、屋外でも使用できます。
1) バッテリーアダプター BKP-L551 が必要です。
本機の特長
本機の特長は以下のとおりです。
マルチコーデックの採用
MPEGHD422 コーデックの採用
MPEGHD422 コーデックは、ビデオ圧縮方式として
MPEG-2422P@HL に準拠し、1080i（有効走査線 1,080 本イ
ンターレース）での HD4:2:2 デジタルコンポーネントファ
イル記録（記録ビットレート 50Mbps）を可能にしていま
す。また、音声は、24 ビット、48 kHz の非圧縮での PCM
記録方式による高音質での、8 チャンネルオーディオ記録
に対応しています。
MPEG-4AVC/H.264 コーデックの採用 1)
記録方式として、MPEG-4AVC/H.264 コーデックに準拠し
たXAVC
TM フォーマットを採用し、1080i（有効走査線
1,080 本インターレース）での HD4:2:2 デジタルコンポーネ
ントファイル記録（CLASS100）を可能にしています。
また、音声は 24 ビット、48 kHz の非圧縮での PCM 記録
方式による高音質での、8 チャンネルオーディオ記録に対
応しています。
1) 別売の XDBK-106 のインストールが必要です。
プロフェッショナルディスク PFD23 への記録はできません。
記録・再生機能
MPEG/XAVC/SD マルチコーデック対応
本機は、MPEGHD422 コーデックおよび XAVCMPEG-4
AVC/H.264コーデック（CLASS100）に加えて、MPEG
HD420 コーデックにも対応しています。そのため、目的や
記録時間に合わせて、柔軟な HD オペレーションが可能で
す。
また、DVCAM コーデックでのファイル記録、IMX（30/
40/50 Mbps）の記録・再生 1) も可能です。
1) IMX40Mbps は、再生のみの対応です。
マルチフレーム周波数対応
MPEGHD422 の場合、1080/59.94i、50i、29.97P、25P、
23.98P または 720/59.94P、50P のフレーム周波数で記録・
再生が可能です。
XAVC の場合、1080/59.94i、50i、29.97P、25P、23.98P の
フレーム周波数で記録・再生が可能です。
SD アップコンバート機能
SD 記録したプロフェッショナルディスクを再生して HD で
出力することができるため、SD 素材を HD 環境で使用する
ことが可能です。
HD ダウンコンバート機能
本機はダウンコンバート機能を搭載しています。HD 再生
時でも、SD にダウンコンバートすることにより、SDSDI、
コンポジット出力が可能です。編集や送出時に SD 環境で
使用することができます。
HDSDI リモート記録
HDSDI リモート対応のカムコーダー（XDCAMHD422 カ
ムコーダー PDW-700、HDCAMカムコーダー HDW-730、
730S、750、790、F900R）に HDSDI 接続を行うと、カム
コーダーの REC、STOP に合わせて、同時記録を行うこと
ができます。
1080/720 クロスコンバート機能
本機は変換出力に対応しています。1080 で記録したディス
クを再生して 720 で出力、または、720 で記録したディス
クを再生して 1080 で出力することができます。
プロキシ AV データ
プロキシ AV データは MPEG-4 を用いた低解像度データで
す（映像 1.5Mbps、音声各チャンネル 64kbps）。本機で
は、MPEGHD422 での高解像度データ記録時に、プロキシ
AV データを同時に生成して記録します。プロキシ AV
データはデータサイズが小さいため、コンピューターや
ネットワークに高速で転送することが可能で、記録に必要
なストレージ容量を著しく圧縮できます。この特性を生か
し、ノートタイプコンピューターによる編集や、安価で小

規模なサーバーでのコンテンツ管理など、多様なアプリ
ケーションを容易に実現できます。
ジョグ／シャトルダイヤルによる高速サーチ
従来の VTR と同様に、ジョグ／シャトルダイヤルを使用
したクリップ内の特定のシーンを検索することができます。
ジョグ／バリアブルモードでは、最大− 2 倍速から +2 倍
速でのフィールド単位のコマ送りサーチが可能です。シャ
トルモードでは、最大± 20 倍速の高速サーチが可能です。
F.FWD、F.REV は±35 倍速の高速サーチが可能です。
便利な再生／検索機能
従来の XDCAM 製品と同様に、サムネイルサーチ／エッセ
ンスマークサーチ／エクスパンド機能などの検索機能を使
うことができます。
サムネイルサーチ：生成されたクリップの先頭フレームを
各クリップのサムネイルとして使用し、カラー液晶表
示部または、外部モニターにサムネイルの一覧を瞬時
に表示します。この機能により、サムネイルから希望
のクリップを頭出しすることができます。
エッセンスマークサーチ：記録中または記録終了後、任意
のシーンにエッセンスマークを記録することができま
す。カラー液晶表示部または外部モニターにエッセン
スマークの記録されたフレームを一覧表示することが
できます。
エクスパンド機能：サムネイル一覧で選択したクリップ、
または選択したエッセンスマークから次のエッセンス
マークまでを時間で 12 分割し、分割されたそれぞれの
先頭フレームをさらにサムネイルとして一覧表示する
ことができます。この機能によりクリップ内の探した
いシーンをすばやく検索できます。
マルチユースをサポート
AC/DC/ バッテリー1)の 3 電源に対応
AC 電源のない屋外や車、ヘリコプターなどでの使用が可
能です。2)

