FDA regulations “title 21, CFR, chapter 1, subchapter J, based on the

Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968“, and is

emitted inside of this product is completely confined in the

protective housings.

1) Read Instructions —All the safety and operating instructions should

be read before the product is operated.

2) Retain Instructions —The safety and operating instructions should

be retained for future reference.

3) Heed Warnings —All warnings on the product and in the operating

instructions should be adhered to.

4) Follow Instructions —All operating and use instructions should be

followed.

5) Cleaning —Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning.

Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for

cleaning.

6) Attachments —Do not use attachments not recommended by the

product manufacturer as they may cause hazards.

7) Water and Moisture —Do not use this product near water —for

example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a

wet basement; or near a swimming pool; and the like.

8) Accessories —Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand,

tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to

a child or adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only with a

cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer,

or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the

manufacturer’s instructions, and should use a

mounting accessory recommended by the

manufacturer.

9) A product and cart combination should be

moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force,

and uneven surfaces may cause the product and

cart combination to overturn.

10) Ventilation —Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for

ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to

protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or

covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product

on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This product should not be

placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless

proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s instructions have

been adhered to.

11) Power Sources —This product should be operated only from the

type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure

of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer

or local power company. For products intended to operate from battery

power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.

12) Grounding or Polarization —This product may be equipped with a

polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug having one blade wider

than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This

is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the

outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact

your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety

purpose of the polarized plug.

13) Power-Cord Protection —Power-supply cords should be routed so

that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon

or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs,

convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the

product.

14) Outdoor Antenna Grounding —If an outside antenna or cable

system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable

system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage

surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical

Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper

grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-

in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors,

location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes,

and requirements for the grounding electrode.

Note to CATV system installer:

This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to

Section 820-40 of the NEC which provides guidelines for proper

grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be

connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point

of cable entry as practical."

15) Lightning —For added protection for this product during a lightning

storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time,

unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable

system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and

power-line surges.

16) Power Lines —An outside antenna system should not be located in

the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power

circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When

installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to

keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them

might be fatal.

17) Overloading —Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or

integral convenience receptacles as this can result in risk of fire or

electric shock.

18) Object and Liquid Entry —Never push objects of any kind into this

product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points

or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill

liquid of any kind on the product.

19) Servicing —Do not attempt to service this product yourself as

opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or

other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

20) Damage Requiring Service —Unplug this product from the wall

outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the

following conditions:

a ) when the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.

b ) if liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product.

c ) if the product has been exposed to rain or water.

d)if the product does not operate normally by following the operating

instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the

operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may

result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified

technician to restore the product to its normal operation.

e) if the product has been dropped or damaged in any way.

f)when the product exhibits a distinct change in performance _ this

indicates a need for service.

21) Replacement Parts —When replacement parts are required, be

sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by

the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part.

Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other

hazards.

22) Safety Check —Upon completion of any service or repairs to this

product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to

determine that the product is in proper operating condition.

23) Wall or Ceiling Mounting —The product should be mounted to a

wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.

24) Heat —The product should be situated away from heat sources

such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products (including

amplifiers) that produce heat.

IMPORTANT(for U.K.Customers)

DO NOT cut off the mains plug from this

equipment. If the plug fitted is not suitable

for the power points in your home or the

cable is too short to reach a power point,

then obtain an appropriate safety approved

extension lead or consult your dealer.

If nonetheless the mains plug is cut off,

remove the fuse and dispose of the plug

immediately, to avoid a possible shock

hazard by inadvertent connection to the

mains supply.

If this product is not provided with a mains

plug, or one has to be fitted, then follow the

instructions given below:

IMPORTANT. DO NOT make any

connection to the larger terminal which is

marked with the letter E or by the safety

earth symbol |or coloured GREEN or

GREEN-and-YELLOW.

The wires in the mains lead on this product

are coloured in accordance with the

following code:

BLUE : NEUTRAL

BROWN : LIVE

As these colours may not correspond with

the coloured markings identifying the

terminals in your plug proceed as follows:

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be

connected to the terminal which is marked

with the letter N or coloured BLACK.

The wire which is coloured BROWN must

be connected to the terminal which is

marked with the letter L or coloured RED.

When replacing the fuse only a correctly

rated approved type should be used and be

sure to re-fit the fuse cover.

