Cleaning — The appliance should be cleaned only as recom-
mended by the manufacturer.
Power Lines — An outdoor antenna should be located away
from power lines.
Outdoor Antenna Grounding — If an outside antenna is
connected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is
grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage
surges and built up static charges. Section 810 of the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70 — 1984, pro-
vides information with respect to proper grounding of the
mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in
wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding con-
ductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to
grounding electrodes; and requirements for the grounding
electrode. See Figure below.

Nonuse Periods — The power cord of the appliance should
be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long
period of time.
Object and Liquid Entry — Care should be taken so that
objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the en-
closure through openings.
Damage Requiring Service — The appliance should be ser-
viced by qualified service personnel when:
A. The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
D. The appliance does not appear to operate normally or
exhibits a marked change in performance; or
E. The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure dam-
aged.
Servicing — The user should not attempt to service the
appliance beyond that described in the operating instruc-

Precautions
Placement of the Unit
As the unit incorporates a powerful
amplifier, heat is radiated from the back
and top of the unit; the unit should be
installed in a well ventilated area. Avoid
installing where it would be exposed to
high temperatures, direct sunlight, high
humidity and dust. If connection wires are
too long, particularly those used to
connect the speakers, it may result in
degradation of the sound. Therefore, keep
the connection cables as short as
possible.
Controls and Connectors
* The buttons with a mark can
be operated with the remote control
(as long as the power cord of the
receiver is plugged into an AC wall
outlet).
FRONT PANEL
@ POWER Button
Press this button to turn the power ON; the
LED indicator incorporated in the VOLUME
control knob will light.
Press it again to turn the power OFF; the
indicator will go out.
Note:
Whenever the power is turned ON, the
frequency of the last broadcast received
appears in the Frequency/Tuner mode
display, and the FUNCTION before the
power is switched off will be selected.
@ STATION MEMORY Buttons
These buttons are used to program
broadcast frequencies in the preset
memory and recall them.
To recall preset channels from 1 - 8, press
the required button momentarily; to recall
preset channels from 9 - 16, press for one
second or longer.

Reception Window
The infrared signal transmitted from the
remote control unit enters the receiver
through this window. Point the top of the
remote control unit at this window. (For
details, see page 8.)
© Frequency/Tuner Mode Display
This display indicates the frequency being
received and also indicates the following:
FMorAM: Indicates the band being
received.
MHz or kHz: Indicates the frequency unit
of the band selected. "MHz"
lights when the FM band is
selected and “kHz” lights
when the AM band is
selected.
© MEMORY Indicator
This indicator lights for five seconds when
the MEMORY button is pressed.
© Memory Channel Display (CH)
When one of the eight STATION MEMORY
buttons is pressed, the corresponding
number will be displayed together with the
“CH" indication.
@ AUTO TUNING Indicator
This indicator lights to show that the Auto
tuning mode has been selected with the
AUTO TUNING button.
© STEREO Indicator
This indicator lights to show that an FM
stereo broadcast is being received.
© TUNED Indicator
This indicator lights when correctly tuned
to a broadcast.
@ VOLUME Control
This control is used to adjust the level of
the signals output to the speakers and
headphones.
When operating with the remote control
unit, press the UP button to increase the
volume and press the DOWN button to
decrease it. At this time, the VOLUME
control knob on the front panel will move
as the button is being pressed while the
LED indicator in the VOLUME control knob
will show the current setting. When the -
MUTING button is pressed, the LED will
flash.
@ SPEAKERS Select Buttons
When either the A or B button is pressed,
sound is output from the speakers
connected to the SPEAKERS A or B
terminals on the rear panel.
When the A and B buttons are pressed
simultaneously, the built-in surround sound
circuit is engaged. For a better surround
sound effect with a greater feeling of
presence, place the speakers connected
to the SPEAKERS A terminals in front of the
listening position, and place the speakers
connected to the SPEAKERS B terminals
behind the listening position.
@ PHONES Jack
The jack is for the connection of
headphones with a standard 1/4" (6.35 mm
dia) stereo phone plug.
@® GRAPHIC EQUALIZER Controls
These controls are used to adjust the 5
frequency bands that result from dividing
the 83 Hz - 12 kHz frequency range into 5.
When these controls are moved in the "+"
direction, response in the corresponding
frequency band is boosted. When they are
moved in the “-" direction, response is
decreased. The characteristics in each
band can be emphasized or de-
emphasized by a maximum of 12 dB
NOTE:
Set to the "0" position to obtain flat
response.
@® HI-FILTER Button
To reduce high-frequency hiss noise when
you listen to any source.
@® LOUDNESS Button
This button compensates for the non-linear
response of the human ear at low volumes.
Set this switch out when listening at
normal levels.
@ FUNCTION buttons and indicators
Press the appropriate button to choose the
required source (among TAPE/DAT
MONITOR, CD/VCR, PHONO, AM, FM).
The indicator corresponding to the button
pressed will light when the source is
selected.
Note: When the TAPE/DAT MONITOR
button is set to ON, only the tape
deck can be selected, and it is
impossible to listen to other sources,
Set the TAPE/DAT MONITOR button
to the ON position only when you
wish to listen to tape. Otherwise,
leave the button in the OFF position.
@® Tuner mode buttons
MONO/ST button:
This button is used to alternate the FM
reception mode between stereo and mono.
When this button is pressed to ON while
receiving an FM stereo broadcast, the
STEREO indicator goes out and the FM
broadcast will be received in mono. It may
be difficult to hear stereo broadcast
clearly in areas where the signals are
weak and reception is noisy; in such a
case, set this button to ON to reduce noise.
To receive FM broadcasts in stereo again,
press this button to return to the stereo
mode (so that the STEREO indicator lights).
AUTO TUNING button:
This button is used to alternate between
the AUTO and MANUAL tuning modes.
MEMORY button:
First tune to the station the frequency of
which is required to be memorized, and
press this button. Then, while the
MEMORY indicator is lit (for about five
seconds), press one of the STATION
MEMORY buttons. The frequency will be
stored in the preset memory
corresponding to the button pressed.
@® TUNING buttons
These buttons are used to tune to
broadcasts in the AUTO and MANUAL
tuning modes.
In either mode, when the upper limit
frequency is reached, the frequency
changes to the lower limit frequency then
tuning starts again in the direction of
higher frequencies. When the lower limit
frequency is reached, tuning restarts from
the top frequency.

