CONSERVE ESTE MANUAL
Usted necesitará el manual para chequear
las reglas de seguridad y precaución,
instrucciones de ensamble, procedimientos
de mantenimiento y operación, y diagrama.
Mantenga su factura junto con este manual.
Escriba el número de factura en la parte
interna de la cubierta frontal. Guarde el manual
y la factura en un lugar seco y seguro para
futuras referencias.
INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD
AVISO: Cuando utilice su herramienta,
siempre deben seguirse algunas precauciones
básicas de seguridad para reducir riesgos de
daños personales y daños al equipo.
Lea todas las instrucciones antes de usar su
herramienta.
1. Mantenga el área de trabajo en orden.
Las áreas y bancos desordenados propician
accidentes.
2. Observe las condiciones del área
de trabajo. No utilice maquinas o herramientas
eléctricas en áreas mojadas o húmedas. No
exponga su herramienta a la lluvia. Mantenga
el área de trabajo bien iluminada. No utilice
herramientas eléctricas en presencia de gases
o líquidos inamables.
3. Prevéngase contra los choques
eléctricos. Prevenga el contacto del cuerpo
con supercies conectadas a tierra tales como
tuberías, radiadores y refrigeradores.
4. Mantenga a los niños alejados.
Los niños nunca deben estar cerca del área
de trabajo. No permita que ellos sostengan
maquinas, herramientas o cables de extensión.
No permita que otras personas toquen la
herramienta, manténgalas alejadas de su
campo de trabajo.
5. Mantenga guardado el equipo mientras
no esté en uso. Cuando no este en uso, la
herramienta debe guardarse en un lugar seco y
libre de polvo. Siempre guarde su herramienta
bajo llave para que no esté al alcance de los
niños.
6. No forcé la herramienta. Esta hará mejor
su trabajo y será mas seguirá dentro del rango
para la cual fue diseñada. Evite exceder la
capacidad de la herramienta.
7. Utilice la herramienta eléctrica adecuada.
No utilice herramientas eléctricas para trabajos
pesados para los cuales no ha sido diseñada.
8.Utilice la vestimenta apropiada. No utilice
ropa suelta, guantes, corbatas o joyería que
pueda ser atrapada en las partes móviles. No
utilice calzado resbaloso. Utilice protector de
cabello para retener el cabello largo.
9.Utilice lentes de seguridad: Siempre
utilice accesorios de seguridad como: lentes,
caretas y mascarillas contra polvo, cuando
trabaje con materiales que despidan partes
metálicas, virutas o polvos químicos.
10. No use el cable de alimentación para
nes para los cuales no está diseñado: No
lleve la herramienta colgada del cable y no tire
de éste para desconectar la herramienta de
la base de enchufe. Proteja el cable contra el
calor, el aceite y las esquinas aladas.
11. Afiance la pieza de trabajo. Utilice un

dispositivo de fijación o una mordaza para
mantener rme la pieza de trabajo. Mantenga
el balance adecuado todo el tiempo sobre
sus pies. No trate de alcanzar algo sobre
la maquina o se cruce cuando esté en
funcionamiento.
12. No se extralimite. Evite toda postura que
cause cansancio. Cuide de que su posición
sea segura y de que conserve el equilibrio.
13. Mantenga las herramientas en las
mejores condiciones. Mantenga las
herramientas limpias para tener la mejor
ejecución y seguridad. Siga las instrucciones
para lubricación y cambio de accesorios.
Verifiqu e los c abl es de l a herramie nta
periódicamente y si se encuentran dañados,
llévelos a reparar a un Centro de Servicio
Autorizado Takima. Los mangos ó manijas
deben siempre permanecer limpios, secos,
libres de aceite y grasas.
14. Desconecte la herramienta. Desconecte
la herramienta cuando no esté en uso, antes
de proceder al mantenimiento.
15. Reduzca el riesgo de encendido. No lleve
ninguna herramienta con el dedo puesto sobre
el interruptor mientras esté conectado a la red
eléctrica. Asegúrese de que el interruptor esté
en la posición “desconectado” (OFF) antes de
conectar el cable de alimentación.
16. Extensiones para exterior. En e l
exterior, utilice solamente cables de extensión
homologados y marcados.
17. Manténgase alerta. Fíjese en lo
que está haciendo, utilice su sentido común.
No opere ninguna herramienta cuando esté
cansado.
18. Cheque las partes dañadas.
Antes de continuar utilizando la maquina,
los p rot ecto res u o tra s part es mó vil es
que pudieran estar dañadas deben ser
cuidadosamente revisada, para asegurarse
que operan apropiadamente y trabajaran
correctamente. Revise también la alineación de
las partes móviles, si están atascadas, o si hay
alguna probable ruptura de las partes, cheque
también el montaje, así como cualquier otra
condición que pueda afectar la operación de
la herramienta. Todos los componentes deben
estar montados adecuadamente y cumplir
los requisitos para garantizar el correcto
funcionamiento del aparato. Un protector u
otra parte que estén dañadas deberán ser
apropiadamente reparadas o cambiadas. Todo
interruptor de mando deteriorado, deberá
ser reemplazado por un centro de servicio
autorizado. No utilice ninguna herramienta
eléctrica en la cual el interruptor no tenga
contacto.
19. Reemplazo de partes y accesorios.
Cuando necesite remplazar las piezas, utilice
solamente piezas originales. El reemplazo
inadecuado de una pieza invalidaría la
garantía. Solo utilice accesorios originales,
destinados para usarse con esta herramienta.
20. ATENCION!! Para su seguridad
personal utilice únicamente los accesorios
o aparatos adicionales indicados en las
instrucciones de manejo o recomendados por
el fabricante de la herramienta. La utilización
de útiles diferentes a los indicados en las
instrucciones de manejo, puede acarrear
riesgo personal.

