Overview
The RM-NS10 remote control unit is intended to place
most of the NSR Series functions at your fingertips. You
can perform the following operations with the RM-
NS10.
Change the display layout “on the fly”
You can change the display layout of the feeds or the
recorded images you are monitoring “on the fly”. You
can select from a 1 ×1 layout (1 monitoring display), 2
×2 layout (4 monitoring displays), 3 ×3 layout (9
monitoring displays), or 4 ×4 layout (16 monitoring
displays).
Select cameras
You can select a camera with the keypad on the remote
control.
Control cameras
You can zoom, pan (with the joystick), tilt (with the
joystick), focus, and modify the brightness level of the
cameras, as well as preset their positions and configure
their active/inactive sequence.
Record, play back, and search images
You can use the remote control to start recording images,
play them back, pause playback, and more. You can also
switch between live feeds and recorded images “on the
fly”, search through recorded images, and export
recorded images to peripheral devices.
Lock operation
If you ever have to leave your seat, you can flip a switch
and lock the operations from the remote control.
System Requirements
The following requirements must be met to use the RM-
NS10 remote control unit.
A Sony NSR Series Network Surveillance Recorder or
computer running software compatible with the remote
control.
Note
For details about how to use the remote control with
compatible software, refer to your Network Surveillance
Recorder or compatible software documentation.
Unpacking
Upon unpacking the RM-NS10 Remote Control Unit,
verify that you find all the following. If any of the items
are missing, consult your dealer.
• Remote control (1)
•Joystick(1)
• Operating Instructions (1; this document)
There may be other documents in the package.
Installing the Joystick
Place the washer on the joystick screw located on the
right side of the remote control unit, and screw in the
supplied joystick over it.
Note
Make sure to attach the joystick firmly. Attaching it too
loosely or too tightly may result in improper
functioning.

Limitation / Connecting the Remote Control 5
Limitation
• You can only perform one operation at a time with the
remote control. (For example, you cannot adjust the
zoom while controlling the pan or tilt at the same
time.)
• The joystick is a precision instrument. Do not use
excessive force on it during operation, as this may
result in damage.
• The RM-NS10 is designed to be used indoors. Avoid
outdoor use.
• Use in areas with excessive smoke, steam, moisture, or
dust may result in damage.
Connecting the Remote
Control
Use the USB cable of the RM-NS10 to connect it to the
NSR or the computer you have selected to use for
monitoring.
The RM-NS10 draws power from the USB connector to
which it is connected. The POWER LED lights orange
when you connect it. Wait until the LED turns green
before using the remote control.
Caution
You cannot connect the RM-NS10 to low power USB
ports (such as on bus-powered hubs).
Notes
• The RM-NS10 draws power from the USB connector
to which it is connected.
• When you connect it, the RM-NS10 is recognized as a
keyboard.

APOWER LED
While the RM-NS10 is charging through the USB
connector to which it is connected, the POWER
LED lights orange. When the RM-NS10 becomes
ready for use, the LED becomes green.
Note
If an error occurs, the power LED blinks orange or
green. To remedy the situation, reconnect the RM-
NS10.
BSHIFT LOCK LED
When the SHIFT LOCK button is pressed, this
LED lights blue (indicating SHIFT LOCK mode).
While it is lit, you can use the functions printed in
blue characters below certain buttons. Pressing the
SHIFT LOCK button again disables SHIFT LOCK
mode, and the LED turns off.
CLED
When the lock switch on the left side of the remote
control is toggled, this LED lights orange. You
cannot perform any operation with the remote
control when it is lit.
DLOG OFF
When the system’s user administration function is
active, this button allows you to log off the system.
When you log on to the system again, you are
prompted to input your password.
LOCK (when SHIFT LOCK is on)
The remote control buttons become inoperative. To
unlock the buttons, refer to the system
documentation.
ESHIFT LOCK
When this button is pressed, the SHIFT LOCK
LED lights blue (indicating SHIFT LOCK mode),
and the functions printed in blue characters below
certain buttons are enabled. Pressing the button
again disables SHIFT LOCK mode.
FSPLIT SCREEN LAYOUT
You can change the display layout of the feeds or
the recorded images you are monitoring “on the
fly”. You can select from a 1 ×1 layout (1
monitoring display), 2 ×2 layout (4 monitoring
displays), 3 ×3 layout (9 monitoring displays), or 4
×4 layout (16 monitoring displays).
When SHIFT LOCK is on, you can select from a 5
x 5 layout (25 monitoring displays), 6 x 6 layout (36
monitoring displays), 7 x 7 layout (49 monitoring
displays), or 8 x 8 layout (64 monitoring displays).
For details on how to do this, see “Changing the
Monitoring Display Layout” on page 7.
GCamera control area
Use the buttons in this area to control cameras. For
details, see “Controlling Cameras” on page 8.
HJoystick
Moving the joystick left and right pans the camera,
while moving the joystick up and down, tilts it. For
details, see “Controlling Cameras” on page 8.
IMIC VOLUME (when SHIFT LOCK is on)
Allows you adjust the volume of the microphones.
Press + to raise the volume and - to lower it.