This control is used to adjust the balance
between the left and right speakers.
Normally set to the center (click) position.
REAR PANEL
@ FM ANTENNA terminals
Leads from two types of FM antenna can
be connected to these terminals; from a
300-ohm balanced antenna or from a 75-
ohm unbalanced antenna.
When using a 300-ohm balanced FM
antenna, tighten the leads under the right
and middle FM antenna terminals (marked
"300" ohm"). When using a 75-ohm
unbalanced FM antenna, feed the leads
under the left and middle FM antenna
terminals (marked "75 ohm’).
@ AM ANTENNA terminal
Two wires are required for the connection
of an AM outdoor antenna. First, connect
One wire between the AM terminal and a
horizontal antenna wire with a length of 25
to 75 feet (7.5 - 23 m) suspended between
insulators in an outdoor location (the
higher the better). Next, connect the
second wire between the GND terminal of
your unit and a reliable ground.
@® GND terminal
Connect the ground lead of the turntable to
this terminal.
® PHONO input jacks
Connect a turntable with a moving magnet
(MM) cartridge to these jacks. If hum
occurs when playing records, the turntable
is incorrectly grounded. In such a case,
connect the ground lead of the turntable to
the GND terminal.
@ CD/VCR input jacks
These jacks are used for the connection of
an additional high-level signal source such
as a compact disc player or tape deck.
They also accept the audio signal from a
VCR, TY, etc.
@ TAPE/DAT (PLAY/REC) jacks
These jacks are used for the connection of
a tape deck (or other recording
equipment). Connect the output (LINE
OUT) jacks of the tape deck to the PLAY
jacks and connect the input (LINE IN) jacks
of the deck to the REC jacks.
@® SPEAKERS terminals
Two pair of speakers can be connected to
these terminals. Connect the main pair to
the system A terminals, and connect the
second pair to the system 8 terminals.
You can select system A and/or B with the
SPEAKERS select buttons on the front
panel. When systems A and B are used
simultaneously, a surround sound effect
can be obtained.
Connect the speaker cables to the
speakers A/B terminals as shown in the
diagram.
* Press the button, insert the stripped end
of the cord, then release your finger
from the button so that the cord is held
securely.
@ AC OUTLETS
SWITCHED: Power supplied from this
outlet will be turned ON
and OFF when the POWER
switch on the front panel
is switched ON and OFF.
The power consumption
of the component
connected to this AC
outlet should not exceed
100 watts.
UNSWITCHED: Power is always supplied
from this outlet regardless
of the setting of the
POWER switch on the
front panel. Connect the
power cord of a
component which
requires a continuous
power supply to this
outlet. The power
consumption of the
component connected to
this AC outlet should not
exceed 200 watts.
® AM loop antenna
The receiver is equipped with a high-
performance AM LOOP ANTENNA held on
the rear panel with a snap-in hinge.
Swivel it out for the best AM reception.
For improved AM reception, remove the
antenna from the hinge and hang it on a
wall.
AM Loop Antenna Connection
Securely connect the loop antenna leads
between the AM and GND ANTENNA
terminals of this unit. (See the illustration
on page 7.)
@® REMOTE CONTROL Terminals
These terminals are used to link TEAC
components with a “UR* mark.
See “Remote Control Cable Connections"
on page 4.
@ AC cord
The correct voltage for operating your unit
is printed on the rear panel.
REMOTE CONTROL UNIT
@ MUTING Button
Press this button to decrease the volume
level of the speakers or headphones
instantaneously. When this button is
pressed, the output level will be decreased
by 20 dB. To restore the original output
level, press it again.
@ MEMORY SCAN button
When this button is pressed, the preset
frequencies stored in memory for the band
selected (AM or FM) will be scanned
upward sequentially at 5-second intervals.
To release this function, press any of the
AM, FM, MEMORY, STATION MEMORY,
and TUNING UP/DOWN buttons.
@ MEMORY SKIP button
Every time this button is pressed, tuning
skips to the next higher preset frequency
stored in memory for the band selectéd.
Antennas for Optimum Reception
FM Antenna
If the receiver is used in an area with
strong FM signals, a “T*-type antenna
(dipole) may provide a sufficient strong
signal. To connect this antenna, attach the
leads to the 300-ohm terminals, fully
extend the upper sections of the “T” and
position it for optimum reception when
tuned to a broadcast.
In a weak signal area, the use of a roof-top
FM antenna is recommended. A 3-element
antenna is generally sufficient for medium
distances; a 5-element or better antenna
may be required for longer distance and in
fringe areas.
Two types of outdoor antenna are
available: 300-ohm balanced and 75-ohm
unbalanced antennas. 300-ohm antennas
use a flat twin-lead cable, similar to a
standard TV antenna. 75-ohm antennas
use a coaxial cable and these are
recommended for use in areas subject to
interference such as near a road where
car ignition noise is a problem. After
installing a roof-top antenna, check that it
is pointing in the direction from which most
stations are received.
FM antenna connection
When connecting 300-ohm antenna leads,
insert the lugs under the terminals marked
“300 ohm’.
To install a 75-ohm coaxial cable, first strip
the covering of the cable, then feed the
shielding braid so that it comes into
contact with the clamp while the core wire
is tightened under the other “75 ohm” FM
antenna terminal, as shown on the next
page.

