Use
the
stereo
phono
cable
to
connect
the
turntable
to
your
amp
or
receiver.
Be
sure
that
the
white
plugs
are
connected
to
the
left
channel
jacks
and
the
red
plugs
are
connected
to
the
right
channel
jacks.
Plug
the
ground
wire
into
the
turntable’s
ground
jack
and
connect
the
wire’s
spade
plug
to
the
amp
or
receiver's
ground
(GND)
screw.
Regarding
the
AC
cord,
plug
the
female
end
into
the
turntable
AC
jack
and
plug
the
other
end
into
an
AC
wall
socket.

Note
that
hum
may
occur
if
you
neglect
to
connect
the
ground
wire.

selector

screw-
driver
so
that
it
corresponds

the
turntable
platter
1.
Place
the
platter
on
the
center
spindle.
2.
Holding
the
belt
by
the
ribbon,
fit
the
belt
over
the
capstan.
Then
remove
the
ribbon.

Place
the
turntable
mat
on
the
platter.
Note:
After
placing
the
mat
on
the
platter,
turn
the
platier
clockwise
about
ten
full
rotations
by
hand.
This
is
necessary
to
assure
correct
operation
of
the
automatic mechanism.
About
stylus
pressure
(tracking
force)
The
tracking
force
is
already
set
to
1.25
g
so
no
adjustment
is
necessary.

When
records
with
a
high
modulation
level
are
played
or
when
the
turntable
is
used
where
the
temperature
is
low
or
in
a
location
subject
to
vibrations,
sound
may
be
distorted
and
the
stylus
may
skip.
If
this
occurs,
rotate
the
stylus-pressure
adjustment
knob
at
the
rear
to
the
‘4
5’
setting.

If
the
knob
is
set
to
‘'1.0”’
the
tracking
force
will
be
lighter.

Adjusting
the
anti-skating
control
(Fig.
6)
This
is
set
to
the
same
level
as
the
tracking
force
(1.25);
there
is
no
need
to
adjust
it
yourself.
However,
if
the
index
mark
()
is
off
center,
reset
it
to
the
proper
position.
If
the
tracking
force
is
set
to
1.5
g,
the
anti-skating
control
also
must
be
set
to
‘‘1.5”’.

Attaching
the
dust
cover
(Fig.

Hold
both
sides
of
the
cover
and
lower
it
into
the
hinge
slots.
To
remove
the
cover,
open
it
and
pull
upward.
Note:
Opening
or
closing
the
cover
during
play
may
cause
vibrations
and
groove
skipping.
if
you
must
open
the
cover
during
play,
do
so
very
gently.

Placement
Place
the
unit
in
a
stable
and
horizontal
position
where
there
is
little
or
no
vibration.
Place
the
unit
away
from
the
speakers
so
that
it
will
be
subject
to
as
little
direct
sound
radiation
as
possible.
Do
not
place
the
unit
where
it
will
be
exposed
to
direct
sunlight,
dust,
moisture
or
heat.
Place it in a well ventilated location.

Put a record on the turntable mat.
. If the cartridge has a detachable stylus protector,
remove it.
. Release the arm clamp.
. Set the speed selector to the correct speed. (Fig. 8)
. Set the cueing control to the ‘¥”’ position.

. Move the tonearm over the record.
The strobe-illuminator/pilot lamp will light up and the
platter will rotate.
Set the cueing control to the ‘“‘W”’ position. (Fig. 10)
The tonearm will descend and play will begin.
At the end of the record, the tonearm will automatically
return to the arm rest and the turntable will stop.
Stopping the turntable
Push the stop:switch. (Fig. 11)
The
tonearm

This will make the tonearm rise off the record.

The
arm-lift-height
(distance
between
the
stylus
tip
and
the
record
surface
when
the
cueing
control
is
at
the
“¥”
position)
has
been
adjusted
at
the
factory
to
approximately
5
to
8
mm
(3/16’'~5/16’’).

If
the
clearance
is
too
narrow
or
too
wide,
turn
the
adjust-
ment
screw
clockwise
or
counterclockwise.

There

strobe-lines
cut

this
turntable
platter
to
indicate correct rotational speed.
If
the
strobe-line
appears
to
be
moving
as
the
turntable
rotates, adjust while playing a record.

the

selector
to
the
speed
to
be
adjusted.

Watch
the
dot
pattern
on
the
side
of
the
platter.
Turn
the
pitch
control
one
way
or
the
other
until
the
dots
appear
to
stand
still.
This
is
the
correct
speed.
3.
Turning
the
pitch
control
in
the
‘+’?
direction
increases
the
speed.
4,
Turning
the
pitch
control
in
the
‘““—”
direction
decreases
the
speed.
Note:
Strobe dot pattern
This
unit's
strobe
illuminator
operates
at
the
AC
line
frequency
which
generally
has
a
0.2%
fluctuation.
This
fluctuation,
when
present,
may
make
the
strobe
pattern
appear
to
change.
However,
actual
turntable
speed
does
not
change,
because
the
DC
motor
is
not
affected
by
AC
power
line
frequency.