21. Protección para oídos. Utilice
protectores auriculares para trabajos que
hagan ruidos superiores a 85db.
22. Tenga en cuenta el voltaje del
suministro de energía: Asegúrese de que el
voltaje del suministro de corriente es el mismo
que se indica en la placa de la herramienta.
Si el voltaje de la fuente es mayor que el
especicado el usuario podría sufrir un grave
accidente, además de que arruinaría la
herramienta. Nunca conecte la herramienta
antes de confirmar cual es el voltaje del
suministro de corriente. Por otro lado, si la
corriente de la fuente es inferior a la necesaria,
se dañara el motor.
Instrucciones de seguridad adicionales
para sierras caladoras.
• Al momento de ajustar y cambiar las hojas
o cuchillas de la sierra, siga siempre las
instrucciones.
• No trate de extender excesivamente su
radio de acción. Utilice el calzado apropiado y
siempre mantenga el equilibrio de su cuerpo,
especialmente cuando se encuentre sobre una
escalera o andamio.
• Utilice sólo hojas o cuchillas que se
encuentren en perfectas condiciones.
• La zapata debe permanecer plana sobre la
pieza de trabajo.
• No le aplique presión excesiva a la sierra
caladora, ya que sólo logrará que funcione
más lentamente.
• Siempre apague la caladora antes de ponerla
a un lado.
• Desconecte la sierra caladora cuando no la
vaya a utilizar, antes de limpiarla y al cambiar
las hojas o cuchillas.
• Esta unidad debe utilizarse solamente como
una herramienta de mano y nunca se le debe
forzar a trabajar en posición invertida, para
que ésta funcione como una caladora, a menos
que se utilice con los accesorios destinados
para ello.
Doble aislamiento
Su sierra caladora es de doble aislamiento.
Esto signica que dos barreras independientes
de aislamiento, lo protegen a usted de entrar
en contacto con piezas de metal, protegiéndolo
así del riesgo de una descarga eléctrica.
Seguridad Eléctrica
Asegúrese que el suministro de electricidad
sea igual al voltaje indicado en la placa de
proporciones. Esta herramienta está equipada
con un cable de dos núcleos magnéticos; las
guías en la punta del cable no están diseñadas
para ningún tipo de enchufe.
Datos Técnicos
El nivel de presión de ruido de esta
herramienta cumple con los requisitos según la
legislación del EEC.
Nosotros recomendamos que tome las
medidas necesarias para proteger su
audición, si considera que el nivel de sonido

Safety Warnings for Jigsaws
• Hold power tool by insulated gripping
surfaces, when performing an operation
where the cutting accessory may contact
hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting
accessory contacting a “live” wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool “live”
and could give the operator an electric shock.
• Keep hands away from the sawing range.
Do not reach under the workpiece. Contact
with the saw blade can lead to injuries.
• Apply the machine to the workpiece only
when switched on. Otherwise there is danger
of kickback when the cutting tool jams in the
workpiece.
• Pay attention that the base plate 8 rests
securely on the material while sawing.
A jammed saw blade can break or lead to
kickback.
• When the cut is completed, switch off the
machine and then pull the saw blade out of
the cut only after it has come to a standstill.
In this manner you can avoid kickback and can
place down the machine securely.
• Use only undamaged saw blades that are
in perfect condition. Bent or dull saw blades
can break, negatively inuence the cut, or lead
to kickback.
• Do not brake the saw blade to a stop by
applying side pressure after switching off.
The saw blade can be damaged, break or
cause kickback.
• Use suitable detectors to determine if
utility lines are hidden in the work area or
call the local utility company for assistance.
Contact with electric lines can lead to re and
electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead
to explosion. Penetrating a water line causes
property damage or may cause an electric
shock.
• Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped
with clamping devices or in a vice is held more
secure than by hand.
• Always wait until the machine has come to
a complete stop before placing it down. The
tool insert can jam and lead to loss of control
over the power tool.
Products sold in GB only: Your product is
tted with an BS 1363/A approved electric plug
with internal fuse (ASTA approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets,
it should be cut off and an appropriate plug
fitted in its place by an authorised customer
service agent. The replacement plug should
have the same fuse rating as the original plug.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid
a possible shock hazard and should never be
inserted into a mains socket elsewhere.
Products sold in AUS and NZ only: Use a
residual current device (RCD) with a rated
residual current of 30 mA or less.