2) 本機の設置時には、正常に記録・再生が可能か充分に検証を
行ってから本機を使用してください。
XAVC 記録・再生を行う場合は、振動のない安定した状態で本
機を使用してください。
カラー液晶ディスプレイ
16:9 の 4.3 型カラー大型液晶ディスプレイを搭載し、ビデ
オモニターとして使用することができます。また、メ
ニュー設定や本機の状態などの情報を表示することもでき
ます。
スピーカー内蔵
小型スピーカーを内蔵しているため、音声の確認ができま
す。カラー液晶ディスプレイと合わせて、モニターやス
ピーカーのない環境での映像確認、編集を可能にします。
チルト機構式前面パネル
前面パネルがチルト機構式になっており、ラックマウント
やデスクトップなどのロケーションに合わせて、ボタン操
作のしやすい角度に調節が可能です。
ディスク交換時のキャッシュ記録
記録中にディスク交換する際、映像 / 音声データを本機の
内蔵メモリーに継続して記録することができます（ディス
クの状態によって異なりますが、50 秒程度）。また、ディ
スク交換後、内蔵メモリーに記録したデータをディスクに
記録し直すことができます。長時間にわたる記録や回線収
録などの現場で、大事な場面を撮り逃しません。
IT フレンドリー機能
ネットワーク端子を装備
本機はギガビットイーサネット端子を標準で装備しており、
本機をコンピューターやネットワークにネットワーク端子
を使って接続すると、プロフェッショナルディスクに記録
された映像、音声、およびメタデータのファイルリストの
表示や、ファイルの高速転送が可能です。また、FTP コマ
ンドを使用することによって、遠隔地からのファイル転送
もネットワークを経由して簡単に行うことができます。
保守・サービス用に SNMP をサポート
本機は、SNMP 準拠のソニーリモートメンテナンスモニタ
リングソフトウェアに対応しています。このソフトウェア
により、TCP/IP ネットワークを介してハードウェアの状
態をリアルタイムでモニターし、記録することができます。

USB外部ストレージとプロフェッショナル
ディスク間のコピー機能
本機前面に USB3.0 インターフェースを装備しており、こ
のインターフェースに USB マスストレージクラス（3GB
〜 2TB）までのストレージ機器を接続し、外部ストレージ
として扱うことができます。外部ストレージとディスク間
で、クリップやクリップリストのコピーを行うことができ
ます。
また、別売の SxS メモリーカード USB リーダーライター
SBAC-US20 を接続することにより、SxS メモリーカードか
らクリップのコピーを行うことができます。
ソフトウェアのダウンロードについて
本機を PC と接続して使用する際は、必要に応じてデバイ
スドライバーや各種プラグインソフトウェア、アプリケー

Features
The PDW-HD1550 (hereinafter, the “unit”) is a
Professional Disc recorder that supports Full HD (1920 ×
1080) recording on Professional Disc media.
It features enhanced networking and other IT functions,
and is highly compatible with nonlinear editing systems
and network production systems, enabling efficient file-
based operation.
The unit can be used as a player for video editing and
program output, and as a recorder for nonlinear editing.
For these applications, the unit can be connected via its
SDI I/O connectors to earlier nonlinear editors, monitors,
and video equipment with SDI interfaces.
It has a compact, lightweight body for easy portability
outdoors, and can be powered from any of three power
sources: AC, DC, or battery 1) power.

Features of this unit
The principal features of this unit are as follows.
Multiple codecs
MPEG HD422 codec
The MPEG HD422 codec provides video compression
complied with the MPEG-2 422P@HL standard. It enables
HD 4:2:2 (50 Mbps) digital component file recording in
the 1080i (1080 effective scanning lines, interlaced)
format currently in use by many broadcast facilities.
Uncompressed PCM recording of 24-bit 48 kHz audio
enables 8-channel audio recording at high sound quality.
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec 1)
This unit supports the XAVC™ format that complies with
the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec as a recording format and
enables HD 4:2:2 digital component file recording
(CLASS 100) in 1080i (1080 effective scanning lines)
format.
Uncompressed PCM recording of 24-bit 48 kHz audio
enables 8-channel audio recording at high sound quality.