AM Antenna
1. AM loop antenna:
In areas where signals are strong or
near broadcast stations, the AM loop
antenna on the rear panel may be
sufficient. This antenna is effective
except in areas where the signal
strength is very low, or in a concrete
building. Position this antenna so that
the program is heard most clearly
when tuned to an AM broadcast. The
AM loop antenna can be detached and
removed from the antenna holder so
that it can be hung on a window, wall,
etc., wherever reception is best.

2. Outdoor antenna:
When you have difficulty in receiving
AM broadcasts clearly with the AM
loop antenna, a vinyl insulated wire
longer than 15 ft. can be connected to
the AM antenna terminal and set near
a window or as high outdoors as
possible; do not disconnect the AM
loop antenna leads at this time. To
connec the AM antenna, insert the
lugs under the knurled knobs and
tighten them.
Operations
SIMPLIFIED OPERATING
PROCEDURE | -
When operating your unit for the first time,
follow these simplified instructions.
1. Set the VOLUME control to the "0"
position.
2. Set the GRAPHIC EQUALIZER controls
to the’0" positions.
3. Set the BALANCE control to its center
(click) position and the HIGH FILTER
and LOUDNESS buttons to OFF.
4. Press the POWER button to turn the
power on.
5. Select the required input source by
pressing one of the FUNCTION
buttons.
6. Select the speaker system to be used
with the SPEAKERS select buttons.
7. Start playing the source component,
and gradually turn up the volume to
the required level with the VOLUME
control.
TUNING PROCEDURES
There are three tuning methods; auto
tuning, manual tuning and preset tuning.
Auto Tuning:
First press the AUTO TUNING button (the
AUTO TUNING indicator lights) to set to
the Auto Tuning mode.
Check that the AUTO TUNING indicator is
lit and press the TUNING UP or DOWN
button. The next broadcasting station at a
higher or lower frequency is automatically
located and tuned in. During tuning,
interstation noise will be eliminated
automatically. When the upper limit
frequency in each band is reached, the
frequency displayed changes to the lower
limit frequency, then tuning starts again
upward. When the lower limit frequency is
reached, tuning restarts downward from
the top frequency.
Manual Tuning:
The Manual Tuning mode is used to tune to
Stations broadcasting weak signals.
Press the AUTO TUNING button again (so
that the AUTO TUNING indicator goes out)
to set to the Manual mode.
When the UP or DOWN TUNING button is
pressed, the frequency is changed up or
down at fixed steps in the FM and AM
band. Holding the UP or DOWN button
pressed for more than a half second
causes the frequency to change
continuously upward or downward.
Preset Tuning:
The receiver has a station preset memory
which is convenient when there are many
radio stations. Preset tuning allows you to
store the frequencies of up to 16 stations in
the STATION MEMORY buttons. Once
these frequencies have been stored in
memory, they are retained for a week even
if the power has been turned off.
Therefore, it is not necessary to re-enter
preset stations every time the power is
turned on.