Stylus replacement
The replacement stylus for this cartridge is EPS-24CS.
Stylus life varies with the conditions of use.
Noise or scratchiness may indicate a worn or damaged stylus.
Stylus replacement is recommended after about 1000 hours of
playing time. Holding the sides of the stylus assembly, pull out
to remove the old stylus. Line up the new stylus assembly with
the cartridge and push in firmly so that the stylus is securely in
place. (Fig. 18)
Notes:
@Be very careful not to touch the stylus tip or cantilever
during above procedures.
e@There should be no gap between the stylus assembly
and the cartridge body.
Cartridge replacement
Plug-in connector cartridges are now available from
Ortofon (Denmark), Shure (U.S.A.), Audio Technica
(Japan) as well as from Technics. All of these cartridges are
designed for perfect matching with this turntable in all areas
including weight, tracking force, stylus tip position, and
center of gravity. Therefore, you have the option of
employing a wide range of cartridges from the world’s top
manufacturers without the trouble of lead wire connections
or tracking force adjustment.
1, Attach the tonearm'o the arm rest with the tonearm clamp.
2. Remove the cartridge attachment screw. (Fig. 19)
3. Carefully pull the cartridge out from the tonearm being sure
you don’t touch the stylus. (Fig. 26)
4. Align the pins on the new cartridge with the tonearm
connector and plug it into the tonearm as far as it will go.
5. Tighten the cartridge attachment screw.
Notes and maintenance
™ Do not touch or hold the tonearm during automatic
operation.
@ Carefully remove dust and dirt from records and stylus.
(Fig. 21)
Dust and dirt degrade sound quality and cause excessive
wear of the stylus and grooves.
@ Wipe the dust cover and turntable base with a soft, dry
cloth.
Never use volatile cleaners such as alcohol, benzine or
thinner.
Do not use chemically treated dust cloths. Do not expose the
cover to insecticide spray.
To remove stubborn spots, first pull out the AC plug and
detach the cover.
Then wipe the cover with a soft cloth slightly moistened with
a mild soap and water solution.
Do not wipe the cover during play, or the tonearm may be
attracted toward the cover due to the generation of static
electricity.
@ Transporting and shipping the turntable
Pack the unit in the reverse order from unpacking. Use the
original packing material if possible. Otherwise, take these
steps:
eRemove the platter and mat and wrap them.
@Tape or tie the tonearm to the arm rest so it cannot shake
free.
Wrap the turntable base with a blanket or soft paper to
avoid scratches or damage.
@ Howto remove and install the turntable platter
The belt is connected to the capstan and the inner drive rim
of the platter.
Before removing the platter, release the belt from the
capstan.
When reinstalling the platter, lower it over the turntable
shaft and then put the belt onto the capstan.
Note:
Be careful not to let oil or grease contact the belt.
If grease inadvertently contacts the belt, disconnect the
AC power plug first and wipe the belt clean with alcohol.

Suggestions for safety
Before using this unit, be sure to read applicable items of
the operating instructions and these safety suggestions
carefully; and afterwards keep them handy for future
reference. Take special care to follow the warnings
indicated on the unit itself as well as in the operating
instructions.

Avoid places where there is water or humidity.
Do not use this unit near a bathtub, washbasin, swimming
pool, or the like. Damp basements should also be avoided.
. Do not allow water or any foreign object to get inside
this unit.
Do not place small metal objects or anything containing
liquid on or near the unit.
. Avoid placement of the unit where it will be exposed to
the direct rays of the sun, or where ventilation is
inadequate.
Do not place this unit in a bookcase or between cabinets, or
where curtains or furniture may obstruct the ventilation
holes.
. Place this unit away from heat-emitting appliances.
Never place this unit near a radiator, heat register, stove,
or any other heat-emitting equipment (including
amplifiers).
. Placement
Place the unit on a stable, vibration-free, level shelf or
stand.
. Use of acart or stand.
When deciding on a cart or stand, be sure to use only with
the cart or stand recommended by the manufacturer.
. Wall or ceiling installation.
If the unit is to be mounted on a wall or ceiling, be sure to do
so only as recommended by the manufacturer.
. Check the voltage rating of this unit before connecting
the unit to a power supply.
Be sure to connect the unit only to the type of power supply
indicated in the operating instructions, or as indicated on
the unit itself.
. Care of the power cord and piug.
Take care that the cord is not bent sharply (especially near
its connection to the unit or near the plug), that nothing is
placed on it, and that it is not pinched or crushed. Never
take hold of the plug or cord if your hand is wet, and always
be sure to grasp the plug body when connecting or
disconnecting it.
If the unit will not be used for a long period of time:
Be sure to disconnect the power cord.
Maintenance
Refer to the operating instructions for details.
Never attempt repairs yourself:
(a) If the power cord or plug is damaged.
(b) If a foreign object or liquid falls into the unit.
(c) If the unit is exposed to rain.
(d) !f the unit does not function normally, or if operation
shows an unusual change.
(e) If the unit has been dropped and the cabinet or chassis
are damaged... etc.
Unplug the power cord and consult with a qualified
technician (or the dealer from whom the unit was pur-
chased or the nearest servicenter).
Repairs
Except for adjustments explained in the operating
. instructions, do not attempt any repairs yourself. Be sure to
request service from a qualified technician (or your dealer
or nearest servicenter).