Recording to PFD23 Professional Discs is not supported.
Recording and playback functions
Support for MPEG/XAVC/SD with multiple codecs
In addition to the MPEG HD422 codec and XAVC
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec (CLASS 100), this unit
supports the MPEG HD420 codec, allowing HD operation
across a wide range of recording times and application
objectives.
The unit also supports file recording using the DVCAM
codec, and IMX (30/40/50 Mbps) recording and
playback. 1)

Support for multiple frame frequencies
This unit can record and play MPEG HD422 format video
at frame frequencies of 1080/59.94i, 50i, 29.97P, 25P,
23.98P or 720/59.94P, 50P.
It can record and play XAVC format video at frame
frequencies of 1080/59.94i, 50i, 29.97P, 25P, 23.98P.
SD up-convert function
The unit can output HD signals while playing Professional
Discs recorded as SD, allowing SD material to be utilized
in an HD environment.
HD down-convert function
The unit is provided with a downconvert function. HD
playback signals can be downconverted to SD signals and
then output as SDSDI or composite signals. This allows
you to use SD nonlinear editors and monitors for editing
and program output.
HDSDI remote recording
HDSDI connections can be made to camcorders with
remote HDSDI support (PDW-700 XDCAM HD422
camcorder, HDW-730/730S/750/790/F900R HDCAM
camcorders) to enable recording synchronized to REC and
STOP operations on the camcorder.
1080/720 cross-conversion
This unit supports cross-conversion output. It can output
720 while playing discs recorded as 1080, and output 1080
while playing discs recorded as 720.
Recording of proxy AV data
Proxy AV data is low-resolution data (1.5 Mbps video, 64
kbps per audio channel) recorded using MPEG-4. When
the unit records high-resolution data in MPEG HD422,
proxy AV data is generated and recorded simultaneously.
Because of its small size, proxy AV data can be transferred
over a network at high speed, and significantly reduces the
storage capacity required for recording. Various
applications can readily take advantage of these
characteristics, such as editing on laptop computers or
managing content on inexpensive, small-scale servers.
High-speed searches with the jog and shuttle
dials
The jog and shuttle dials can be used to find scenes inside
clips, in the same way as the jog and shuttle dials on
conventional VTRs.
In jog and variable modes, frame advance search in field
units is supported at up to –2 to +2 times normal speed. In
shuttle mode, you can perform high-speed searches at up
to ±20 times normal speed. High-speed F.FWD and
F.REV searching is possible at ±35 times normal speed.

20 Features
Convenient playback and searching
Like previous products in the XDCAM series, this unit
supports a number of convenient search functions,
including, thumbnail searches, essence marks searches,
and expand searches.
Thumbnail searches: The unit creates thumbnails from
the first frame of each generated clip, and displays
them in thumbnail lists on the color LCD or an
external monitor. You can cue up clips very easily
simply by selecting them from thumbnail lists.
Essence mark searches: Essence marks can be added to
any scene during or after recording. A list of frames
with essence marks can be displayed on the color
LCD or an external monitor.
Expand searches: This function allows you to look inside
the clip selected on a thumbnail screen, or inside the
segment from a selected essence mark to the next
essence mark. The selection range is divided into 12
equal blocks, and the first frames of those blocks are
displayed as thumbnails. By checking the thumbnails,
you can easily find the scene you want.
Usability features
AC, DC, and battery 1) power support
The unit can be used even where AC power is not
available, for example outdoors or in cars or helicopters. 2)

2) When installing the unit, check that the unit can record and play back
normally before use.
When recording/playing XAVC, use the unit under stable conditions with
no vibration.
Color LCD display
The unit is equipped with a 16:9, 4.3-inch color LCD
which allows you to check the contents of the disc and use
the menu system without connecting an external monitor.
Built-in speakers
The unit features built-in speakers, allowing you to
monitor recorded audio. You can check your clips and
editing results using the color LCD and speakers even
when no monitors or separate speakers are available.
Tiltable front panel
The front panel is tiltable for easy rack-mount and desktop
operation. You can adjust the panel to the angle that makes
the buttons easiest to use.
Cache recording for seamless disc exchanges
About 50 seconds (this duration may differ depending on
the state of a disc) of video and audio data can be recorded
to the unit’s internal memory cache during a disc
exchange, and then written back to the newly loaded disc.
This allows seamless recording across extended recording
sessions, including recording of video feeds, with no
important scenes lost while discs are being exchanged.
IT friendly
Equipped with network connector
The unit features a Gigabit Ethernet connector as standard
equipment. Via this connector, you can connect the unit to
computers and networks to enable listing of the video,
audio, and metadata files recorded on the Professional
Disc, and rapid file transfers. Support for FTP commands
makes it easy to carry out network file transfers from
remote locations.
Supports SNMP for maintenance and service
This unit supports Sony’s SNMP-based remote
maintenance and monitoring software. This software
allows you to monitor the status of the hardware via a TCP/
IP network in real time, and to record the results in a status
log.

Copying files between USB external
storage and a Professional Disc
The unit is provided with a USB 3.0 interface on the front
panel, allowing you to connect a USB mass storage class
(3 GB to 2 TB) device and use it as external storage. You
can copy clips and clip lists between this external storage
and a disc.
You can also copy clips from SxS memory cards by
connecting the optional SBAC-US20 SxS Memory Card
USB Reader/Writer.
