TROUBLESHOOTING
Motor Will Not Run
1. Be sure switch is on.
2. Fuse may be blown.
3. Be sure shaft turns freely.
4. Motor starting switch may be defective.
5. Wires at motor may be loose, disconnected, or wired
incorrectly.
6. Motor may be burned out.
7. Pressure switch may be stuck in open position, or
contacts may be dirty.
Motor Runs But Not water Is Delivered
1. Stop motor and reprime pump. It may be necessary
to repeat this operation several times.
2. Leaky suction pipe or air control connections.
3. Foot valve my be stuck or strainer clogged by sub-
mergence in sand or mud.
4. Ejector nozzle may be clogged.
5. Pipe may not be pitched down from pump to well.
6. Water level below foot valve.
Pump Does Not Deliver To Full Capacity
1. Water level in well lower than estimate. Check water
level when pump is operating.
2. Ejector nozzle clogged.
3. Leaky suction pipe or air control connections.
4. Pipes may be corroded or limed causing excessive
friction.
5. Pipe sizes on offset line too small.
6. Foot valve stuck or strainer clogged.
7. Motor not up to normal speed. For low voltage,
check with power company.
Pump Will Not Shut Off
1. Pressure switch may be out of adjustment.
2. Ejector nozzle clogged.
3. Water level in well lower than estimated, making it
impossible for pump to develop sufficient pressure.
4. Leaky pipes.
5. Motor not up to normal speed. For low voltage check
with power company.
Pump Starts and Stops Too Often
1. Pressure tank waterlogged (no air cushion). Check
air control devise for defects. Drain water and allow
to fill with air (Horizontal Tank only).
2. Leak in piping system. Faucets or valves open.
3. Leaky foot valve.
4. Pressure switch out of adjustment.
5. Leak in pressure tank.
Motor Runs Hot and Overload Kicks Out
1. Motor wired incorrectly. Check motor and switch in-
struction cards.
2. Low voltage. Install heavier wiring if necessary.
Check with power company.
3. Poor ventilation. Motors need to be properly ventilat-
ed for cool running.
4. Starting and stopping too often. See Item 5, above.
Pump Is Noisy
1. Set pump on concrete or substantial sub-base.
Wooden bases amplify noise.
Air Spurts From Faucets
1. Airlogged pressure tank (tank too full of air) caused
by defective air volume control (Horizontal Tank
Only).
2. Leak in suction side of pump.
LIMITED WARRANTY
Sta-Rite warrants to the original consumer of the products listed below, that they will be free from defects in material and workmanship for the
Warranty Period from the date of original installation or manufacture as noted.
Product Warranty Period
Water Systems Products – jet pumps,
whichever occurs first:
small centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps 1 year from date of original installation, or
and related accessories 2 years from date of manufacture
Con-Aire®tanks 5 years from date of original installation
Epoxy-Line Tanks 3 years from date of original installation
Environmental Products 1 year from date of original installation, or
2 years from date of manufacture
Our warranty will not apply to any product that has been subject to negligence, misapplication, improper installation or maintenance. In the
event a three phase submersible motor is operated with single phase power through a phase converter, or if three-leg ambient compen-
sated, extra-quick trip overload relays of recommended size are not used, our warranty is void.
Buyer’s only remedy and Sta-Rite’s only duty is to repair or replace defective products (at Sta-Rite’s choice). Buyer agrees to pay all labor
and shipping charges associated with this warranty and to request warranty service through the installing dealer as soon as a problem is
discovered. If warranty service is requested more than 30 days after the Warranty Period has ended, it will not be honored.
STA-RITE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONTINGENT DAMAGES WHATSOEVER.
THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES. IMPLIED WARRANTIES,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PUR-
POSE, SHALL NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD PROVIDED HEREIN.
Certain states do not permit the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages or the placing of limitations on the duration
of an implied warranty, therefore, the limitations or exclusions herein may not apply. This warranty sets forth specific legal rights and oblig-
ations, however, additional rights may exist, which may vary from state to state.