Select the AM or FM band by pressing
either the AM or FM FUNCTION
button.
2. Confirm that the AUTO TUNING
indicator is lit.
3. To tune to an adjacent broadcast,
press either the UP or DOWN TUNING
button.
4. To store a station into the preset
memory, press the MEMORY button.
The MEMORY indicator will light for
approximately 5 seconds. While the
MEMORY indicator is lit, press one of
the STATION MEMORY buttons.
* For preset channels 1 through 8
Press the button momentarily, and then
release it. (The preset channel number
appears in the channel display.)
* For preset channels 9 through 16
Press the button slightly longer, and
then release it. (The preset channel
number appears in the channel display.)
To recall a preset stations, directly press
the STATION MEMORY button
corresponding to the required channel.
The group of preset channels recalled
differs depending on the time for which a
button is pressed. When a button is
pressed for less than one second, preset
channels from CH 1 through CH 8 are
recalled; when it is pressed for more than
one second, preset channels from CH 9
through CH 16 are recalled.
LISTENING TO RADIO
BROADCASTS
1, Press the POWER button to ON.
2. Select the required band by pressing
either the AM or FM FUNCTION
button.
3. Tune to the desired broadcast station
using the UP or DOWN TUNING
buttons or by pressing one of the
STATION MEMORY buttons.
4. Adjust the volume and tone as desired
using the VOLUME and GRAPHIC
EQUALIZER controls.

1. Press the POWER button to ON.
2. Press the PHONO or CD/VCR
FUNCTION button.
3. Operate the turntable or CD player to
start playback.
4. Adjust the volume and tone as desired
using the VOLUME and GRAPHIC
EQUALIZER controls.
“TAPE PLAYBACK
1, Press the TAPE/DAT MONITOR button.
2. Operate your tape deck according to
the procedure in its manual.
TAPE RECORDING
1. Set the source to be recorded: AM,
FM, PHONO, or CD/VCR.
Play back the program source.
Operate your tape deck according to
the procedure in its manual.
Note: When the TAPE/DAT MONITOR
button is set to ON, only the
tape deck can be selected and it is
impossible to listen to other sources
or record them.
Set the TAPE/DAT MONITOR button
to the ON position only when you
wish to listen to tape. Otherwise,
leave the button in the OFF position.

Memory Backup Function
The contents of the preset station
memories, the channel which was
received last and mono/stereo setting are
maintained as long as power is supplied to
the unit.
If the power plug of the receiver is
disconnected from the wall outlet or the
POWER button on the front panel is
switched OFF, the memory will be cleared
in about one week.
Remote Control Unit
The UR-200 Remote Control Unit provided
allows the receiver and the entire system
to be operated from a distance. With it,
you can control most of the functions of
the receiver and other components
included in the system from your listening
position.
When operating with the remote control
unit, point the top of the remote control
unit at the REMOTE SENSOR window of
the receiver within the effective range for
remote control operation shown in the
diagram.

Battery installation
1) Open the battery compartment cover
on the rear of the remote control unit,
as shown in the figure.
2) Insert two "AAA" (R03) batteries.
Make sure that the batteries are
installed with their position (+) and
negative (-) poles positioned correctly.
3) Replace the battery compartment
cover.

1. The RECORD button does not have to
be pressed together with another
button; pressing this one button sets
the deck to the record mode.
2. Only full-logic control cassette decks
can be operated using the TAPE | and
TAPE II buttons.
Only the pause mode of a cassette deck
with mechanical controls can be operated.

© SKIP buttons: These buttons allows
quick movement of the pickup to the
beginning of tracks (tunes) in the
forward or reverse direction.
© DISC SKIP button: Selects a disc in the
auto-changer.
@ PAUSE, PLAY/PAUSE buttons: If the
connected CD player has an
independent PAUSE button, use the
PAUSE button; if the connected CD
player has a combined PLAY/PAUSE
button, use the PLAY/PAUSE button.
© STOP button: Used to stop the CD
player.

Battery replacement
If you notice that the distance between the
remote control unit and the receiver within
which correct operation is possible
becomes shorter, it indicates that the
batteries are nearly exhausted. In this
case, replace both batteries with new
ones.
Precautions concerning batteries
© Be sure to insert the batteries with
correct positive (+) and negative (-)
polarities as indicated in the battery
compartment.
© Do not use an old battery and a new
battery atthe same time.
© Use batteries of the same type. Never
use batteries of different types

Cautions on Use of the Remote Control
Unit
© Even if the remote control unit is
operated within the effective range,
remote control operation may be

receiver and the remote control unit or
if it is outside the effective angle.
© |f the remote control unit is operated
near other appliances which generate
infrared rays, or if other remote controls
using infrared rays are used near the
receiver, it may operate incorrectly. The
opposite is also true, and other
appliances may work incorrectly.
© Do not place books or other objects on
the remote control unit as they could
press its buttons and the batteries could
become exhausted more quickly.
@ When the remote control unit is not to
be used for an extended period (more
than a month), remove its batteries to
prevent them from leaking.

