MEAT
One of the recipes has a meat option (chicken). We do not recommend cooking raw
meats in the soup maker because the process time is only 25 minutes. Whilst this

enough time to cook certain types of meat. Any recipe that requires meat will need to

LET’S MAKE SOUP!
Thisisarecipeformushroomsoup.Itisreallyimportantthatyourrstexperiencewith
the soup maker is a good one and this is the easiest recipe. Even if mushroom soup

All recipes serve 2 as a main course or 4 as a starter
MUSHROOM SOUP (with Chicken option)
ingredients:
500ml water
1 x chicken stock cube
200gmushrooms(nelychopped)
100gonion(nelychopped)
1 tsp thyme
1⁄4tspblackpepper
1 tbsp olive oil
single cream
additional ingredients for chicken option:
100g chicken (You can use raw but pre-cooked chicken breast or left-overs are easier)
Butter for frying the chicken
Method: Remove the lid from the blender jug and make sure the screen is in place.
Add 500ml of water to the jug (up to the MIN mark).
Finely chop the mushrooms (a food processor or mini chopper is ideal for this). Re-
move 50g of the chopped mushrooms and sprinkle them into the jug OUTSIDE the
screen. Don’t put any more than 50g outside the screen as this could interfere with the
heating function.
Place the lid onto the jug and lock into place – observing the arrows on the lid. Remove
the CUP from the lid.
Finley chop about 100g of onion and put it into the jug via the hole so it goes inside the
screen. They should come about 1/3 of the way up the screen. Break up the stock cube
and add to the inside of the screen. Add the dried thyme and black pepper. Fill the
remaining space in the screen with the chopped mushrooms (you might have a little left
overdependinghownelytheyarechopped).Add1bspofoliveoilonthetop.
Replace the CUP in the lid. NOTE: avoid compressing the ingredients in the screen or
they may become lodged there.
We’re ready to go! Plug the soup maker in and press the ON button followed by the
SOUP button. While you are waiting eagerly for your soup (it’ll be 25 mins) – read on...
Things to look out for
Sincethismaybeyourrsttimeusinganapplianceofthistype,youmightbecurious
as to what’s going on once the SOUP button has been pressed. The Soup Maker will
heat the liquid outside the screen and blend the contents inside the screen at various
times.Astheingredientsbecomepulverisedbytheblendertheywilllterintotheliquid
outside the screen. The 50g of chopped mushrooms you added outside the screen will
remain in tact – adding some nice texture to the soup.
In most cases all the ingredients inside the screen will work their way down to the
blender blades as they become pulverised. On some occasions though, you may need
to give them a little nudge. That’s what the food pusher accessory is for.
If you tried to remove the lid during the soup making process, the machine would stop
and reset the programme. This is to prevent the user from being injured by hot liquids.
However, you CAN remove the CUP in the lid at any time. The food pusher accessory
can be placed into the hole to dislodge any ingredients. The food pusher is designed
so it wont reach the blender blades – which is a good thing! NEVER use anything other
than the food pusher accessory for this!
The Chicken Option (great name for a movie?)
We can’t recommend cooking meat in the Soup Maker but since it does 90% of the
work of making soup, it’s no real bother to add the Chicken Option as it also applies to
other meats.
Add some butter to a non stick saucepan and fry 100g of chicken cut into very small
piecesuntilcooked.WhentheSoupMakerhasnishedmakingthemushroomsoup,
unplug it from the mains and pour the contents of the jug over the chicken in the sauce-
pan. Stir in 50-100ml of single cream according to taste. Allow to simmer gently for 5
minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve immediately.
