SWIMMING POOL PUMP
INSTALLATION & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Read and follow all instructions in this manual and on the equipment. Failure to follow instructions can cause
serious injury or death.
WARNING: Electrical Hazard. Failure to follow Instructions can result in serious injury.
WARNING: Appropriately qualified and licensed personnel should install the pump and carry out the electrical connections.
WARNING: All electrical connections must be done by a qualified electrician according to local electrical standards.
WARNING: Pump should be wired to the main supply through an approved and correctly rated contactor and GFCI.
WARNING: Children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience should not handle
and operate the pump. Fingers and foreign objects should be kept away from the openings and moving parts.
WARNING: Motor must be suitably grounded.
WARNING: The motor must be connected with other bonded parts using appropriately sized conductor using the bonding lug.
WARNING: Power supply voltage required by motor should correspond to that of the network and correctly sized cables
should be used to connect the pump motor.
WARNING: Disconnect the pump from the main power supply completely before servicing.
WARNING: Ensure that the appropriate precautions have been taken to prevent suction entrapment. A minimum of two
correctly sized suction points are required for each pump.
WARNING: Never run the pump dry! Running the pump dry damages the seals and bearings and can cause leakage and
flooding.
WARNING: Do not try to open the lid or service the pump while it is in operation.
WARNING: Do not use petroleum based lubrication for the plastic and rubber components as they will damage the
components and lead to failure.
WARRANTY
To the original purchasers of this equipment, this product is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship.
The product is warrantied for a period of ONE year from the date of purchase. Seals, baskets and o-rings are warranted for
defects in material and workmanship for a period of 30 days.
Improper installation, use, care, negligence and any damage or defect as a result of freezing, flood, fire, accident, lighting shall
not be covered by the warranty.
The defective product must be returned to the authorized dealer. The cost of returning the product to the dealer and any

INSTALLATION
Install the pump at the right distance from the base to minimize the distance between the suction point and pump.
Install the pump in a ventilated and dry place. The motor requires air to flow freely around it.
Install the pump so that the external disconnect switch is easily visible and accessible and located close to the pump.
Install a proper ground connection
Fit a 30mA GFCI in the circuit.
Ensure that the power supply voltage matches the voltage on the motor.
Replace all covers before operation.
OPERATION
If the pump is in a flooded suction installation the pump will prime itself when the suction and discharge valves are open.
If the pump is installed above the water level the pump needs to be properly primed prior to start up.
Open the strainer cover and fill strainer housing with water to suction pipe level.
Check the gasket on the cover and replace the strainer cover and secure.
Open all suction and discharge valves as well as air bleed on filter.
Turn on power and allow a reasonable time for priming.
If pump does not start see Troubleshooting Guide.
MAINTENANCE
Clean the strainer basket regularly. Inspect the strainer cover and strainer basket for any damage. Replace as necessary.
The pumps have self-lubricating motor bearings and shaft seals. No lubrication is necessary.
Keep motor clean. Insure air vents are free from obstruction.
Depending on the operating conditions the seals will need replacement as they wear over time.
Please contact your local agent or dealer for any repair, maintenance and spare parts. Provide the pump and motor details.
TROUBLESHOOTING
A. Motor won’t start
1. Check for improper or loose connections, open switches, relays, blown circuit breakers or fuses.
2. Manually check rotation of motor shaft for free movement and lack of obstruction
B. Motor cuts out –Check for
1. Wiring, loose connections etc.
2. Low voltage at motor ( undersized wiring or improper incoming voltage )
3. Binding and overload.
NOTE: The pump motor is equipped with an automatic thermal overload protection. The motor will automatically shut-off
before heat damage due to an improper operating condition can occur. The motor will start automatically when safe heat level is
reached.
C. Motor hums but does not start
Check the capacitor
D. Pump won’t prime
1. Make sure strainer is filled with water and cover gasket is clean and in place.
2. Make sure that there are no leaks into the suction through loose bolts, connections, o-rings etc.
3. The suction and discharge valves must be open.
4. Block off suction as close to the pump as possible and determine if pump will develop a vacuum.
If vacuum does not develop
Tighten all bolts and fittings on suction side
Check voltage to make sure pump is up to speed
Open pump and check for clogging or obstruction.
Get the shaft seal replaced.
If vacuum develops, check for blocked suction line or strainer, or air leak in suction piping.
E. Low Flow
1. Clogged or restricted strainer or suction line; undersized pool piping.
2. Plugged or restricted discharge line of filter.
3. Air leak in suction ( bubbles issuing from return fitting )
4. Pump operating under speed.
5. Plugged or restricted impeller.
F. Noisy Pump
1. Air leak in suction causing rumbling in pump.
2. Cavitation due to restricted or undersized suction line and unrestricted discharge lines. Correct suction condition if
practical.
3. Vibration due to improper mounting.
4. Foreign matter in pump housing.
5. Bad motor bearings.
NOTE: Only qualified, licensed personnel should install the pump and connect the wiring. Consult your local authorized dealer or
service center if the suggestions in the troubleshooting section do not solve a problem you encounter.