Mise en place de l'appareil
Comme cet appareil incorpore un
amplificateur de puissance, il dégage de la
chaleur par l'arriére et par le haut; cet
appareil doit étre installé dans un endroit
bien aéré. Eviter l'installation od il pourrait
tre exposé a des températures élevées,
au soleil, a I'humidité et a la poussiére. Si
les cordons de raccordements sont trop
longs, en particulier ceux utilisés pour
raccorder les enceintes acoustiques, la
qualité du son peut étre dégradée. Par
conséquent, il est recommandé d'utiliser
des cordons de raccordement les plus
courts possible.

Cette commande est utilisée pour régler le
niveau des signaux sortis vers les
enceintes acoustiques et le casque
d'écoute.
En fonctionnement avec le boitier de
télécommande, appuyer sur la touche UP
pour augmenter le volume et appuyer sur
la touche DOWN pour le réduire. En méme
temps, le bouton de commande VOLUME
sur le panneau avant se déplacera comme
les touches sont pressées alors que
l'indicateur a LED dans le bouton de
commande VOLUME montrera le réglage
actuel. Quand la touche MUTING est
pressée, la LED clignotera.
@ Touches de sélection de haut-
parleurs (SPEAKERS)
Si la touche A ou B est pressée, le son est
sorti des haut-parleurs raccordés aux
bornes SPEAKERS A ou B du panneau
arriére.
Si les touches A et B sont pressées
simultanément, le circuit de son surround
incorporé est mis en service. Pour un
meilleur effet sonore surround avec une
plus grande impression de présence,
placer les haut-parleurs raccordés aux
bornes SPEAKERS A devant la position
d'écoute, et placer les haut-parleurs
raccordés aux bornes SPEAKERS B
derriére la position d‘écoute.

(PHONES)
La prise est pour le raccordement d'un
Casque d'écoute avec une fiche standard
stéréo 1/4" (6,35 mm de diamétre)
@® Commandes d'égaliseur graphique
(GRAPHIC EQUALIZER)
Ces commandes sont utilisées pour ajuster
les cing gammes de fréquence obtenues
en divisant la gamme de fréquence de 83
Hz a 12 kHz en cing.
Quand ces commandes sont déplacées
dans la direction "+", la reponse de la
gamme de fréquence correspondante est
accentuée. Si elles sont déplacées dans la
direction “-", la réponse est atténuée. Les
Caractéristiques dans chaque gamme
peuvent étre mises en valeur ou atténuées
d'un maximum de 12 dB
Remarque:
Régler sur la position "0" pour obtenir une
réponse plate.
@ Touche de filtre (HI-FILTER)
Pour réduire le bruit de sifflement haute
fréquence en écoutant n'importe quelle
source.
@® Touche de contour (LOUDNESS)
Cette touche est pour compenser la
réponse non-linéaire de |'oreille humaine a
faibles volumes. Régler ce commutateur
sur l'arrét en écoutant a des niveaux
normaux.
@ Touches de fonction et indicateurs
(FUNCTION)
Appuyer sur la touche appropriée pour
choisir la source voulue (parmi TAPE/DAT
MONITOR, CD/VCR, PHONO, AM, FM).
L'indicateur correspondant a la touche
pressée s'‘allumera quand la source est
sélectionnée.
Remarque:
Quand la touche TAPE/DAT MONITOR est
réglée sur ON, seule la platine 4 cassette
peut étre sélectionnée, et il est impossible
d'écouter d'autres sources,
Placer la touche TAPE/DAT MONITOR sur
la position ON seulement quand vous
voulez écouter une cassette. Sinon, laisser
la touche dans la position OFF.
@ Touches de mode du syntoniseur
Touche MONO/ST:
Cette touche est utilisée pour alterner le
mode de réception FM entre stéréo et
mono. Si cette touche est pressée sur ON
pendant la réception d'une émission FM
stéréo, l'indicateur STEREO s‘éteint et
l'émission FM sera regue en mono. Il peut
&tre difficile de recevoir clairement une
émission stéréo dans des régions ou les
signaux sont faibles et la réception bruitée.
Dans un tel cas, régler cette touche sur