Intended Use
The machine is intended for making separating
cuts and cutouts in wood, plastic, metal,
ceramic plates and rubber while resting rmly
on the workpiece. It is suitable for straight and
curved cuts with mitre angles to 45°. The saw

blade recommendations are to be observed.

Assembly
•Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Replacing/Inserting the Saw Blade
•When mounting the saw blade, wear
protective gloves.
Danger of injury when touching the saw blade.
Selecting a Saw Blade
An overview of recommended saw blades
can be found at the end of these instructions.
Use only T-shank saw blades. The saw blade
should not be longer than required for the
intended cut.
Use a thin saw blade for narrow curve cuts.
Inserting/Replacing the Saw Blade (see
figure A)
Before inserting the saw blade 10, set the
adjusting lever for orbital action 7to setting III.
Insert the saw blade 10 lateral to the cutting
direction into the stroke rod 13.
Turn the saw blade 10 so that the toothing
faces toward the cutting direction. Pull the saw
blade 10 a little downward until it engages.
While inserting the saw blade, pay attention
that the back of the saw blade is positioned in
the groove of the guide roller 9.
•Check the tight seating of the saw blade.

A loose saw blade can fall out and lead to
injuries.
For removal of the saw blade, proceed in
reverse order.
Splinter Guard (see gure B)
The splinter guard 14 (accessory) can prevent
fraying of the surface while sawing wood. The
splinter guard can only be used for certain saw
blade types and only for cutting angles of 0°.
When sawing with the splinter guard, the base
plate 8must not be moved back for cuts that
are close to the edge.
Press the splinter guard 14 from the bottom
into the base plate 8.
Dust/Chip Extraction
• Dusts from materials such as lead-containing
coatings, some wood types, minerals and
metal can be harmful to one’s health. Touching
or breathing-in the dusts can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections
of the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust,
are considered as carcinogenic, especially
in connection with wood-treatment additives
(chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by
specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working
place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class
respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your
country for the materials to be worked.
• Prevent dust accumulation at the
workplace. Dusts can easily ignite.
Operation
Operating Modes
• Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Orbital Action Settings
The four orbital action settings allow for optimal
adaptation of cutting speed, cutting capacity
and cutting pattern to the material being
sawed.
The orbital action can be adjusted with the
adjusting lever 7, even during operation.
Setting 0 No orbital action
Setting I Small orbital action
Setting II Medium orbital action
Setting III Large orbital action
The optimal orbital action setting for the
respective application can be determined
through practical testing. The following
recommendations apply:
– Select a lower orbital action setting (or switch
it off) for a ner and cleaner cutting edge.
– For thin materials such as sheet metal,
switch the orbital action off.
– For hard materials such as steel, work with
low orbital action.
– For soft materials and when sawing in the
direction of the grain, work with maximum
orbital action.
Adjusting the Cutting Angle (see gure C)
The base plate 8can be swivelled by 45° to the
left or right for mitre cuts.
Loosen the screw 16 and lightly slide the base
plate 8in the direction of the saw blade 10.
For adjustment of precise mitre angles, the
base plate has adjustment notches on the left
and right at 0° and 45°. Swivel the base plate
8to the desired position according to the scale
15. Other mitre angles can be adjusted using a
protractor.