Important Safeguards and

Precautions

Power Cord Protection

To avoid any malfunctions of the unit, and to

protect against electric shock, fire or

personal injury, please observe the

following:

<Hold the plug firmly when connecting or

disconnecting the AC power cord.

<Keep the AC power cord away from the

heating appliances.

<Never put any heavy object on the AC

power cord.

<Do not attempt to repair or reconstruct the

AC power cord in any way.

Location and Handling

<Air vents are provided in the cabinet to

prevent excessive tempratures inside the

unit. Do not place this unit in closed

spaces, cover it, or otherwise block the

vents.

<The ventilation holes should not be

covered. Make sure there is at least 50 cm

of space above and at least 10 cm of

space on each side of this unit. Do not

place a CD player or other equipment on

top of this unit.

<Do not place this unit in direct sunlight, or

near heat sources.

<Keep this unit away from strong magnetic

objects.

<Do not insert or drop anything into this unit

through the air vents as this could cause

serious damage, possibly resulting in fire.

<Do not place any object containing water

or other liquids on this unit. In the event

that liquid should enter the cabinet,

unplug this unit immediately and contact

the retailer or service centre immediately.

<Do not remove the cabinet. Touching parts

inside the cabinet could result in electric

shock and / or damage to the unit.

<Do not use the unit in a car. The operation

can not guaranteed.

<This unit generates heat during operation.

Do NOT place anything on top of this unit.

<Place the unit in a horizontal position, and

do not place anything heavy on it.

Nonuse Periods

<When the unit is not being used, turn the

unit off.

<When left unused for a long perid of time,

the unit should be unplugged from the

household AC outlet.

No Fingers or Other Objects Inside

Do not put any foreign object on the disc

tray.

This unit has a lot of LSI (Large Scale

Integration) devices and ICs (Integrated

Circuits) inside; and on rare occasions it

malfunctions because of static electricity,

electric noise, irregularities in the power

supply, etc.

If something goes wrong with the unit, we

suggest turning it off and on again.

Wichtige Hinweise und

Vorsichtsmaßnahmen

Der richtige Umgang mit dem Netzkabel

Beachten Sie bitte folgende Hinweise, um

Fehlfunktionen des Gerätes vorzubeugen und

Elektroschock, Brand oder andere

Verletzungen zu vermeiden:

<Halten Sie zum Ziehen des Netzkabels immer

den Stecker fest. Ziehen Sie nicht am Kabel.

<Schützen Sie das Netzkabel vor direkter

Hitzeeinwirkung.

<Stellen Sie niemals schwere Objekte auf

dem Kabel ab.

<Versuchen Sie nicht selbst das Netzkabel zu

reparieren oder auszutauschen.

Aufstellungsort und richtiger Umgang

<Die im Gehäuse befindlichen

Lüftungsöffnungen dienen der Luftzirkulation

und damit der Vermeidung extrem hoher

Temperaturen im Geräteinnern. Sie dürfen

niemals verdeckt werden.

<Die Lüftungsöffnungen dürfen nicht verdeckt

werden. Unbedingt den folgenden Abstand

zum Gerät einhalten: Mindestens 50 cm über

und mindestens 10 cm seitlich (alle Seiten)

freihalten. Niemals einen CD-Spieler etc.

den Netzstecker und wenden Sie sich

umgehend an Ihren Händler oder das

nächste Servicecenter.

<Entfernen Sie niemals die Gehäuseabdeckung.

Die Berührung von Teilen im Geräteinnern

kann zu ernsten körperlichen Schäden durch

Stromschlag und/oder zur Beschädigung des

Gerätes führen.

<Betreiben Sie dieses Gerät nicht in einem

Kraftfahrzeug, da die einwandfreie Funktion

nicht garantiert werden kann.

<Dieses Gerät entwickelt bei Betrieb hohe

Temperaturen. NIEMALS andere Geräte,

Gegenstände etc. auf dem Gerät plazieren.

<Das Gerät muss in einer horizontalen

Position aufgestellt und darf keiner hohen

Gewichtsbelastung ausgesetzt werden.

Bei Nichtverwendung

<Schalten Sie das Gerät aus, wenn es nicht in

Betrieb ist.

<Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker, wenn das Gerät

über einen längeren Zeitraum nicht

betrieben wird.

