WARNING
Yourpumphas thermalover-load protectionbuilt in. It is not recommended forpumping
liquids over120°F. The thermaloverloadprotectorwillautomatically shut downthepumpin
an overheat situation. It will thenresetitselfoncethepumpcoolsdown. Thisoverload is
designed as asafety deviceandit will fail afterrepeated use.Normaloperationis forfluids
between 32°F &120°F.
DONOT RUN THEPUMPDRY. The pumpdepends onwaterforcooling andlubrication.
Operatingthe pumpwithoutwatermay causethemotortooverheat orcausedamage toparts
of thepump. It mayalsoshorten the lifeofyourpump.
NOTICE
EXTENSION CORDS
Forbest performance,itisrecommendedtoconnect the powercorddirectlytothegrounded
GFCI outlet. If the useofanextension cordisnecessary, always useagroundedwaterproof
type cord. Neveruselongerthana25-ft. cordthat is lighterthan14/3gauge.

connectionscan causeelectricalshock resulting inpersonalinjury.
USE AND INSTALLATION

YourSuperiorPumpis designedand built togiveyou reliableperformanceand longlife. It will
pumpwaterautomatically foryears whenproperly installed intherightenvironment.
REMOVINGOLD PUMP. (Ifnecessary)
1. Makesurepowersupply isdisconnected.
2. Afterthepowerisoff, removetheoldpump.Therearemanydifferentpossible
typesof installations.
3. It is best toremoveall oldpiping andstartoverwithnewpiping. Besuretoclean all
debris and dirt out ofthesumpbasinbeforeinstalling yournewpump.
Be suretohaveagrounded 120VACoutlet mountedwithin6ft. of yoursumpbasin. Again, it
is highly recommendedthataGFCI (groundfault circuitinterrupter) outlet beinstalled inthe
receptaclebox.
NOTICE Aqualified electrician must perform all wiring.

INSTALLATION(New Pump)
1. Set yournew pumpinthe bottomof thesumpbasinoff toone side. The pumpshouldbe
placedonasolidfoundation.Donotplacethepumpdirectlyonthe groundorsandyor
rocky surfaces.Sandandsmall stones mayclog orcausedamage toyourpump.
2. Makesurethe floatswitchwill swing freelyfromthe bottomtotopwithoutcoming in
contactwiththesideofthesumpbasin.Contact withthesideofthesumpbasinmay
causetheswitchtomalfunction. Seefigurebelow.
3. It ishighlyrecommendedtoinstall afull flow, swingtypecheckvalve(notincluded)
asclosetothe discharge outletonthe pumpaspossible.Anewcheck valvewill
greatlyincreasethe lifeofyourpump.Thecheck valveshouldbethesamesizeas
the pumpdischarge.
4. Connectthepumpandcheck valvetogetherusing schedule40PVCpipe and
fittings. You canalsouseDWVorABS pipe,asthisisnotapressureinstallation.
Corrugateddrainhoseisintended fortemporaryuseand shouldnotbe used ina
permanentinstallation.Althoughtherearemanytypesofpipethatworkadequately
forthis installation, PVC is recommended.
5. Test yourinstallation afteryou havecompleted settingup the pump.Plugthe cord
fromthepumpintothe piggyback plugofthefloatswitch,thenplugthatintoyour
grounded outlet. The pumpshouldnotrun atthispoint. If the pumpruns, the
switchisstuck intheuprightpositionorthe pumpispluggeddirectlyintotheoutlet
andnotthroughthepiggyback switchplug.Fill the sumpbasinwithwaterusing
buckets orahose.When theswitchfloats tothe uprightposition,the pumpwill turn
on.The switchwill turnoff the pumpwhen itreachesthe downposition.Youmay
adjusttheswitchtomeetyourparticularneeds. Remembertheswitchmustswing
freelywithouttouching thesidesofthesumpbasin.NOTE:The cutout(turnoff)
settingis theonlyadjustment availableon verticaltypeswitches.
