1.1 The manual is a part of the product
In this manual, the user of the phone learns, how to use the phone and
how to program functions without PIN protection.
This manual is a part of the product. Keep it for the period of product life.
If you pass over the product to others, please hand over the manual too.

mation and instructions.

2 Safety information
Intended use
The phone is connected by an installer. Do not change the installation,
otherwise the phone no longer works.
Shock hazard
DANGER
Never try to unscrew the screws and open the device.
You could get in contact with current-carrying parts.
Never touch the connector contacts with pointed or
metallic objects.
Never change the installation.
Do not make telephone calls during a thunderstorm.
There is risk of electric shock when a lightning strike into
the net.
If the phone housing or connecting cables are damaged,
do not make calls and do not touch neither phone nor
cable. Inform the installer of the phone on another way.
Installation location
CAUTION
The telephone was produced for standard use conditions.
Please do not install the device
close to heat sources (air-conditioning, heater, exposure
to direct sunlight),
in humid rooms (no exposure to splashing water or che-
micals),
nearbydevicesemittingstrongmagneticelds(electrical
appliances,uorescenttubes,computers,TVsets),
in dusty rooms,
in rooms where the device is exposed to vibrations or
extreme variations in temperature.
The phone do not be exposed to ambient temperature
below 0°C or greater than 40°C.
If you do not observe this, the device may be damaged.

Safety information
Some furniture lacquers or furniture cleaning products may
attack the rubber at the feet of the telephone and thus
cause patches. In such cases, please use a nonslip pad
under the device.
The power supply unit must be freely accessible, so that in
a hazardous situation (defect on the phone or on the power
supply unit) it can be separated directly from the mains.
Operating the phone
CAUTION
Never carry the telephone at the handset or the connec-
tion cables. The plugs and sockets could be damaged.
No liquid may get into the device, because this can da-
mage the device.
Alerting/emergency call
DANGER
In rare cases, the function of sending out an emergency
call to the call system or to a freely programmable
destination cannot be guaranteed. This might be the case
if e. g. the telephone network fails or if the radio transmis-
sion from the transmitter to the telephone is subject to
interference.
Emergency radio pendant
Variant „L-Phone II-f “ only.
Use only approved pendants/transmitters.
The pendant is protected against water jets. A longer
immersion in water can damage the transmitter.
Interferences may occur if electrical appliances such as
vacuumcleanersetc.withinsucientordefectiveradio
interference suppression are operated nearby.
CAUTION
If the radio pendant is worn around the neck by means of
the cord, please consider the following:
The radio pendant should only be worn in front of the
upper part of the body and above the clothing. It then can
easily be accessed at any time.

Safety information
The cord has been developed and designed to break
when exposed to extra ordinary high mechanical load.
Despite of this, a risk of injury cannot be completely ex-
cluded. It is recommended to wear the radio pendant
around the wrist when helping laid up persons.
Only use an original cord to replace a faulty one. Do not
try to repair the cord on your own (e. g. by making a
knot).
Radio pendant and cord should be kept out of reach of
small children.
Cleaning the phone
CAUTION
Avoid drop formation. No liquid may get into the device,
because this can damage the device.

3.1 Operating elements
Youcanndtheoverviewoftheoperatingelementsintheinsidefront
cover.
3.1.1 Keys and their functions
The4displaykeysbelowthedisplayhavedierentfunc-
tions depending on the guiding text. Functions in the idle
state display from left to right: loudspeaker key, quick
access to the menu, the call list and the phonebook.
Red emergency call key.
7 speed dialling keys for direct dialling of a stored tel-
ephone number. The keys can also be used for other
functions.
3.1.2 Symbols in the display
Press display key to activate hands-free/listen-in.
Press display key to deactivate hands-free/listen-in.
Headset operation is activated.

Fault message: The battery pack of the phone is not in-
serted or nearly discharged and should be replaced.
Fault message: The battery of the radio pendant is nearly
discharged and should be replaced.