Raccordements
Utiliser un cable phono stéréo pour brancher le tourne-disque
a votre amplificateur ou a votre récepteur. S’assurer que les
fiches blanches soient raccordées aux jacks des canaux de
gauche et que les fiches rouges le soient aux jacks des canaux
de droite. Enficher le fil de mise ala terre dans le jack de mise a
la masse du tourne-disque et raccorder les cosses des fils ala
vis audio (GND) de |’amplificateur ou du récepteur. En ce qui
concerne le cable C.A., enficher l’extrémité femelle dans le
jack C.A. du tourne-disque et enficher |’autre extrémité dans
une prise murale C.A. (Fig. 2)
ll est & noter qu’un ronflement risquera de se p~oduire si vous
omettez de raccorder le fil de mise ala terre.
l@ Enficher dans la fiche secteur
Enficher ja fiche secteur C.A. dans une prise murale de
secteur alternatif.
Attention:
Ne jamais enficher dans une prise de courant continu.
Avant d’enficher la fiche secteur C.A., s'assurer que le
sélecteur de tension de ligne corresponde bien a votre
secteur local.
Si la tension pré-sélectionnée est différente de celle de
votre secteur, tourner je sélecteur de tension de ligne
courant alternatif avec un tournevis, de fagon ace qu'elle
corresponde a votre tension secteur.
Le sélecteur de tension de ligne C.A. est situé sous le
plateau de lecture. (Fig. 2)
@ Mise en place du plateau de lecture
1. Placer le plateau de lecture sur le pivot central.
2. Tout en maintenant la courroie avec le ruban, ajuster la
courroie sur le cabestan. Puis, retirer le ruban. (Fig. 3)
3. Placer le tapis du plateau sur le plateau.
Nota:
Aprés avoir placé le tapis sur le plateau, tourner a peu
prés une dizaine de fois ala main le plateau dans le sens
des aiguilles d’une montre.
Ceci est nécessaire pour assurer un fonctionnement
correct du mécanisme automatique.
Reglage de la force
verticale d’appui de la
pointe de lecture
(force d’alignement)
La force verticale d’appui de la pointe de lecture a déja été
réglée sur 1,25 g; aussi, une mise au pont n’est-elle pas
nécessaire. (Fig. 4)
Lorsque l’on fait jouer des disques ayant un niveau de
modulation élevé ou lorsque le tourne-disque est utilisé dans
un endroit ot la température est basse ou sujet a des
vibrations, le son pourra étre déformé et la pointe de lecture
risquera de sautiller. Si cela se produisait, tourner le bouton
situé al’arriére sur le réglage de ‘‘1,5’’. (Fig. 5) Sile bouton est
régié sur ‘1,0’, la force verticale d’appui sera plus légére.
@ Mise au point de la commande antipatinage
(Fig. 6)
Ceci est réglé sur le méme niveau que la foruce verticale
d’appui (1,25); iln’est donc pas nécesaire de |’ajuster vous-
méme. Toutefois, si !a marque du repére (w) est en dehors
du centre, la régler 4 nouveau sur la position appropriée.
Sila force verticale d’appui de la pointe de lecture est réglée
sur 1,5g, le réglage de l’antipatinage devra étre aussi réglé
sur‘‘1,5”.

Installation
du
couvercie
anti-poussiéres
(Fig.
7)
Tenir
les
deux
cétés
du
couvercle
et
l’abaisser
dans
les
encoches
des
charniéres.
Pour
retirer
le
couvercle,
l’ouvrir
et
le
soulever.
Nota:
L’ouverture ou la fermeture du couvercle pendant
l’'audition risque de provoquer des vibrations et un
sautillement des sillons.
Si vous devez ouvrir le couvercle pendant une audition,
opérez aussi doucement que possible.
Installation de l’appareil
@ Utiliser la platine dans une position stable et horizon-
tale, non ou trés peu sujette a des vibrations.
@ Placer l'appareil aussi loin que possible des haut-
parleurs, de fagon a ce qu’il ne soit pas soumis @ des
vibrations sonores directes.
@
Nepas

aux

du
soleil,

la
poussiére,

ou

@ Réglage de la vitesse (commande d’écart)

ll y a des lignes stroboscopiques sur ce plateau de tourne-
disque pour indiquer ja vitesse rotationnelle correcte.
Si la ligne stroboscopique semble se déplacer comme
lorsque la platine tourne, ajuster en faisant jouer un disque.
1. Régler le sélecteur de vitesse sur la vitesse devant étre
mise au point.

