first beforeoperating
yourtoaster.

On the top of the toasterbesideoneof thetoasting
slots
or compartments
the
words
"ONE SLICE"aremarked.Inside
the
slot
isashaped
piece
of wire
(see
Figure
1) calledtheSwitch
Lever.Whena SLICE
of breadisdroppedintothis
toasting
slotit depressesthe
Switch
Leverandturnsthetoasteron.
After
a
few
seconds
thetoastingrack
gently
lowersthe
toasttothetoasting
position.
Toasting
continues
untilthebreadistoastedto theshadeselected
bytheRadiant
Shade
Control.

gently rises
without noiseuntil a large
portion of
the toastedslice is raised
abovethe
the toasting
slot. The toast can then
beeasily
plucked
out of theslot.

THE
BREADYOU USE
Sunbeam
Toastermatic
Toasteris designedto toast breadto many different shades,
suitingmost tastes.Two slices
of bread
from the sameloaf will cook to perfection.
Different bread types or texturesreactdifferently. Slices
from different loaves
will
not necessarilytoastto the
sameshade.Somesmall
end pieces
of Vienna
-- type bread
may betoo smallto operatethe Switch Leverandtoast
successfully.

isdesignedto giveyou a completecooking
range
for toastingbread.When
first using
your Toastermatic
Toaster
we recommendthat
you selecta position on the Radiant Shade Control betweenlighter and darker
(Figure 2). Toast a slice
of bread. lf the toast is too light for your taste
slide
the
Control Lever
towardsDarker. Removethe toast,then drop it into the slot marked
"ONE SLICE" and
re-cook.
lf necessaryresetthe Radiant
ShadeControl to obtainthe desiredshadeof toast.
lf you seeka lightershadeof toast,
slide
the Radiant
ShadeControl towardsLighter
and test with a fresh
sliceof bread.
You may adiustthe Radiant
ShadeControl while
cookingisin progress.
Ususally
your toaster
doesnot requireattentionto the RadiantShadeControl every-
time
you useit. However,if you changefrom one breadtype to another,
alterationmay
be
necessaryto the Radiant
ShadeControl.
For example,from white breadsto close
textured rye or wheatmealbread
a Darker
settingmay be needed.Breads
with a higher
sugar
content,
suchasraisinloaf need
a
lighter setting becausethey toast faster.
IMPORTANT
Always use the handleson the plastic base when lifting toaster.DO NOT place
fingers
or any other instruments,
such as a knife or spoon into the toastingslots.

When
you are
toasting
oneslice
always
place
thisin theslotmarked "ONE SLICE"
to turn on the toaster.
For breadslicesof unevenheight
or width always
place
the LARGER slice
in the
slot marked "ONE SLlCE". Makesurethe bread
iscentredin theslot.Otherwise
heatfrom the centre
element
will operatethe cut out mechanismbeforethe bread
hastoastedto the desired
shade.
Bread
cut to different
thickness
may
be
toastedat the sametime but they will vary
in shade.Always
place
theTHINNER slicein theslotmarked
"ONE SLlCE".
lfthe bread
slicedoes
not lower,
checkthe powerpoint isswitched
"ON" andthat
the 3-pin plug is correctly and firmly fitted to the power point. Then simply lift
the slice
from the slot marked "ONE SLlCE" and drop it againinto the Switch
Lever.
DO NOT PRESS
OR FORCE
THE CARRIAGE DOWN.
Should you at any time find it necessaryto interrupt the toastingcycle,
simply
switch of the power at the power point. Toast will riseautomatically.
Once the
powet is turned on further slicesof bread can be dropped in immediately for
toasting.
To re-heattoast,
liftthetoastfrom theslot marked
"ONE SL|CE" drop it into the
Switch Lever
andthe toastwill re-heatwithout overtoasting.

TOAST
When
you havefinished
toasting
alwaysturn the
power
off at the powerpoint and
removethe 3-pin
plug
from the power
socket.
CAREANDCLEANING
The hinge crumb tray at the base
of the toaster
allows
you to clean
the toaster
in
moments.
1. IMPORTANT Alwaysturn the poweroff andremovethe
3-pin
plugfrom the
power
socket before starting to clean.
2. NEVERTIPTHE
TOASTERUPSIDEDOWN,
otherwisecrumbsmay
become
caught
in thetoaster
mechanism.Instead,hold
thetoaster
upright
(Figure
3)and
springopenthehinged
crumbtray.
Shake
wellto remove
crumbs.
Wipe
overtheoutside
surfacesof the
toasterwith a soft, dry cloth. lf the
Toaster is
grease
marked
useaslightly
dampened
cloth.
