T AD-C600
INTRODUCTION
Inspiring the joy of listening
Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. (TADL) grew from the spirit to discover technologies to perfectly recreate the pure
sound of live performances with uncompromising craftsmanship. We have inherited our philosophy from Bart Locanthi—
recognized across the globe as the ultimate sound technologist—who believed that genuine technology is true to the basics
and that genuine technology places greater importance on sound quality than on technology for its own sake.
At TADL, we are honing our technology to create equipment that reproduces musical sounds that evoke both the energy and
impact of live music.
Features
The TAD-C600 Pre-Amplifier is the product of long years of exacting research in audio and electronics technology,
built to create an exciting new level of high-fidelity sound.
1. Duallogic-Circuit Technology
In order to accurately transmit audio signals, it is important that the dynamic characteristics of the transmission circuitry be
precisely matched to the polarity of the signals, and remain unaffected by external noise and changes in ground potential.
For this reason, fully balanced circuitry has been adopted in order to assure accurate transmission of signals with the correct
polarity.
Further, the uniformity of right and left channels is crucial to a stereo amplifier. To preserve that uniformity, identical PCB
units have been designed into each channel, together with identical lengths of wiring and identical styling, aiming to achieve
the ideal in every way.
2. Damping Technology
The massive aluminum chassis, 33 mm thick and 15 kg in weight, not only resists external vibration produced by speakers,
but electrically produces a low and stable ground potential.
In addition, the spike insulators release stresses received by the chassis from the mounting surface, while the three-point
suspension insulators eliminate instability produced by uneven mounting surfaces.
3. Low-noise design
In order to eliminate effects from power transformer vibration and magnetic flux leakage, the TAD-C600 features a dual-case
design to separately house the main electronics and power sections. Housing the power section in a separate structure
has made it possible to introduce a super-powerful 400 VA-class audio power transformer, thus allowing the accurate
reproduction of every aspect of the original audio signals.
With its full-balanced design, the TAD-C600’s Duallogic-Circuit Technology, together with direct-current panel controls, LED
indicators, and lights, all contribute toward approaching the ultimate in high-fidelity and low noise.
4. Simple design for high-fidelity signal transmission
TAD believes that a simple signal path is the best means of producing accurate audio signals with high fidelity.
Signals input to the TAD-C600 are first processed for signal volume by the electronic volume control, after which they are
output by the 1st stage amplifier. With this simple output path, the INPUT SELECTOR remains as the only switch connected
in serial with the signal line.
The electronic volume controls feature TAD-developed ladder resistor-switching devices, boasting of ATT characteristics with
ultra-high accuracy and extremely low distortion (with 0.0005 % or less/1 Vrms inputs). This also produces the characteristic
low impedance shift in the input/output connections, and reduces sound deterioration when the volume is set to low levels.
Newly developed electronic volume controls are installed independently on left and right channels, thus helping realize
uniformity between left and right channels, while producing accurate sound localization and acoustic presence. In addition,
the secondary stage after the electronic volume controls features dual independent circuitry, thus resisting degradation of
sound quality due to output signal switching or branching, and eliminating interference between secondary-stage devices.

Linking multiple Pre-Amplifiers
Using a commercially available
Ø
3.5mm stereo mini-cable, the MASTER OUT jack on one Pre-Amplifier can be connected to
the SLAVE IN jack on another Pre-Amplifier, in this way allowing linkage of the input select and sound volume controls of two or
more Pre-Amplifiers.
Using this function, the TAD-C600 can be combined with a monaural power amplifier for the ultimate in stereo presence.
Further, by using the units as 4-channel (or more) Pre-Amplifiers, you can enjoy multichannel playback.
Note that the devices connected to the unit connected to the SLAVE IN jack will function in the SLAVE mode.
SLAVE mode operations
'When in the SLAVE mode, the display will appear as follows:
'When the SLAVE mode is enabled, the following functions can
be set via the main unit’s keys:
• L-R balance setting, input level setting, PASS through setting,
auto power-down mode, output settings
'When the SLAVE mode is enabled, operations are performed
from devices on the MASTER side to devices on the SLAVE side.
When using the remote control to operate a device, it should be
pointed at the device on the MASTER side.
'When the SLAVE mode is enabled, the power off, sound volume
adjustment, input select, mute, display (DISP), and auto power
down functions are performed on the MASTER side device;
operations cannot be performed from devices on the SLAVE side.
Note
'When a stereo mini-cable is used to connect the main unit’s MASTER OUT jack to the 12 V trigger input connector on a
TAD-M4300 or TAD-M2500, operating the main unit’s ON/Standby key will activate the same operation on the connected
TAD-M4300 or TAD-M2500. Be sure to use the proper stereo mini-cable, since use of a monaural mini-cable will cause the
generation of noise.
'Since the TAD-C600 has a 5 V trigger output voltage, ON/Standby operation described above cannot be guaranteed when the
unit is connected to a device with 12 V trigger input, other than the TAD-M4300 or TAD-M2500.
'It is possible to connect two or more Pre-Amplifiers in cascade style, but some operating delay may occur when three or
more are connected in that way.
