1. Introduction
ThisOnline R/TSeries isan uninterruptiblepower supply
incorporating double-conversion technology.It providesperfect
protectionspecificallyforcomputerequipment,communication
systemsto computerized instruments.Itprotectsyour sensitive
electronic equipment frombasicpower problemssuch aspower
failures,powersags, power surges,brownout,and line noise.
Power outagescan occurwhen you least expectthemandpower
qualitycan be erratic.Thesepowerproblemshave thepotential to
corruptcritical data,destroyunsaved worksessions, anddamage
hardware causinghours oflost productivity andexpensive
repairs.

2. SafetyWarnings
IMPORTANTSAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOREACHSTEPSAVE
THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
2.1Installation
lCondensation mayoccurifthe UPSismoveddirectlyfroma
coldtoawarmenvironment. TheUPS must be absolutelydry
before being installed. Pleaseallowan acclimatization timeof
at leasttwohours.
lDo not install the UPS near wateror in damp environment.
lDo not install the UPSwhere it would beexposed to direct
sunlight or nearheat.
lDo not blockventilation openingsin the UPS’shousing.
lPlace cablesin such a way that no one can step on or trip over
them.
lUPS hasprovided earthedterminal, in the final installed system
configuration, equipotentearth bonding tothe external UPS
batterycabinets.
lAn integral single emergencyswitching devicewhich prevents
furthersupplytothe loadbytheUPS in anyoperation mode
shouldbe providedin the building wiring installation.
lAn appropriate disconnectdevice asshort-circuitbackup
protection should be provided in the building wiring installation.
lForthe equipmentconnectionto an ITpowersystem,a
two-pole device which disconnectphase conductors and the

neutral conductor haveto be provided in the building wiring
installation.
lThisis permanentlyconnected equipment,it must be installed
by qualified maintenance personnel.
lFor permanentlyconnected equipment: makesure that a
readilyaccessible disconnect device is incorporated in the
building installation wiring.
Toreduce therisk offire, connectonlyto a circuit provided with
branchcircuit overcurrentprotection with anampere ratingin
accordancewiththe IEC/EN60934 standard or your local
electrical code and have a contactair gapofat least 3mm.

lYou can connect four extended batterymodulesto the
uninterruptible powersupply.
lEarthing connection isessential before connecting tothe
building wiring terminal.
2.2Operation
lDo notdisconnectthe earth conductorcablefromthe UPS or
the building wiring terminals in anytimesince this would cancel
the protective earthingofthe UPS systemand all connected
loads.
lThe UPS output terminal block maybe electrically active even if
the UPS systemis not connectedtothebuilding wiring
terminal.
lIn order to completelydisconnecttheUPS, firstly press the
OFF button, andthen disconnect the mains lead.

lEnsure thatnoliquid or otherforeign objectscanenter the
UPS.
lThe UPScanbeoperated byanyindividual withoutprevious
experience.
2.3Maintenance,servicing and faults
lThe UPSoperateswith hazardousvoltages. Maintenance
shouldbe carriedout onlybyqualified maintenance personnel.
lCaution -risk ofelectricshock.Evenafterthe unitis
disconnected fromthe mainspowersupply(building wiring
terminal),components inside the UPSare still connected to the
batterywhich have potentiallydangerous.
lBeforecarrying out anykindofserviceand/or maintenance,
pleasedisconnect the batteries. Verifythatno current is
present and no hazardousvoltage exist in the capacitororBUS
capacitor terminals.
lBatteriesmustbe replaced only by qualified personnel.
lCaution –the riskofelectricshock.The batterycircuit is not
isolated fromthe input voltage.Hazardousvoltage mayoccur
between the batteryterminalsand the ground. Verifythat no
voltage is present beforeservicing!
lBatterieshave ahigh short-circuitcurrentand pose ariskof
shock. Takeall precautionary measuresspecified asbelow and
anyother measuresnecessarywhen workingwith batteries:
1) Removeall jewellery,wristwatches, rings and othermetal
objects
2) Useonly tools with insulated grips andhandles.
3) When changing batteries,replace with the samequantity
and thesame type ofbatteries.
4) Do not attempt todispose ofbatteriesbyburning them.It
couldcause explosion.

