CHANGINGTHESETTINGS:
MIDIChannelbutton- TheMIDI Channel function isused to selectwhich MIDI channel youwant the CMK-149to
send messages on. You can selectthe MIDI channel number by pressing and holding the MIDI Channel button and
entering the number inthe secondoctave/numeric entry field which corresponds to the channel youdesire.Values
run from l-l6
TheCMK 149willtransmit onthechosenchannel when youletgoofthe button.
Example:If you want to transmit onMIDI Channel 8.holddown theMIDI Channel button, enter the number 8 onthe
numeric entry field and let goofthe MIDI Channel button. TheCMK 149keyboard will now transmit onMIDI
Channel8.
ProgramChangeButton-Theprogram changefunction isused to selectwhich preset sound you want from your
MIDI module. You can select the program change number by pressing and holding theProgram Change button and
entering the number in the second octave/numeric entry field which corresponds to the preset sound youdesire.
When you release the Program Change button,the message will he sent. Values run from 1-128.
TheCMK 149willtransmit the program change when you letgoofthe button.
Example:Ifyou want to play sound No. 56onthe MIDI device, hold down the Program Change button, enter the
number 56onthe numeric entry field and let goofthe Program Change button. The CMK 149willnow play with
sound No. 56.
BankSelectButton- Thebank selectfunction allowsyou to change the patch bank ofyour MIDI module orkey-
hoard. Due todifferent manufacturer approaches to this function,the fonnat for entering this parameter depends on
the model and manufacturer ofyour MIDI module or keyboard. Please refer to the MIDI Implementation Chart found
in the manual ofyour MIDI module or keyboard for information on the format that your unit requires.
1)Ifyour module requires a value sent only oncontrol channel 32. you will simply need to press and hold the Bank
Selectbutton, and enter the hank numberdesired inthe second octave/numeric entry field.When you release the
Bank Selectbutton, the message willbe sent.
2)Ifyour module requires values to he senton-control channel 32and control channel 0.youwillneed topressand
hold the Bank Selectbutton,and first enter the value needed for cc:32in the second octave/numeric entry field. Then,
while continuing to hold the Bank Selectbutton,press the key labeled "-/H" (indicates that what follows isthe "higher
byte") and then enter the valueneeded for cc;0 in the second octave/numeric entry field. Wlien you release the Bank
Select button,the messages will he sent.
The CMK 149will transmit the hank change when you let goofthe button.
NOTE:Together with theBank Selectcommand, the CMK 149also sendsthe last Program,Change number entered.
Thisisbecausenot allMIDI deviceswillswitchthe bank unless theysubsequentlyreceivea Program Change.
TransposeButton- The Transposition functionisused to transpose the output ofthe CMK-149. Thetransposition
range is+/- 24semitones. You can select the transposition amount (upordown) by pressing and holding the
Transpose button and entering the number inthe second octave/numeric entry field which con'esponds to the tran-
spositionamount you desire. Please note that to enter negative (down) transposition amount you must first enter"-",
whichcan befound onthe"Bb"key (-/H)
When you let goofthe button, the CMK-149 will now be transposed by the amount chosen.
Ifyou want to cancel the transpositionand return toa value of0,justpressthe Transposebutton oncewithout ente-
ring any number.
Example:Ifyou want to obtain a transposition ofpitch to 7 semitones higher (a5th). hold down the Transpose but-
ton, enter the number 7 onthe numeric entry field and let gooftheTransposebutton. TheCMK 149willnowplay7
semitones higher. (EX: A played 'C' will sound as a 'G').
MEMORY FUNCTIONS.
TheCMK-149 can store MIDI settings in 100memorylocations for quick recall.
Tostore a setting,hold down both the 1)Bank Selectand 2) MEMO buttons and enter the memory locationnumber
that you wish to store the settings to on the second octave/numeric entry field.
The CMK 149willstore your settings in the memory location when you letgoofthebuttons.
Torecall a setting stored previously, hold down the MEMO button and enter your chosen memory locationnumber.
TheCMK 149willquickly recall the storedsetting when youletgoofthe button.
NOTE:Ifyoubecomeconfusedduring programmingandcannotrememberwhat youhave done.presstheBank Selectbut-
tonandenterthenumber 1 onthe secondoctave/numericentryfieldimmediatelyafterturning on AcCMK 149.Whenyou
letgoofthebutton, the CMK 149will senda ProgramChange commandwith number 1 anda Bank Selectcommandwith
number 1 sothatyoucan hesureoffinding theMIDI deviceina known andcontrollablesetting.
