General information
Instructions for use for SR 562 should be read before use.
The SR 562 together with fan unit SR 500 / SR 500 EX / SR 700 and approved filters are included in the
Sundström fan-assisted respiratory protective device system conforming to EN 12941/EN 12942:1998 class TH3.
Combination of SR 562-SR 500 EX is specially constructed for use in potentially explosive and fire hazardous
environments. See user instructions or label on fan unit for classification.
SR 562 together with compressed air attachment SR 507 conforming to EN 14594:2005 class 3A/3B.
When selecting equipment for SR 562 some of the factors that should be considered are as follows:
• Type of pollutant
• Concentrations
• Work intensity
• Protection requirements in addition to respiratory protective advice.
Risk analysis should be carried by a person who has suitable training and experience in the area.

1. Functional check

1.1 Place the facepiece in the
bag and grip the opening of
the bag so that it seals
around the breathing hose.
Grip the flow meter with the
other hand and hold it so that
it points vertically up from the
bag.
1.2 Read the position of the
ball in the tube. It should float
level with or just above the
marking on the tube.
If the flow rate is below the minimum value, check that
• The flow meter is vertical.
• The float can move freely.
• The air supply is not restricted by kinks or other restrictions in the
hoses.

2. Connect the hose

2.1 Check that the O-ring of
the hose is in place.
2.2 Connect the hose to the
fan unit or compressed air
attachment…
2.3 …and turn it clockwise
about 1/ 8 of a turn.

3.1 Grip the hose mounting
with one hand and the neck
section of the hood with the
other
3.2 Insert your chin into the
hood. Keep your grip of the
hood and draw it over your
head.
3.3 Adjust the hood so that it
seals all the way round your
face and fits closely and
comfortably. The rubber band
in the face seal can be
adjusted to the required
length.

3.4 If necessary adjust the
hood by means of the knob
right at the back of the head
harness. The knob is on the
inside of the hood behind the
hose. You can reach it without
taking off the hood. Turn
clockwise to tighten and
counter clockwise to widen.
3.5 If necessary, adjust the
head harness in height by
lengthening or shortening the
strap for the top of the head.
3.6 Make sure that the
breathing hose runs along
your back and is not twisted.

4. Change the sweatband

4.1 Remove the Velcro tapes.
4.2 Release the face seal
rubber bands secured to the
forehead band next to the
Velcro tapes.
4.3 The sweat band is
secured with Velcro tape to
the forehead band.
Pull the sweat band off.
4.4 Fit the Velcro tape with
the rough side towards the
forehead band and the notch
at the top.

5. Change the Tyvec-hood , harness

5.1 Release the hose from
the adapter.
5.2 Release the face seal
rubber bands secured to the
forehead band next to the
Velcro tapes.
5.3 Remove the Velcro tapes.
5.4 Release the three press
studs at the top edge of the
visor
Lift the head harness out of
the hood.

5. Change the Tyvec-hood , harness

5.5 Place the new hood in
front of you, with the visor
facing downwards.
5.6 Grip the front part of the
head harness with one hand
and insert the head harness
into the hood, first inserting
the rear part fitted with the
hose.
5.7 Secure the hood by
means of the press-studs at
the top edge of the visor.
5.8 Fold the Velcro tapes
around the forehead band
and secure them as firmly as
possible.
