Treatment Tips
1. If the nebulizer does produce a heavy aerosol, tap the sides of
the medication chamber to ensure the green cone is seated
properly. Ensure that the medication cup is screwed on tightly
to the reservoir tower.
2. If the nebulizer does not produce a heavy aerosol, try
cleaning the nebulizer. Residue from your medication can
build up inside the nebulizer and aect the performance is
not routinely cleaned.
3. Keep your lips sealed around mouthpiece during inspiration
and exhalation.
4. Ensure nebulizer is in a position upright or greater than a 45
degree angle.
5. After each treatment, shake out any residual medication and
store in clean place.
6. Replace your nebulizer at least once every 6 months or
sooner if it stops functioning properly.
7. To add prescribed medication, do not unscrew medication
chamber. Remove the inspiratory valve and instill medication
through the top (D).
• Maximum medication volume is 5 mL.
• Do not instill medication through the side elbow because
medication can be caught in the drool catcher.
• Replace inspiratory valve after adding medication (E).
8. To start treatment, turn on the air compressor switch.
Or, attach to gas source and set ometer 4 LPM to 8 LPM.
Check for aerosol mist coming from mouthpiece.
9. Sit upright. Close your lips around the mouthpiece. Slowly
inhale and exhale.
10. Continue treatment until medication is gone or the nebulizer
starts to sputter. 3.0 mL of medication will nebulize in about
5-7 minutes.
11. Turn o gas sources. Shake out excess uid that may be in
the nebulizer cup.

To Use the Nebulizer with a Mask
1. Remove the mouthpiece and place in respiratory
equipment bag, in case you need it later.
2. Remove the inspiratory valve and place on the side elbow
port. (A) . To ensure a proper t, push and turn the valve
into the side port.
3. Keep the nebulizer upright. Add the prescribed medication
through top of the reservoir tower (B).
4. Insert mask connector into the top of the reservoir tower
(C). If not using a Salter Labs aerosol mask, use the universal
mask.
5. To start treatment, turn on the air compressor switch.
Or, attach to gas source and set owmeter 5 LPM to 8 LPM.
Check for aerosol mist in mask.
6. Apply the mask to your face.

If the patient is unable to sit upright or is in a semi-fowlers
position, attach the mask to the nebulizer’s side port.

Suggested Cleaning Instructions
for Home Use
The NebuTech Nebulizer is for single-patient use

To Clean the Nebulizer
Follow cleaning instructions after each treatment or
at least once a day.
1. Disassemble all nebulizer components; do not
remove any of the one-way valves.
2. Clean the nebulizer in warm soapy water
(excluding the supply tubing) after each use.
Warm soapy water is dened as a solution of ½
teaspoon of mild liquid detergent for every 1
gallon of water at 35°C (+/- 10°C). Non-scented,
non-lotion, liquid detergent equivalent to Ivory.

water solution for approximately 60 seconds,
agitating gently.
4. Rinse the devices with similar temperature tap
water.
5. Replace the nebulizer every 6-months, or after
540 cleaning cycles, whichever is rst.
WARNINGS/CAUTIONS

adequate delivery of medication.
3. Intended for single patient, multiple uses.
Do not use on more than one patient.
4. To avoid risk of infection and contamination
follow instruction for use for cleaning
and maintenance of the nebulizer.
5. If the jet is clogged the nebulizer will not produce
adequate mist. This will impact eectiveness of
the treatment. If the nebulizer becomes clogged
and is not functioning properly, replace nebulizer
to ensure adequate medication delivery.
6. Device contains components that may present
choking hazard.
7. If using oxygen, do not use near ame or heat
source.

Always use close supervision when administrating
a treatment to a child. Do not leave a child
unattended during treatment.
9. To reduce the risk of misconnections and patient
injury, always trace tubing from gas source to the
medical device before connecting.