Fremdkörper

Legen Sie keine Fremdkörper in die CD-

Schublade.

Dieses Gerät enthält zahlreiche LSI-

Komponenten (Large Scale Integration) und

IC-Module (integrierte Schaltungen). Infolge

von statischer Elektrizität, magnetischen

Störeinstreuungen,

Netzspannungsschwankungen etc. kann es

ggf. zu Betriebsstörungen kommen.

In diesem Fall empfhelen wir, das Gerät aus-

und nach kurzer Zeit erneut einzuschalten.

Posizionamento e trattamento

dell’apparecchio

<Il mobiletto dispone di fessure di ventilazione

destinate ad evitare che la temperatura

interna raggiunga valori eccessivi. Evitare

pertanto di collocare l’apparecchio in spazi

chiusi quali il vano di un mobile, di non

coprirlo con tendaggi e di non ostruirne

comunque le fessure.

<I fori di ventilazione devono rimanere liberi.

Verificare che vi siano almeno 50 cm di spazio

al disopra ed almeno 10 su ciascuno dei due

lati dell’apparecchio. Non piazzare lettori CD o

altre apparecchiature sopra il PL-D2000.

<Non posizionare l’apparecchio in luoghi

esposti alla luce solare diretta o vicini a

sorgenti di calore.

<Accertarsi che, in prossimità

dell’apparecchio, non ci siano oggetti che

generano forti campi magnetici.

<Non inserire o far cadere nulla nelle fessure di

ventilazione perchépotrebbero derivarne seri

danni, fino al rischio d’incendio.

<Non appoggiare sull’apparecchio oggetti

Nell’eventualitàche un liquido sia comunque

penetrato all’interno, staccare subito

l’apparecchio dall’alimentazione e rivolgersi al

Condensation

Moisture may form on the pickup lens in

the following conditions:

<Immediately after a heater has been

turned on.

<In a steamy or very humid room.

<When the unit is suddenly moved from a

cold environment to a warm one.

If moisture forms inside this unit, it may not

operate properly. In this case, turn on the

power and wait about one hour for the

moisture to evaporate.

On adjusting volume

Do not turn up the volume while listening to

a portion with very low level inputs or no

audio signals. If you do, the speakes may be

damaged when a peak level portion is

played.

If There is Noise Interference on the TV

While a Broadcast is being Received

Depending on the reception condition of the

TV, interference may appear on the TV

monitor while you watch a TV broadcast and

the unit is left on. This is not a malfunction of

the unit or the TV. To watch a TV broadcast,

turn off the unit.

Service

<Do not attempt to service the unit yourself.

service centre.

Copy protection

This DVD player supports Macrovision copy

protection.

On DVD discs that include a copy protection

code, if the contents of the DVD disc are

copied using a VCR, the copy protection

code prevents the videotape copy from

playing normally.

Recommended Measures for Optimum

Picture Excellence

This unit is a precision device that is

constructed using extremely accurate

technology.

Soiling or friction affecting the pickup lens

or disc drive can impair the image quality. At

the worst, neither video nor audio will be

played back. To obtain optimum picture

quality, the player should be checked

(cleaning and replacement of some parts)

every 1,000 hours. Note that this period

varies depending on the environment

(temperature, humidity, dust, ect.) in which

the player is used.

Do not attempt to clean the pickup lens

yourself.

Condensation

De la condensation peut se former sur la

image optimale

Kondensation

Schalten Sie das Gerät in einem solchen Fall

an, und warten Sie mit dem Abspielen einer CD

oder DVD ungefähr eine Stunde.

Einstellen der Wiedergabelautstärke

Stellen Sie die Lautstärke nicht während der

Wiedergabe leiser Passagen oder gänzlich

ohne Audiosignal ein. Andernfalls können die

angeschlossenen Lautsprecher bei

Pegelspitzen, während der späteren

Wiedergabe, Schaden nehmen.

Bildrauschen während des Fernsehempfangs

Abhängig von der Empfangssituation Ihres

Fernsehgeräts, kann bei eingeschaltetem PL-

D2000, während des Empfangs einer Sendung,

Bildrauschen auftreten. Hierbei handelt es sich

Condensa

non alzare il volume dell’apparecchio per

evitare che i diffusori rimangano danneggiati

qualora il livello audio ritorni a valori elevati.