JSPEAKER VOLUME (when SHIFT LOCK is
on)
Allows you to adjust the volume of your speakers.
Press + to raise the volume and - to lower it.
KMIC
This button allows you to activate and deactivate
the microphone function.
MUTING (when SHIFT LOCK is on)
Press this button to mute the audio output from the
speakers. Pressing the button again allows audio to
be output.
LCamera selection area
Use this area to select a camera to control. For
details, see “Selecting a Camera” on page 8.
MFunction buttons
Use these buttons to use registered functions.
NSearch area
Use this area to search recorded images, play it
back, or record new images. For details, see
“Searching and Playing Back Recorded Images” on
page 9.
ChangingtheMonitoring
Display Layout
Using the MONITOR LAYOUT area, you can change
the layout “on the fly” while you are monitoring live
feeds or playing back recorded images. You can also
sequentially display the images from preset cameras.
Use the buttons as follows to change the monitoring
display layout.
: Press this button to display only one
monitoring display (1 ×1). If you press the
button again, images from the currently
registered cameras appear in order.
When SHIFT LOCK is on, press this button to
display 25 monitoring displays (5 ×5).
: Press this button to display four monitoring
displays (2 ×2). If you press the button again,
images from the currently registered cameras
appear in order.
When SHIFT LOCK is on, press this button to
display 36 monitoring displays (6 ×6).
: Press this button to display nine monitoring
displays (3 ×3). If you press the button again,
images from the currently registered cameras
appear in order.
When SHIFT LOCK is on, press this button to
display 49 monitoring displays (7 ×7).
: Press this button to display 16 monitoring
displays (4 ×4). If you press the button again,
images from the currently registered cameras
appear in order.
When SHIFT LOCK is on, press this button to
display 64 monitoring displays (8 ×8).
: Press this button to use a preset custom layout.
If you press the button again, images from the
currently registered cameras appear in order. If
you press this button when SHIFT LOCK is
on, the image display is expanded to full-
screen. Press the button again to return to the
original display.
: Press this button to activate or deactivate the
currently registered sequence.

Selecting a Camera
Select the camera that you want to control with the
camera selection area.

1 Press .
2 Input the desired camera number with the keypad.
3 Press the ENTER button.
The selected camera is available to control.
Controlling Cameras
Pan, tilt, zoom, or focus the selected camera with the
camera control area.
Note
The camera you can control is selected with the camera
selection area.
Camera control area
You can perform the operations explained below with
the control buttons, and you can pan and tilt the camera
with the joystick.
: Press this button to activate the automatic focus
on the selected camera. If you press this button
when SHIFT LOCK is on, the automatic
brightness level adjustment of the selected
camera is activated.
CAMERA PRESET
: Press this button to return the camera currently
selected to its preset position. If you press this
button when SHIFT LOCK is on, all the
registered cameras return to their base (preset)
positions and start recording.
: Press this button to delete the preset position of
the camera currently selected.
: Press this button to register the current position
of the camera currently selected as the preset
position.