ON pour réduire le bruit. Pour recevoir a
nouveau des émissions FM en stéréo,
appuyer sur cette touche pour revenir
dans le mode stéréo (pour que l'indicateur
STEREO s'‘allume).
Touche de syntonisation automatique
(AUTO TUNING)
Cette touche est utilisée pour alterner
entre les modes de syntonisation AUTO et
MANUAL.
Touche de mémoire (MEMORY)
D'abord syntoniser la station dont la
fréquence est 4 mémoriser, et appuyer sur
cette touche. Puis, alors que l'indicateur
MEMORY est allumé (pendant environ cing
secondes), appuyer sur une des touches
STATION MEMORY. La fréquence sera
mémorisée dans la mémoire de préréglage
correspondant a la touche pressée.
@® Touches de syntonisation
(TUNING)
Ces touches sont utilisées pour syntoniser
des émissions en modes de syntonisation
automatique (AUTO) et manuelle
(MANUAL).
Dans un mode ou l'autre, quand la
fréquence limite supérieure est atteinte, la
fréquence passe a la fréquence limite la
plus basse, puis la syntonisation reprend
vers des fréquences plus élevées. Quand
la fréquence limite inférieure est atteinte,
la syntonisation reprend a partir de la
fréquence supérieure.
@® Commande de balance (BALANCE)
Cette commande est utilisée pour ajuster
la balance entre les haut-parleurs gauche
et droit. Normalement régler sur la position
centrale (a déclic).
PANNEAU ARRIERE
@ Bornes d'antenne FM (FM
ANTENNA)
Les fils des deux types d'antenne FM
peuvent étre raccordés a ces bornes;
d'une antenne symétrique de 300 ohms ou
asymétrique de 75 ohms.
En utilisant une antenne FM symétrique de
300 ohms, serrer les fils sous les bornes
d'antenne FM de droite et du milieu
(marquées “300 ohm"). En utilisant une
antenne FM asymétrique de 75 ohms,
mettre les fils sous les bornes d'antenne
FM de gauche et du milieu (marquées "75
ohm’).
@ Borne d'antenne AM (AM
ANTENNA)
Deux fils sont nécessaires pour le
raccordement d'une antenne AM
extérieure. D'abord, raccorder un fil entre
l‘antenne AM et un fil d'antenne horizontal
avec une longueur de 7,5 m a 23 m
suspendu entre des isolateurs a l'extérieur
(le plus haut est le mieux). Ensuite,

raccorder le second fil entre la borne de
masse (GND) de votre appareil et une
bonne terre.
@ Borne de masse (GND)
Raccorder le fil de masse de la platine
tourne-disque a cette borne.
® Prises d'entrée PHONO
Raccorder une platine tourne-disque avec
une cartouche a aimant mobile (MM) a ces
prises. Si du ronflement se produit en
lisant des disques, la platine tourne-disque
n'est pas mise correctement a la masse.
Dans ce cas, raccorder le fil de masse de
la platine tourne-disque a la borne GND.
® Prises d'entrée CD/VCR
Ces prises sont utilisées pour le
raccordement d'une source de signal de
haut niveau supplémentaire tel un lecteur
de disque compact, une platine a cassette.
Elles acceptent également le signal audio
d'un magnétoscope, téléviseur, etc.
® Prises TAPE/DAT (PLAY/REC)
Ces prises sont utilisées pour le
raccordement d'une platine a cassette (ou
d'un autre appareil d'enregistrement).
Raccorder les prises de sortie (LINE OUT)
de la platine 4 cassette aux prises PLAY et
raccorder les prises d'entrée (LINE IN) de
la platine aux prises REC.
® Bornes de haut-parleurs
(SPEAKERS)
Deux paires de haut-parleurs peuvent étre
raccordées a ces bornes. Raccorder la
paire principale aux bornes du systéme A,
et raccorder la seconde paire aux bornes
du systéme B. Vous pouvez sélectionner
systéme A et/ou B avec les touches de
sélection SPEAKERS du panneau avant. Si
les systémes A et B sont utilisés
simultanément, un effet sonore surround
peut étre obtenu.
Raccorder les cables de haut-parleur aux
bornes de haut-parleurs A/B comme
montré dans le schéma.
* Appuyer sur la touche, introduire
l'extrémité dénudée du fil, puis relacher
la touche pour que le fil soit maintenu
fermement.
@ Prises CA (AC OUTLETS)
SWITCHED: L'alimentation fournie a
cette prise sera mise et