3.2.2 Support for hearing aid users
Theearcapsuleinthehandsetcreatesamagneticeld.Asforhearing
aids worn behind the ear, the telephone conversation is heard louder and
clearer due to the magnetic coupling. The switch on the hearing aid must
be set to the position „T“.
However, due to the wide range of hearing aids available, there is no guar-
anteethatthetelephonewillfunctionproblem−freewitheverymodel.

3.2.3 Transmission of the caller’s telephone number
The ”Transmission of the caller’s telephone number” is a service provided
by the telephone network provider and possibly has to be applied for and
released. The function is also called CLIP(CallingLineIdenticationPres-
entation).
3.2.4 Settings with and without PIN protection
In this manual only the settings are described, which can be set without
the 4-digit authorization PIN (Personal IdenticationNumber). The settings
with authorization PIN are described in the programming instructions.
3.2.5 Enquiry call and transfer of calls
Your telephone is connected to a PBX, the functions „enquiry call“ and
„transfer of calls“ can be used in conjunction with the R key. The R key is
not programmed in the factory pre-set of the phone, but can be set with
PIN authorization.
3.3 Navigate the phone with the display keys
In idle mode you have access to the phonebook (P-book), the call list
(List), the menu and the loudspeaker ( ) via the display key.
3.3.1 Menu control
You can set your phone via the menu.
Menu Open the main menu.
Select function (forward).
Select function (backward).
Ok Conrmentry/function.
Back Short press: back to the next higher level.
Long press: back to idle mode.

4 Telephoning
4.1 Taking a call
Your phone rings.
Pick-up the handset.
Before accepting the call
Atrst„Call“appearsinthedisplay,afterthisthecaller‘s
name, if it is stored in the phonebook or is transferred
from the telephone system. If no name is present, so the
number is shown if it has been transmitted.
Theashlightasheswhilethephoneisringing(ifthe
function is turned on).
Alternative call acceptance
Acceptance via the loudspeaker key (see section
„4.5 hands-free operation“ on page 12).
Acceptance via the radio pendant (see section “Call ac-
ceptance via radio pendant on page 14).
Call acceptance, if the handset is not replaced correctly
Even if the handset is not replaced correctly after a conver-
sation, the phone rings for incoming call. Replace the
handset and pick it up again. Start conversation.
4.2 Making a call
Dial the telephone number (22 digits maximum). If the
number is incorrect, the last digit may be deleted by
pressing the key .
Seize the line. The number is dialed. During the call, the call
duration is displayed.

Alternatives
You can also lift the handset and dial the number. A cor-
rection of the number is not possible.
You can dial on hook (see next section).
4.3 On-Hook-Dialling
You do not need to pick-up the handset in order to start the dialling proc-
ess. Only as soon as the target subscriber answers your call, pick-up the
handset as usual.
Press key and wait for the dialling tone.
Enter the phone number.
Pick-up the handset as soon as the subscriber answers
your call. Start conversation.
4.4 Listening in
You can activate the loudspeaker during a call so that the conversation
can be heard in the room.
Press key. You can adjust the volume of the loud-
speaker via the middle slider above the display.
Deactivate the loudspeaker: Press key.
4.5 Hands-free operation
In addition to the listening-in function, the hands-free mode allows to hold
a telephone conversation while the handset is on-hook. You talk into the
microphone and listen over the loudspeaker.
You receive a call:
Press key. The hands-free mode is activated.
After conversation press key. The line is discon-
nected.

You call a subscriber:
Dial the telephone number.
Press key. The hands-free mode is activated and the
telephone number is dialled.
End conversation. Press key. The line is discon-
nected.
Continue the call via handset
Youcannishhands-freeoperationbypickingupthehand-
set.
4.6 Switching between handset and hands-free operation
You are holding a telephone conversation and now intend to
switch from the handset to the hands-free mode.
Press key and keep it pressed.
Replace the handset. Afterwards, release the loudspeaker
key. The hands-free mode is activated.
4.7 Volume adjustments
Handset volume > left slide switch.
Ringer volume > right slide switch.
Loudspeaker volume > slide switch in the middle.
Push slide switch to the right: increasing volume.
Push slide switch to the left: decreasing volume.