Press this button to make the camera currently
selected zoom in or out. Press T (Tele) to zoom
in and W (Wide) to zoom out.
:
Press this button to adjust the focus of the
camera currently selected. Press + to focus on
far objects and - to focus on close objects.
:
Press this button to adjust the brightness level
of the camera currently selected. Press + to
increase the brightness level and - to decrease
it.
Using the Joystick
Push the joystick in the direction in which you want the
selected camera to face.
•Pan
To pan the camera, push the joystick right or left.
•Tilt
To tilt the camera, push the joystick up and down.
Searching and Playing
Back Recorded Images
Play back or search through recorded images, or record
new images with the search area.
Search area
You can perform the following operations with the
search area buttons.
: Press this button to switch between the image
display modes (live feed or playback of
recorded images) of the camera currently
selected. If you press this button when SHIFT
LOCK is on, you can switch between the
monitoring and configuration screens.
: Press this button to search through recorded
images. If you press this button when SHIFT
LOCK is on, the search menu appears.
: Press this button to display a list of recorded
images.
: Press this button to export recorded images to
recording media such a CD or DVD.
: Press this button to start recording with the
camera currently selected.
:Press this button to stop recording with the
camera currently selected.
:Press these buttons to adjust the playback
speed (forward or reverse).
Press to hasten playback and to
slow it.
:Press this button to return to the previous
recorded images.
:Press this button to play back in reverse. If you
press this button when SHIFT LOCK is on, you
can move back one frame.

:Press this button to pause playback.
:Press this button to play back images. If you press
this button when SHIFT LOCK is on, you can
move forward one frame.
:Press this button to skip to the next recorded
images.
Locking Operation
If you ever have to leave your seat or wish to prevent
other people from using the remote control for any
reason, you can lock its operation.
To lock operation
Slide the switch on the left of the remote control to ON.
To unlock operation
Simply slide the switch to OFF.

Troubleshooting
If you think that the remote control may be
malfunctioning, first read the following. If performing
the solutions listed here does not remedy your problem,
contact your dealer.
The remote control buttons do not appear to
work
• Make sure the remote control USB cable is correctly
connected.
• Make sure the POWER LED is green.
• Make sure the lock switch on the left side of the
remote control is in the OFF position.
• Make sure the remote control buttons were not locked
with the LOCK button.
• Reconnect the remote control USB cable.
The POWER LED blinks
• Reconnect the remote control USB cable.

内部に水や異物を入れない
万一、水や異物が入ったときは、すぐに本機が接続されている電源供給機器の
電源を切り、接続ケーブルを抜いて、お買い上げ店にご相談ください。
分解しない、改造しない
分解や改造をすると、火災やけがの原因となります。
点検および修理は、お買い上げ店にご依頼ください。
USB ケーブルを傷つけない
USB ケーブルを傷つけると、火災や故障の原因となることがあります。次の項
目をお守りください。
･ USB ケーブルを加工したり、傷つけたりしない。
･ 重いものをのせたり、引っ張ったりしない。
･ 熱器具に近づけたり、加熱したりしない。
･ USB ケーブルを抜くときは、必ずプラグを持って抜く。
芯線の露出や断線などで USB ケーブルが傷んだら、お買い上げ店に交換をご
依頼ください。そのまま使用すると、火災の原因となります。
規定外の製品とは接続しない
この取扱説明書に記されている機器（NSR など）でお使いください。規定外の
機器でのご使用は、火災の原因となることがあります。
接続コードの配置に注意する
接続コードが人の歩く場所にはみ出ていると、足をひっかけるなどして、けが
の原因になったり、本機の損傷の原因になったりします。
製品に過度な力を加えない
壊れたり、けがの原因となることがあります。
油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりの多い場所では使用しない
上記のような場所で使用すると、感電の原因となることがあります。
取扱説明書に記されている仕様条件以外の環境での使用は、感電の原因となる
ことがあります。
屋内の安定した場所で使用する
本製品は屋内で使用してください。また、ぐらついた台の上や傾いたところな