performance fixée au panneau arriére par
une charniére intercalaire. La faire pivoter
pour une meilleure réception AM. Pour
une réception AM améliorée, retirer
l'antenne de la charniére et I'accrocher au
mur.
Raccordement de l'antenne cadre AM
Raccorder fermement les fils d'antenne
cadre entre les bornes ANTENNA AM et
GND de cet appareil. (Voir I'illustration de
la page 12.)
® Bornes de télécommande
(REMOTE CONTROL)
Ces bornes sont utilisées pour relier des
appareils TEAC avec une marque “UR”.
Voir “Raccordements du cable de
télécommande" a la page 4.
@ Cordon secteur
La tension correcte pour le
fonctionnement de votre appareil est
imprimée sur le panneau arriére.
BOITIER DE TELECOMMANDE
@ Touche de silencieux (MUTING)
Appuyer sur cette touche pour réduire
immédiatement le niveau de volume des
haut-parleurs ou du casque. Si cette
touche est pressée, le niveau de sortie
sera réduit de 20 dB. Pour revenir au
niveau de sortie original, appuyer a
nouveau.
@ Touche de balayage de mémoire
(MEMORY SCAN)
Quand cette touche est pressée, les
fréquences de préréglage mises en
mémoire pour la gamme sélectionnée (AM
==
ou FM) seront balayées dans l'ordre
croissant a des intervalles de 5 secondes.
Pour libérer cette fonction, appuyer sur
une des touches AM, FM, MEMORY,
STATION MEMORY ou TUNING UP/DOWN.
® Touche de saut mémoire
(MEMORY SKIP)
A chaque pression sur cette touche, la
syntonisation saute a la fréquence de
préréglage la plus élevée suivante stockée
en mémoire pour la gamme sélectionnée.
Antennes pour une réception optimale
Antenne FM
Si le récepteur est utilisé dans une région
avec des signaux FM forts, une antenne de
type "T* (dipéle) peut fournir un signal
suffisamment fort. Pour raccorder cette
antenne, relier les fils sur les bornes 300
ohms, étendre complétement les sections
supérieures du "T" et les positionner pour
la meilleure réception possible en
syntonisant une émission.
Dans une région a faible signal, l'utilisation
d'une antenne FM sur le toit est
recommandée. Une antenne a 3 éléments
est généralement suffisante pour des
distances moyennes; mais une antenne a5
éléments ou plus peut étre nécessaire
pour des distances plus grandes et dans
les régions frontiéres.
Deux types d'antenne extérieure sont
disponibles: des antennes symétriques de
300 ohms et asymétriques de 75 ohms. Les
antennes 300 ohms utilisent un cable plat a
deux fils, comme pour une antenne TV
standard. Les antennes 75 ohms utilisent
un cable coaxial et sont recommandées
pour l'utilisation dans des zones sujettes a
des interférences, comme prés d'une
route ou le bruit d'allumage des voitures
est un probléme. Aprés |'installation d'une
antenne de toit, vérifier qu'elle est dirigée
dans la direction de réception de la plupart
des stations.
Raccordement d‘antenne FM
Pour raccorder les fils d'une antenne 300
ohms, introduire les cosses sous les
bornes marquées "300 ohm’.
Pour installer un cable coaxial 75 ohms,
dénuder d'abord le revétement du cable,
puis dégager la tresse de blindage pour
qu'elle puisse venir en contact avec
l‘agrafe alors que |'ame est serrée sous
l'autre borne d'antenne FM "75 ohm",
comme montré dans la figure 4 la page
suivante.

1. Antenne cadre AM:
Dans les régions oi les signaux sont forts
ou prés des stations émettrices, |'antenne
cadre AM sur le panneau arriére peut étre
suffisante. Cette antenne est efficace sauf
dans les régions ol le signal est trés faible,
ou dans un immeuble en béton. Positioner
cette antenne pour que le programme
s'entende le plus clairement possible lors
de la syntonisation d'une émission AM.
L'antenne cadre AM peut étre détachée et
retirée de son support pour étre pendue a
une fenétre, un mur, etc., la ol la réception
est la meilleure.
Antenne cadre AM
2. Antenne extérieure:
Si vous avez des difficultés pour recevoir
clairement des émissions AM avec
l'antenne cadre AM, un fil électrique isolé
de plus de 5 métres peut étre raccordé a la
borne d‘antenne AM et placé prés d'une
fenétre ou a l'extérieur le plus haut
possible; ne pas débrancher les fils de
l'antenne cadre AM. Pour raccorder
l'antenne AM, introduire les cosses sous
les boutons moletés et les serrer.
Fonctionnement
PROCEDURE DE FONCTIONNEMENT
SIMPLIFIE
En faisant fonctionner votre appareil pour
la premiére fois, suivre ces instructions
simplifiées.
1. Placer la commande VOLUME sur la
position "0".
2. Placer les commandes GRAPHIC
EQUALIZER sur les positions "0".
3. Placer la commande BALANCE sur sa
position centrale (a déclic) et les
touches HIGH FILTER et LOUDNESS
sur OFF.
4. Appuyer sur la touche POWER pour
mettre l'alimentation.
5. Sélectionner la source d'entrée voulue
en appuyant sur une des touches
FUNCTION.
6. Sélectionner le systéme de haut-
parleurs a utiliser avec les touches de
sélection SPEAKERS.
7. Lancer la lecture de l'appareil source,
et augmenter progressivement le
volume au niveau voulu avec la
commande VOLUME.
PROCEDURES DE SYNTONISATION
ll y a trois méthodes de syntonisation;
syntonisation automatique, syntonisation
manuelle et syntonisation préréglée.
Syntonisation automatique:
Appuyer d'abord sur la touche AUTO
TUNING (I'indicateur AUTO TUNING
s'allume) pour passer en mode de
syntonisation automatique.
Vérifier que l'indicateur AUTO TUNING est
allumé et appuyer sur la touche TUNING
UP ou DOWN. La station suivante émettant
sur une fréquence supérieure ou inférieure
est automatiquement localisée et
syntonisée. Pendant la syntonisation, le
bruit inter-station sera automatiquement
éliminé. Quand la fréquence limite
supérieure dans chaque gamme est
atteinte, la fréquence affichée passe a la
fréquence limite inférieure, puis la
syntonisation reprend vers des fréquences
plus élevées. Quand la fréquence limite
inférieure est atteinte, la syntonisation
reprend en descendant a partir de la
fréquence supérieure.
Syntonisation manuelle:
Le mode de syntonisation manuelle est
utilisé pour syntoniser des stations
émettant des signaux faibles.
Appuyer a nouveau sur la touche AUTO
TUNING (pour que l|'indicateur AUTO
TUNING s'‘éteigne) pour passer en mode
de syntonisation manuelle.
Quand la touche TUNING UP ou DOWN est
pressée, la fréquence augmente ou
diminue par paliers fixes dans la gamme
FM et AM. Une pression continue de plus
d'une demi-seconde sur la touche UP ou
DOWN fait changer la fréquence de fagon
continue vers le haut ou le bas.
Syntonisation préréglée:
Le récepteur a une mémoire de préréglage
de station qui est commode quand il y a
beaucoup de stations radio. La