5) Do not open or destroybatteries.Effluentelectrolyte can
cause injuryto the skin and eyes.It maybe toxic.
lPlease replace thefuseonlywiththe sametype and ofthe
same amperage in orderto avoid fire hazards.
lDo not dismantle the UPS, exceptthequalified maintenance
personnel.
2.4Transport
lPlease transport the UPS onlyin the original packaging (to
protect against shock and impact).
2.5Storage
lThe UPS mustbe stockpiled inthe roomwhere is ventilated
and dry.

3.1Inspecting the Equipment
Ifanyequipmenthasbeen damagedduringshipment,keep the
shipping cartonsand packing materials forthecarrierorplace of
purchase andfile aclaimforshipping damage.Ifyou discover
damageafteracceptance,file aclaimforconcealeddamage.
Note: Check the batteryrechargedateon the shipping carton label.
Ifthedatehaspassed and the batterieswere neverrecharged,do
notuse the UPS. Contactyour servicerepresentative.
3.2Unpacking thecarton
CAUTION: Ifthe carton unpacks in alow-temperatureof
environment itmaycause condensation ofmoisture in or onthe
cabinet ofUPS. Do not install the UPS until the inside andoutside of
the cabinet isabsolutelydryto preventhazardofelectricshock.
CAUTION: Thecabinetisheavy.Referfollowinginstruction to
unpackandmove the cabinet frompackingcarton.
Be careful whenmovingand opening the carton. The unpacking
steps are shown as below:

Step 1:
Open the outer cartonand remove the accessoriesout ofthe
carton (seeFigure 3-1&3-2).

Step 2:
Withone persononeachside,carefullyliftthe cabinetout ofthe
outer carton usingthe handles on the cardboard and set it onaflat,
stable surface (see Figure3-3&3-4).
Placethe cabinet in aprotected area that hasadequateairflow and
is free ofhumidity, flammable gas, and corrosion.
Liftingthe Cabinet:

CAUTION:
The cabinet is heavy.Lifting the cabinet out of the cartonrequired
two persons atleast.

Step 3:
Discard or recycle the packaging in a responsiblemanner, orstore
itforfuture use.

3.4UPS Front Panel
Thissection showsthe front panel ofthe Online R/TUPS. The Online
serieshave the sameLCD panel and the same control button.

3.5Rackmount Setup
CAUTION:
Thecabinetis heavy,so:
1) Remove the batterytray fromthe UPSbefore lifting.
2) Lifting the cabinetsintothe rackrequiresaminimumoftwo
people.
CAUTION: Removingthe batteriesrequiered precautions,which
should beperformed orsupervised by personnel with knowledgeof
batteries . Keep unauthorized personnel awayfrombatteries.
CAUTION: Ifinstalling anEBM(ExtendedBatteryModule), install
the EBMdirectlybelowtheUPS.
3.5.1 Installthe UPS and EBM(Extended BatteryModules) in
arack:
1. Open the frontpanel andput it above the UPS.

2.Remove the batteryprotection plate:

3. Pull the batterytrayoutusing theplastic tabsand then remove
the battery tray.

4.Install the PDU’s ears tothe UPS

5.Select the properholesintherail forpositioningthe cabinetin
the desiredlocation in therack.Locate the rails at the bottom of
the 3U(3U/6K,5U/10K) spaceallocated forthe each UPSand
EBM.
6. Install the sliding rails in the rack,then installthe UPS in the
sliding rail.

7. For 10K---Installthe batterypack and batteryprotectionplate,
then fixthe frontpanel.

8.For 6K---Install the batterytray, and connect the internal battery
connector, then fixthe protection plate and thefront panel.
9.Ifinstalling additional UPSs,repeat fromStep1toStep 8for
each cabinet.
3.5.2 Installing the EBMs
Note: Alittle ofarcing may occurwhen connecting an EBMtothe
UPS. Thatis normalandnotharmed.Plugthe EBM cable intothe
UPS batteryconnector quicklyand firmly.