機能概要
リモートコントロールユニット RM-NS10 は、監視シス
テムの各種機能を手元で操作するためのリモコンです。
RM-NS10 を使って、以下の制御ができます。
画面（レイアウト）の切り換え
ライブ画像をモニターするときや、記録画像を再生する
ときの画面のレイアウトを 1 × 1（1 面）、2 × 2（4
面）、3 × 3（9 面）、4 × 4（16 面）などに切り換えで
きます。
カメラ選択
10 キーを使って、制御するカメラを選択できます。
カメラ制御
ズーム、パン／チルト、フォーカス、ブライトの制御や、
カメラ位置のプリセット、シーケンス表示のオン／オフ
などが行えます。パン／チルトは、ジョイスティックを
上下左右に動かして操作します。
画像の記録、再生、検索
画像の記録や再生、一時停止、コマ送りなどの操作が手
元で行えます。また、画面の表示（ライブ／再生）モー
ドの切り換えや、記録画像の検索、外部メディアへのエ
クスポートなどができます。
操作のロック
操作中に離席するときなどには、他の人が操作できない
ように、スイッチ 1 つで一時的にキー操作をロックでき
ます。
必要なシステム
本機を操作するために必要なシステムは以下のとおりで
す。
ソニー製ネットワークサーベイランスレコーダー NSR シ
リーズ
または、本機での制御に対応したアプリケーションソフ
トウェアがインストールされているコンピューター
ご注意
本機を使った詳しい操作については、対応システムまた
はアプリケーションソフトウェアの説明書を参照してく
ださい。
箱の中身を確認する
パッケージを開けたら、以下のものが揃っているかお確
かめください。付属品の中に欠けているものがあるとき
は、お買い上げ店にご連絡ください。

上記以外に、説明書や書類などが同梱されている場合が
あります。
ジョイスティックレバー
を取り付ける
本体右のジョイスティック取り付けネジにワッシャーを
はめ込み、その上から同梱のジョイスティックレバーを
回して取り付けます。
ご注意
ジョイスティックレバーはしっかり取り付けてください。
不充分な取り付けや、過度な力での取り付けを行うと、
故障の原因となります。

使用上の制限／接続する
使用上の制限
･ RM-NS10 では、同時に 2 つ以上の操作はできません。
（例えば、ズーム倍率を変えながらパン／チルトを制御
するなど）
･ ジョイスティックは精密な部品ですので、過度な力によ
る操作は行わないでください。故障の原因となります。
･ RM-NS10 は、屋内での使用を前提にした製品です。
屋外での使用は控えてください。
･ 油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりの多い場所での使用は、故障
の原因となります。
接続する
RM-NS10 の USB ケーブルを、サーベイランスレコー
ダーや遠隔操作に使用するコンピューターの USB コネク
ターに接続します。
USB コネクターから通電されると、POWER LED がオ
レンジ色に点灯します。RM-NS10 で操作できる状態に
なると、POWER LED が緑色に点灯します。
ご注意
RM-NS10 は、バスパワード HUB など、電源供給能力
が少ない USB ポートには接続できません。
メモ
･ RM-NS10 の電源は、USB ケーブルで接続している機
器から供給されます。
･ RM-NS10 は、キーボードデバイスとして認識されま
す。