Afterwards, push the base plate 8to the stop
toward the mains cable.
Tighten the screw 16 again.
The splinter guard 14 can not be inserted for
mitre cuts.
Offsetting the Base Plate (see gure D)
For sawing close to edges, the base plate 8
can be offset to the rear.
Completely unscrew the screw 16 using the
Allen key 5.
Take the base plate 8off and remount it offset
again so that the screw 16 can be screwed into
the rear bolt hole 18.
Push the base plate 8toward the positioning
pin/mark 17 until it engages. Now, tighten the
screw 16 again.
Sawing with the base plate 8offset is possible
only with a mitre angle of 0°. In addition, the
parallel guide with circle cutter 21 (accessory)
as well as the splinter guard 14 may not be
used.
Sawdust Blower Device
With the air jet of the sawdust blower device
6, the cutting line can be kept free of dust and
chips.
Sawdust-blower setting I:
Low blow effect for sawing in metal and
operation with coolant/lubricant.
Sawdust-blower setting II:
Medium blow effect for sawing materials with
low chip removal rate, e. g., hardwood.
Sawdust-blower setting III:
Large blow effect for sawing materials with
high chip removal rate, e.g., softwood, plastic,
etc.
Starting Operation
• Observe correct mains voltage! The
voltage of the power source must agree
with the voltage specied on the nameplate
of the machine. Power tools marked with
230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch
3.
To lock the On/Off switch, keep it pressed and
additionally push the lock-on button 4.
To switch off the machine, release the On/Off
switch 3. When the On/Off switch 3is locked,
press it rst and then release it.
Controlling/Presetting the Stroke Rate (GST
85 PBE)
Increasing or reducing the pressure on the
On/Off switch 3enables stepless stroke-rate
control of the switched-on machine.
Light pressure on the On/Off switch 3results in
a low stroke rate. Increasing the pressure also
increases the stroke rate.
When the On/Off switch 3is locked, it is not
possible to reduce the stroke rate.
With the thumbwheel for stroke rate
preselection 2, the stroke rate can be preset
and changed during operation.
A–B: Low stroke rate
C–D: Medium stroke rate
E: High stroke rate
The required stroke rate is dependent on the
material and the working conditions and can be
determined by a practical trial.
Reducing the stroke rate is recommended
when the saw blade engages in the material as
well as when sawing plastic and aluminium.
After longer periods of work at low stroke
rate, the machine can heat up considerably.

Remove the saw blade from the machine and
allow the machine to cool down by running it
for approx. 3 minutes at maximum stroke rate.
Working Advice
•Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
•When working small or thin work pieces,
always use a sturdy support or a saw table
(accessory).
Check wood, press boards, building materials,
etc. for foreign objects such as nails, screws or
similar, and remove them, if required.
While working, hold the machine by the handle
12 and guide it alongside the desired cutting
line. For precise cuts and quiet running, guide
the machine additionally with the other hand.
Contact Protector
The contact protector 11 attached to the casing
prevents accidental touching of the saw blade
during the working procedure and may not be
removed.
Plunge Cutting (see figure E)
•The plunge cutting procedure is only
suitable for treating soft materials such as
wood, plaster board or similar! Do not work
metal materials with the plunge cutting
procedure!
Use only short saw blades for plunge cutting.
Plunge cutting is possible only with the mitre
angle set at 0°.
Place the machine with the front edge of the
base plate 8on to the workpiece without the
saw blade 10 touching the workpiece and
switch on. For machines with stroke rate
control, select the maximum stroke rate. Firmly
hold the machine against the workpiece and
by tilting the machine, slowly plunge the saw
blade into the workpiece.
When the base plate 8fully lays on the
workpiece, continue sawing along the desired
cutting line.
Paralle l Guide wit h C i rcl e C u tter
(Accessory)
For cuts using the parallel guide with circle
cutter 21 (accessory), the thickness of the
material must not exceed a maximum of 30
mm.
Parallel Cuts (see figure F): Loosen the locking
screw 20 and slide the scale of the parallel
guide through the lead 19 in the base plate.
Set the desired cutting width as the scale value
on the inside edge of the base plate. Tighten
the locking screw 20.
Circular Cuts (see figure G): Set the locking
screw 20 to the other side of the parallel guide.
Slide the scale of the parallel guide through
the lead 19 in the base plate. Drill a hole in the
workpiece centred in the section to be sawn.
Insert the centring tip 22 through the inside
opening of the parallel guide and into the
drilled hole. Set the radius as the scale value
on the inside edge of the base plate. Tighten
the locking screw 20.
Coolant/Lubricant
When sawing metal, coolant/lubricant should
be applied alongside cutting line because of
the material heating up.
Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
•Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
• For safe and proper working, always keep
the machine and ventilation slots clean.

Clean the saw blade holder regularly. For this,
remove the saw blade from the machine and
lightly tap out the machine on a level surface.
Heavy contamination of the machine can
lead to malfunctions. Therefore, do not saw
materials that produce a lot of dust from below
or overhead.
• In extreme conditions, always use dust
extraction as far as possible. Blow out
ventilation slots frequently and install a
residual current device (RCD). When working
metals, conductive dust can settle in the
interior of the power tool. The total insulation of
the power tool can be impaired.
Lubricate the guide roller 9occasionally with a
drop of oil.
Check the guide roller 9regularly. If worn,
it must be replaced through an authorised
TAKIMA after-sales service agent.
If the replacement of the supply cord is
necessary, this has to be done by TAKIMA or
an authorized TAKIMA service agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
If the machine should fail despite the care
taken in manufacturing and testing procedures,
repair should be carried out by an after-sales
service centre for TAKIMA power tools.