Interferenza audio sul televisore mentre si

riceve una trasmissione

A seconda delle condizioni di ricezione del

televisore, puòmanifestarsi un’interferenza sul

monitor TV mentre si sta guardando una

trasmissione e l’apparecchio èrimasto acceso.

Tale fenomeno non dipende peròda un

funzionamento difettoso del PL-D2000 o del

televisore: indica soltanto che bisogna

spegnere il PL-D2000 quando si sta guardando

un programma TV.

Assistenza

<Èconsigliabile non effettuare personalmente

interventi di riparazione sul PL-D2000.

<In ogni circostanza, rivolgersi sempre al più

vicino Centro Assistenza autorizzato TEAC.

componente) ogni 1000 ore di funzionamento.

Ricordare comunque che questo periodo può

variare a seconda delle condizioni ambientali

(temperatura, umidità, polvere, eccetera) nelle

quali l’apparecchio funziona.

Èsconsigliabile cercare di pulire

personalmente l’obiettivo.

Type of Disc That Can be Played

on This System

This player can playback discs bearing any

of the following marks:

Note-1

<DVD players and discs are designed with

region numbers which dictate the regions

in which a disc can be played. If the

region number on the disc you want to

play does not match the region number in

your DVD player, you will not be able to

play the disc. If you try to play the DVD,

the message “WRONG REGION”will

appear on OSD.

On the rear panel of the unit has a region

code printed.

Note-2

<The specific playback functionality for

some DVD and video CD discs is

determined by the disc manufacturer.

Because this DVD player plays disc data

in accordance with the disc

manufacturer’s guidelines, some functions

may not be available on some discs. Be

sure to read the instructions provided with

the disc.

The “Prohibited”icon displayed

during DVD player operation indicates

that such manufacturer imposed

Der PL-D2000 unterstützt die Wiedergabe

folgender Disk-Typen:

Hinweis-1

<DVD-Player und DVDs besitzen einen

Regionalcode. Dieser Regionalcode

bestimmt, welche DVD auf einem

Abspielgerät einer bestimmten Region

wiedergegeben werden kann. Stimmen die

beiden Codes nicht überein, ist eine

Wiedergabe nicht möglich. Wenn Sie, bei

Nichtübereinstimmung, dennoch versuchen

eine solche DVD wiederzugeben, erscheint

auf dem Bildschirm die Meldung „WRONG

REGION”.

An der Geräterückseite ist der Reginoalcode

aufgedruckt.

<Die spezifische Wiedergabefunktionalität von

DVDs und Video-CDs wird vom jeweiligen

Hersteller festgelegt. Bei der Wiedergabe von

solchen Medien kann es daher vorkommen,

Tipos de discos que pueden

Este reproductor admite los discos que

<Los reproductores y discos DVD son

diseñados con números de zona que

reproducir los discos. Si el número de

zona del disco que desea reproducir no

concuerda con el número de zona de su

reproductor de DVD, no podráreproducir

there is a risk that noise can blast over the

speakers at full volume and cause

About CD-R/CD-RW

Depending on the quality of the disc and/or

the condition of the recording, some CD-R &

CD-RW discs may not be playable.

<Title (DVD)

The longest sections of a picture or a

music piece on a DVD; a movie, ect., for a

picture piece on a video software; or an

album, etc., for a music piece on and

audio software. Each title is assigned a

title number enabling you to locate the

title you want.

<Chapter (DVD)

Sections of a picture or a music piece that

are smaller than titles. A title is composed

of several chapters. Each chapter is

assigned a chapter number enabling you

to locate the chapter you want.

Depending on the disc, no chapters may

be recorded.

<Track (Video or audio CD)

Sections of a picture or a music piece on

a VIDEO or a CD. Each track is assigned a

track number enabling you to locate the

track you want.

Notes on Discs

Disc handling precautions

<To keep the disc clean, handle the disc by

its edge. Do not touch the surface.

<Do not stick paper or tape on the disc.

If there is glue (or a similar substance) on

the disc, remove the glue completely

before using the disc.

<Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight

or sources such as hot air ducts, or leave

it in a car parked in direct sunlight as

there can be considerable rise in

temperature inside the car.

<After playing, store the disc in its case.