各部の名称
APOWER LED
USB コネクターから通電されるとオレンジ色に点灯
し、操作できる状態になると緑色に変わります。
メモ
何らかのエラーが発生すると、LED がオレンジ色ま
たは緑色に点滅します。その場合は、USB ケーブル
を接続し直してください。
BSHIFT LOCK LED
［SHIFT LOCK］キーを 1 度押すと、青色に点灯し
ます（SHIFT LOCK オン状態）。この LED が点灯し
ているときは、各キーの下の青色文字の機能が有効
になります。
もう一度［SHIFT LOCK］キーを押すと、SHIFT
LOCK が解除され、消灯します。
CLED
左側面にあるキーロックスイッチがオンになってい
るときにオレンジ色に点灯します。この LED が点灯
しているときは、何も操作できません。
DLOG OFF キー
システムのユーザー管理機能が有効な場合、現在操
作中のユーザーをログオフします。再びログオンす
るときに、パスワードの入力を要求するシステムも
あります。
LOCK キー（SHIFT LOCK がオンのとき）
キー操作を禁止します。この状態を解除する方法
（例えば、パスワードを入力して解除するなど）は、
システムの説明書を参照してください。
ESHIFT LOCK キー
このキーを 1 度押すと、SHIFT LOCK LED が青色
に点灯し（SHIFT LOCK オン状態）、各キーの下の
青色文字の機能が有効になります。
もう一度押すと、SHIFT LOCK が解除されます。
F画面（レイアウト）切り換え部
ライブ画像をモニターするときや記録画像を再生す
るときの画面のレイアウトを 1 × 1（1 面）、2 × 2
（4 面）、3 × 3（9 面）、4 × 4（16 面）などに切り
換えるときに使います。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときは、5 × 5（25 面）、6
× 6（36 面）、7 × 7（49 面）、8 × 8（64 面）に
切り換えることができます。
操作方法は、「画面（レイアウト）を切り換える」
（19 ページ）を参照してください。
Gカメラ制御部
カメラの制御をするときに使います。
操作方法は、「カメラを制御する」 （21 ページ）を
参照してください。
Hジョイスティック
上下左右に動かして、カメラをパン／チルトします。

IMIC VOLUME キー（SHIFT LOCK がオンのとき）
マイクのボリュームを調節します。
＋を押すとボリュームの値が大きくなり、－を押す
と小さくなります。
JSPEAKER VOLUME キー（SHIFT LOCK がオンの
とき）
スピーカーのボリュームを調節します。
＋を押すとボリュームの値が大きくなり、－を押す
と小さくなります。
KMIC キー
マイク（音声）機能のオン／オフを切り換えます。
MUTING キー （SHIFT LOCK がオンのとき）
スピーカーから出力される音声を消します。もう一
度押すと、消音が解除されます。

画面（レイアウト）を切り換える
Lカメラ選択部
制御するカメラを選択するときに使います。
操作方法は、「カメラを選択する」 （20 ページ）を
参照してください。
Mファンクションキー
あらかじめ登録されている機能を呼び出すときに使
います。
N検索再生（記録）部
記録画像を検索／再生したり、新たに画像を記録し
たりするときに使います。
操作方法は、「記録画像を検索／再生する」 （22
ページ）を参照してください。
画面（レイアウト）を切
り換える
画面（レイアウト）切り換え部で、ライブ画像をモニ
ターするときや記録画像を再生するときの画面のレイア
ウトを切り換えます。また、選択した画面レイアウトで、
登録されているカメラの画像を順に表示させることもで
きます。
画面（レイアウト）切り換え部
各キーを押すと、以下のように画面レイアウトが切り替
わります。
：1 × 1（1 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えま
す。続けてこのキーを押すと、この画面レイア
ウトで、登録されているカメラの画像が順に表
示されます。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときに押すと、5 × 5
（25 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えます。
：2 × 2（4 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えま
す。続けてこのキーを押すと、この画面レイア
ウトで、登録されているカメラの画像が順に表
示されます。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときに押すと、6 × 6
（36 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えます。
：3 × 3（9 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えま
す。続けてこのキーを押すと、この画面レイア
ウトで、登録されているカメラの画像が順に表
示されます。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときに押すと、7 × 7
（49 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えます。
：4 × 4（16 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えま
す。続けてこのキーを押すと、この画面レイア
ウトで、登録されているカメラの画像が順に表
示されます。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときに押すと、8 × 8
（64 面）の画面レイアウトに切り換えます。
：あらかじめカスタム登録されている画面レイア
ウトに切り換えます。続けてこのキーを押すと、
この画面レイアウトで、登録されているカメラ
の画像が順に表示されます。
SHIFT LOCK がオンのときに押すと、画像が

20 カメラを選択する
全画面で表示されます。もう一度押すと、元の
表示に戻ります。
：現在の画面に定義されているシーケンスの表示
をオン／オフします。
カメラを選択する
カメラ選択部で、パン／チルト、ズーム、フォーカスな
どの制御を行うカメラを選択します。
カメラ選択部
1 を押す。
2 10 キーを使って、カメラ番号を指定する。
3 ［ENTER］キーを押す。
選択したカメラを制御できるようになります。