syntonisation préréglée vous permet de
stocker les fréquences de jusqu'a 16
stations dans les touches STATION
MEMORY. Une fois que ces fréquences ont
été mémorisées, elles sont maintenues
pendant une semaine méme_ si
l‘alimentation a été coupée. Par
conséquent, il n'est pas nécessaire de
rentrer de nouveau les stations préréglées
a chaque fois que I'alimentation est mise.
Réglage de la mémoire de préréglage
1. Sélectionner la gamme AM ou FM en
appuyant sur la touche FUNCTION AM
ou FM.
2. Confirmer que l'indicateur AUTO
TUNING est allumé.
3. Pour syntoniser une émission
adjacente, appuyer sur la touche
TUNING UP ou DOWN.
4. Pour mémoriser une station dans la
mémoire de préréglage, appuyer sur la
touche MEMORY. L'indicateur
MEMORY s‘allumera pendant environ
5 secondes. Pendant que l'indicateur
MEMORY est allumé, appuyer sur une
des touches STATION MEMORY.
* Pour les canaux préréglés 148
Appuyer sur la touche momentanément,
puis la relacher. (Le numéro de canal
préréglé apparait sur l'affichage des
canaux.)
* Pour les canaux préréglés 9 a 16
Appuyer sur la touche légérement plus

canaux préréglés CH 1 a CH 8 sont

plus d'une seconde, les canaux préréglés
CH 9a CH 16 sont rappelés.

Presser la touche POWER sur ON.

Fonction de maintien mémoire
Le contenu de la mémoire des stations
préréglées, le canal regu en dernier et le
réglage mono/stéréo sont maintenus aussi
longtemps que |'alimentation est fournie a

Si la fiche d'alimentation du récepteur est
débranchée de la prise secteur ou si la
touche POWER sur le panneau avant est
mise sur OFF, la mémoire sera effacée
environ au bout d'une semaine.
Boitier de telecommande
Le boitier de télecommande UR-200 fourni
permet la commande a distance du
récepteur et de la chaine compléte. Avec
lui, vous pouvez commander la plupart des
fonctions du récepteur et des autres
appareils de la chaine a partir de votre
position d'écoute.
Pour l'utilisation du boitier de
télécommande, diriger le haut du boitier
vers la fenétre REMOTE SENSOR du
récepteur dans la gamme effective pour le
fonctionnement par télécommande
montrée dans le schéma.

Remplacement des piles
Si vous remarquez que la distance entre le
boitier de télécommande et le récepteur
devient plus courte pour un
fonctionnement correct, ceci indique que
les piles sont presque usées. Dans ce cas,
remplacer les deux piles par des neuves.
Précautions a observer concernant les
piles
© Bien introduire les piles en respectant
les polarités plus (+) et moins {-) comme
indiqué dans le compartiment des piles.
@ Ne pas utiliser ensemble une pile usée
avec une pile neuve.
© Utiliser des piles du méme type. Ne
jamais utiliser ensemble des piles de
types différents, méme si elles ont la
méme forme.

Précautions sur l'utilisation de la
télécommande
© Méme si le boitier de télécommande est
activé dans la zone de fonctionnement,
le fonctionnement par télécommande
peut étre impossible si il y a des
obstacles entre le récepteur et le boitier
de télécommande ou s'il est a
l'extérieur de langle effectif.
@ Si le boitier de télécommande
fonctionne prés d'autres appareils
générant des rayons infrarouges, ou si
d’autres télécommandes utilisant des
rayons infrarouges sont utilisés prés du
récepteur, il peut ne pas bien
fonctionner. L'inverse est également
possible, et d'autres appareils peuvent
ne pas fonctionner correctement.
e@ Ne pas placer de livres ou d'autres
objets sur le boitier de télécommande,
ils risquent d'appuyer sur les touches et
ainsi d'user les piles plus rapidement.
© Si le boitier de télecommande n'est pas
utilisé pendant une longue période (plus
d'un mois), retirer les piles du boitier
pour éviter des fuites de pile.
Si elles coulent, essuyer le liquide dans
le compartiment des piles et remplacer
les piles par des neuves.
