INSTALLATION(New Pump)
1. Set yournew pumpinthe bottomof thesumpbasinoff toone side. The pumpshouldbe
placedonasolidfoundation.Donotplacethepumpdirectlyonthe groundorsandyor
rocky surfaces.Sandandsmall stones mayclog orcausedamage toyourpump.
2. Makesurethe floatswitchwill swing freelyfromthe bottomtotopwithoutcoming in
contactwiththesideofthesumpbasin.Contact withthesideofthesumpbasinmay
causetheswitchtomalfunction. Seefigurebelow.
3. It ishighlyrecommendedtoinstall afull flow, swingtypecheckvalve(notincluded)
asclosetothe discharge outletonthe pumpaspossible.Anewcheck valvewill
greatlyincreasethe lifeofyourpump.Thecheck valveshouldbethesamesizeas
the pumpdischarge.
4. Connectthepumpandcheck valvetogetherusing schedule40PVCpipe and
fittings. You canalsouseDWVorABS pipe,asthisisnotapressureinstallation.
Corrugateddrainhoseisintended fortemporaryuseand shouldnotbe used ina
permanentinstallation.Althoughtherearemanytypesofpipethatworkadequately
forthis installation, PVC is recommended.
5. Test yourinstallation afteryou havecompleted settingup the pump.Plugthe cord
fromthepumpintothe piggyback plugofthefloatswitch,thenplugthatintoyour
grounded outlet. The pumpshouldnotrun atthispoint. If the pumpruns, the
switchisstuck intheuprightpositionorthe pumpispluggeddirectlyintotheoutlet
andnotthroughthepiggyback switchplug.Fill the sumpbasinwithwaterusing
buckets orahose.When theswitchfloats tothe uprightposition,the pumpwill turn
on.The switchwill turnoff the pumpwhen itreachesthe downposition.Youmay
adjusttheswitchtomeetyourparticularneeds. Remembertheswitchmustswing
freelywithouttouching thesidesofthesumpbasin.NOTE:The cutout(turnoff)
settingis theonlyadjustment availableon verticaltypeswitches.
