1About This Manual
This manual mainly gives instructions on how to install the oil tray for the MV station.
1.1 Validity
This manual applies to the following products:
• MVS8850-LV
• MVS8960-LV
This manual gives instructions for oil tray installation with MVS8960-LV as an example.
1.2 Target Group
This manual is intended for professional technicians who are responsible for the installation,
operation, and maintenance of product. The professional technician is required to meet the
following requirements:
• Have received professional training related to the installation and commissioning of elec-
trical equipment.
• Be able to quickly respond to hazards or emergencies that occur during installation and
commissioning.
• Be familiar with the relevant standards and specifications of the country/region where the
project is located.
1.3 How to Use This Manual
Please read this manual carefully before using the product and keep it properly at a place
for easy access.
The products and product manuals are always in the process of improvement and upgrade.
If the manual received is slightly inconsistent with the product, it may be a result of a product
version upgrade, and the actual product shall prevail. For any questions, please contact
Sungrow Customer Service.

2Oil Tray Mounting
After the foundation has been built, set the oil tray first before proceeding with the
installation of any other parts and components.
2.1 Safety Precautions
Only install the product when it is complete and intact.
Before installation, ensure that the product and all internal equipment are intact,
without any damage.
Risk of personal injury or device damage due to incorrect operation!
• Follow the procedure of work of heights when walking on the top of the MV
grid-connected inverter.
• All hoisting and transportation must comply with the relevant codes and regula-
tions of the nation/region where the project is located.
• If any tool is used for unpacking, be careful not to damage the product.
• After receiving the product, check whether the appearance and structural parts
of the product are damaged, whether the transformer leaked oil, and whether
the packing list is consistent with the actual ordered product. If there are prob-
lems with the above inspection items, do not install the product and contact
SUNGROW in time.

Improper hoisting may cause personal injury!
• It is strictly prohibited to stand within 5m - 10m outside the operating area (i.e.,
under the boom and the hoisted machine) to avoid casualties.
• Only professional personnel can operate the product, and be sure to wear per-
sonal protective equipment when operating.
• Stop hoisting in the event of severe weather, such as heavy rain, thick fog, or
strong wind.
• Be sure to hoist the product smoothly and evenly to avoid collision and vibra-
tion. Do not turn the product upside down, nor hoist it for a long time.
• When hoisting and moving the product, be aware of its size and weight and
keep the balance to prevent it from turning over or falling.
2.2 Overall Structure of Oil Tray
The appearance and dimensions of the oil tray are illustrated in the figure below. It has a
weight of approximately 400 kg.

2.3 Install Handles
Before slinging the oil tray, attach the four handles first.
Install the handles on the oil tray through the mounting holes provided on its body. Locations
of the mounting holes for handles are shown in the figure below.
2.4 Hoist and Position the Oil Tray
2.4.1 Preparation Before Hoisting
Professional cranes must be used and must be operated by qualified personnel.
Otherwise, personal injury or product damage may occur!
• Improper hoisting may cause personal injury!
• It is strictly prohibited to stand within 5m - 10m outside the operating area (i.e.,
under the boom and the hoisted machine) to avoid casualties.
• Professional cranes must be used and must be operated by professional
personnel.
• Stop hoisting in the event of severe weather, such as heavy rain, thick fog, or
strong wind.
• Ensure safe and reliable connections of all slings.
• The outdoor cabinet should be placed on a solid and flat site with good drain-
age and no obstacles or protrusions.

2.4.2 During Hoisting
Make sure the product is hoisted steadily and smoothly, without collision or vibra-
tion. Do not turn the product upside down, nor keep it lifted up for a long time. Oth-
erwise, personal injury or product damage may occur!
• Ensure that the product is held steady and does not tilt during the whole hoist-
ing process.
• The product should be lifted up vertically. Never drag the product along the
ground or the top of the product placed under it. Do not pull or push the product
on any surface.
• Suspend hoisting when the product is lifted 300 mm off the supporting surface,
and inspect the connection between slings and the product. Proceed with
hoisting only if the connection is confirmed to be secure.
• When the product is moved to the target position, lay it down gently and stead-
ily. Do not attempt to throw the product; make sure it lands vertically.
• Avoid scratching the product during hoisting.
The oil tray weighs approximately 400 kg. During hoisting, make sure the crane hooks are
all firmly attached to the four lifting points on the oil tray. The lifting points provided on the oil
tray are shown as follows.
The actual weight of the oil tray may differ.
2.4.3 Position the Oil Tray
Put the oil tray in the pit that has been set on the foundation. Refer to the figure below for the
position of the pit.

To ensure sufficient space for LV wiring, the distance between the LV cable inlet
area and the oil tray should not be shorter than 300 mm.
2.5 Connect the Grounding Cable
The oil tray should be grounded externally for safety concerns.
The grounding point provided on the oil tray is shown in the figure below. Please ground the
oil tray in compliance with applicable local regulations. The size of the hole for grounding ca-
ble connection is M10.
2.6 Install the Oil-water Separator (Optional)
If the product is equipped with an oil-water separator (optional), install it by following the
steps below. The device is used to separate oil and water in the oil tray and then discharge
the water.
The structure of the oil-water separator is shown below. These parts are basically as-
sembled together in the order presented in the picture.

Steps for oil-water separator installation are listed as follows:
Step 1 Insert the thicker end of the joint (with an outer diameter of 48 mm) into the oil-water separa-
tor mounting hole on the oil tray, and fasten it with the nut.
Step 2 Fix the ball valve to the other side of the joint (G1 1/2 screw thread).
Step 3 Fix the elbow to the ball valve.
Step 4 Fix the oil-water separator to the elbow.

• To ensure the device is well-sealed, install the appropriate washer first before
fastening the joint with the nut or attaching the ball valve to the joint.
• To prevent water leakage, please wrap seal tape around the connection points
on the joint and the elbow, etc.
Refer to the picture below for an oil-water separator that has been installed on the oil tray.

The side of the oil tray where the oil-water separator is installed should face the
RMU.
2.7 Earth Filling
After the oil-water separator has been installed, complete electrical wiring for the MV station
in compliance with the relevant wiring instructions. After completing the electrical wiring, fill
the space under and around the oil tray with earth. Oil tray mounting is then completed.