4.8 Call acceptance via radio pendant
Variant „L-Phone II-f“ only.
Youcanacceptandnishanincomingcallviaanregisteredradiopen-
dant.
If your telephone rings, press the button of the pendant.
The phone switches info hands-free mode.Fornishingthe
call, press the button of the pendant again. The phone
disengages the line automatically.
Function must be switched on
In factory pre-set, the function “Call acceptance via radio
pendant”isswitchedo.Thefunctioncanbeswitchedon
only with PIN authorization.

5 Speed dialling, abbreviated dialling and phonebook
5.1 Speed dialling
You can store 7 telephone numbers on the speed dialling keys on the right
side of the phone. You can dial each number with one keystroke. Speed
dialling key 1 the upper key, speed dialling key 2 is the key below it etc.
5.1.1 Dialling via speed dialling keys
In idle mode, press the desired speed dialling key. The
selected target subscriber number is shown in the display
and will be dialled. The hands-free mode is activated.
Pick-up the handset when the subscriber answers the call
or stay with the hands-free mode.
5.1.2 Storing speed dialling numbers
Open Menu > „Fast dialling“ > Ok > „Speed dial. nos. “ >
Ok.
Press to select speed dialling number > Ok.
Enter the number, 20 digits maximum > Ok.
Press to select the next speed dialling number or
press and hold Back to return to standby mode.
Edit/Delete
While entering the number, you can delete the last digit
with or delete the entire number with Delete.
You can enter dialling pauses via the lower speed dialling
key.
If a speed dialling key is assigned with another function,
no speed dialling number can be stored. „Not allowed“
appears in the display.

5.1.3 Label the name plate beside the speed dialling key
Label the name plate: Write down the speed dialling address.
Insert the name plate: Lay the name plate into the slot. Slide the plastic
coverintotheuppergab(seegureontheright),curveitandpushthe
other end of the cover into the other gap.
Exchange name plate: Use the wire of a paper
clip or another suitable tool to reach into the
lower plastic cover’s gap. Pull the plastic cover in
an upward direction and remove it.
5.2 Abbreviated dialling
You have the option to store up to 10 frequently used telephone num-
bers and thus abbreviate the dialling process. They are stored under call
number memory stations 0 - 9 (numeric key pad). Each of this numbers
you can dial by a long keypress.
5.2.1 Dialling abbreviated numbers
Pick up the handset (or alternatively press the loudspeaker
key).
Press corresponding numeric key (0-9) and hold it pressed
up to 3 sec. The number appears in the display and is
dialled automatically.
Hold conversation as soon as the called party answers the
call.
5.2.2 Storing abbreviated numbers
Open Menu > „Fast dialling“ > Ok.
Press to select „Abbreviat. nos.“ > Ok.
Press to select the abbreviated number (0-9) > Ok.

5.3 Phonebook
Fifty phone numbers can be stored in the phonebook together with the as-
sociated names. The phone book entries are arranged alphabetically.
5.3.1 Dialling phonebook entries
Open Phonebook.
Enterrstletterofthenameorsearchentrywiththe
keys. The name appears in the display.
How to enter letters please see the section „Enter names“
below.
Pick up the handset (or press loudspeaker key). The
number is dialled.
Entries
Ifmultipleentrieswiththesamerstletterareavailable,you
can select the desired name using the arrow keys.
5.3.2 Set up the phonebook
Enter names
You enter the letter of the name using the numeric keys. Beside to the
keys the letters and symbols belonging to the keys are printed.

If you enter the same letter twice or a further letter on a key,
wait until the cursor moves to the next automatically.
The rst letter is automatically capitalized, the following
small.

Open Menu > „Fast dialling“ > Ok.
Press to select „Phonebook“ > Ok > „New entry“
> Ok.
Enter name, 16 digits maximum > Ok.
Enter number, 20 digits maximum > Ok.

page 17.
Create new entry or press and hold Back to return to
standby mode.