<Do not write on the label side with a ball-

point pen or other writing utensils.

<Be careful not to drop or bend the disc.

Disc cleaning precautions

<Before playing, clean the disc with a

cleaning cloth. Wipe the disc from the

center out.

<Do not use solvents such as benzine,

thinner, commerically avaiable cleaners

or anti-static spray intended for vinyl LPs.

Disc installing precautions

<Do not install more than 1 disc on disc

tray.

<Do not place the disc on the tray up-side

down.

<Do not try to close the disc tray when the

disc is not installed properly.

Rand an. Berühren Sie nicht die

Oberfläche.

Klebeetiketten auf der CD/DVD an.

Falls sich Klebstoffreste (oder ähnliche

Substanzen) auf einer Disk befinden,

entfernen Sie diese vor der Wiedergabe

restlos.

<Setzen Sie CDs/DVDs nicht direktem

Sonnenlicht oder der Einwirkung anderer

Hitzequellen aus. Lassen Sie daher Disks,

speziell im Sommer, niemals in einem

geparkten Auto.

<Legen Sie eine CD/DVD nach deren

Einlegen in die CD/DVD-Schublade

<Legen Sie niemals mehr als eine CD/DVD

in die Diskschublade.

<Achten Sie darauf, daßSie CDs/DVDs

nicht versehentlich mit der Labelseite

nach unten in die CD/DVD-Schublade

einlegen.

<Versuchen Sie nicht die CD/DVD-

Schublade zu schließen, wenn eine Disk

nicht korrekt eingelegt ist.

Maneggio dei dischi

<Per mantenere puliti i dischi, non toccare

mai con la mani la superficie incisa ma

afferrarli lungo il bordo.

<Non attaccare sui dischi etichette o nastri

adesivi.

Se rimanessero tracce di colla (o sostanze

simili) toglierle completamente prima di

usare il disco.

<Non lasciare i dischi esposti alla luce

solare diretta, o vicino a sorgenti di

calore. Non lasciarli nemmeno nelle auto

parcheggiate al sole, perchéla

temperatura interna puòsalire

pericolosamente.

<Dopo averli riprodotti, conservare i dischi

nella loro scatola di protezione.

<Non scrivere sull’etichetta del disco con

penne a sfere a di altro genere.

<Attenti a non piegare il disco o farlo

cadere.

Pulizia dei dischi

<Prima di passare alla riproduzione ripulire

il disco con un panno adatto allo scopo.

Strofinare il disco dal centro verso il

bordo.

<Non usare per la pulizia nessun tipo di

solvente, come diluenti, benzina, pulitori

disponibili in commercio o spray

antistatici usati per i dischi in vinile.

Inserimento dei dischi

<Inserire nell’apposito cassetto un solo

disco alla volta.

<Non inserire il disco con l’etichetta rivolta

verso il basso.

<Non cercare di chiudere il cassetto

quando il disco non èappoggiato

correttamente.

Precauciones en la manipulación de los

discos

<Para mantener los discos limpios,

sosténgalos por los bordes sin tocar la

superficie.

<No pegue papel ni cinta adhesiva en el

disco.

Si el disco se mancha con pegamento o

un sustancia similar, límpielo bien antes

de usarlo.

<No exponga el disco a la luz solar directa

ni a fuentes tales como los conductos de

ventilación calientes, ni lo deje en un

coche aparcado al sol, ya que puede

producirse un considerable aumento de la

temperatura en el interior del vehículo.

<Después de la reproducción, guarde el

disco en su estuche.

<No escriba en la cara de la etiqueta con

bolígrafos u otros útiles de escritura.

<Procure que el disco no se caiga ni se

doble.

Precauciones en la limpieza de los

discos

<Antes de la reproducción, limpie el disco

pasando un paño desde el centro hacia

fuera.

<No utilice disolventes como la bencina o

el aguarrás, ni productos de limpieza, ni

aerosoles antiestáticos para discos de

vinilo.

Precauciones en la instalación de discos

<No deposite más de 1 disco en la bandeja.

<No coloque el disco al revés en la

bandeja.

<No trate de cerrar la bandeja si el disco

no estácorrectamente insertado.

Both DVD discs and video CDs have the

material recorded in the PAL and NTSC

systems. Refer to the table below to select

the correct disc type for the type of

connected TV.