2. Observer l'image des points sur le cété du plateau.
Tourner la commande d’écart dans un sens ou dans
l'autre jusqu’a ce que les points apparaissent immobiles.
Cela représentera la vitesse exacte.
3. En tournant la commande d’écart dans la direction “+”
on augmente la vitesse.
4, En tournant la commande d’écart dans la direction “—’’
on diminue la vitesse.
Nota:
Image des points stroboscopiques
L’illuminométre stroboscopique de l’appareil fonctionne
sur une fréquence de lignes C.A. qui a généralement une
fluctuation de 0,2%.
Cette fluctuation, lorsqu’elle se présente, peut faire que
image stroboscopique semble se modifier. Toutefois, fa
vitesse réelle de la platine ne change pas, car le moteur
C.C. n'est pas affecté par la fréquence du circuit de
courant C.A.
Remplacement de la
pointe de lecture
La pointe de lecture de remplacement pour cette cellule
pick-up est EPS-24CS.
La longévité d’une pointe de lecture varie selon les conditions
d'utilisation.
Un bruit de fond ou des parasites peuvent indiquer une pointe
de lecture usée ou endommagée.
Le remplacement de la pointe de lecture est recommandé
aprés environ 1000 heures d’audition. Tenir les cétés de
ensemble de la pointe de lecture et tirer pour extraire
Vancienne pointe de lecture. Aligner le nouvel ensemble de la
pointe de lecture avec la cellule de lecture et enfoncer
fermement de fagon a ce que la pointe de lecture soit
maintenue en place de fagon sure. (Fig. 18)
Nota:
Faire trés attention de ne pas toucher !’extrémité de la
pointe de lecture ou le porte-a-faux lors des pro-
cédures ci-dessus.
ell ne devra pas y avoir d’intervalle entre le corps de la
cellule de lecture et I’ensemble de la pointe de lecture.

Remplacement de la
cellule de lecture
Des cellules phonolectrices 4 connecteur enfichable sont
maintenant disponibles provenant de chez Ortofon (Dane-
mark), Shure (U.S.A.), Audio Technica (Japon) aussi bien
que de chez Technics. Toutes ces cellules pick-up sont
concues pour s’adapter parfaitement avec ce tourne-
disque dans tous les secteurs comprenant le poids, la force
verticale d’appui, la position de |’extrémité de la pointe de
lecture et le centre de gravité. Par conséquent, vous avez la
possibilité d’employer une large gamme de cellules
provenant des meilleurs fabricants du monde sans devoir
craindre les inconvénients de connexions de fils de jonction
ou de mises au point de la force verticale d’appui de la
pointe.
1. Fixer le bras de lecture sur I'accoudoir du bras avec le clip
de retenue de bras de lecture.
2. Enlever la vis de fixation de la cellule de lecture. (Fig. 19)
3. Retirer avec précaution la cellule de lecture du bras de
lecture tout en prenant garde de ne pas toucher la pointe de
lecture. (Fig. 20)
4. Aligner les ergots de la nouvelle cellule de lecture avec le
connecteur de bras de lecture et |’enficher dans le bras de
lecture aussi loin qu’il pourra aller.
5. Serrer la vis de fixation de la cellule de lecture.
Observations et entretien
@ Ne pas saisir ou soutenir le bras de lecture durant le
fonctionnement automatique.
@ Retirer soigneusement !a poussiére et les saletés des
disques et de la pointe de lecture. (Fig. 21)
La poussiére et les saletés diminueront la qualité sonore et
provoqueront une usure excessive de la pointe de lecture et
des sillons du disque.
@ Essuyer le couvercle anti-poussiéres et le socle du
tourne-disque avec un tissu doux et sec.
Ne jamais utiliser de nettoyeurs volatils contenant de
V’alcool, de la benzine ou un diluant.
Ne pas utiliser de tissus a poussiére traités chimiquement.
Ne pas exposer le couvercle & la vaporisation d’un
insecticide.
Pour retirer les taches résistantes, débrancher tout d’abord
la fiche secteur et détacher le couvercle.
Puis, essuyer le couvercle avec un tissu doux légérement
humecté d’eau savonneuse.
Ne pas essuyer le couvercle durant !’audition, sinon le bras
du pick-up risque d’étre attiré vers le couvercle a cause de
la génération d’électricité statique.
