3 GETTING STARTED
3.1 Initial setup
3G Mobile Router e ables to access etwork usi g a wireless co ectio from virtually
a ywhere withi the operati g ra ge of wireless etwork. Before fi di g place to set up access poi t.
some thi gs should be co sidered:
1. Make sure the power outlet is earby as the router requires power supply.
2. Keep the access poi t as ce tral i work area as possible.
3. The umber of walls a d ceili gs betwee the router a d other etwork devices should be
kept to a mi imum as each wall or ceili g probably will reduce adapter’s ra ge from 1-30
meters. Sig al stre gth a d speed fall off with dista ce.
4. Higher is ofte better. Set up the router o the top shelf of a bookcase rather tha the
bottom o e, if it is possible. The a te a usually works best if orie ted to poi t straight up.
5. Buildi g Materials make a differe ce. A solid metal door or alumi um studs may have a
egative effect o ra ge. Try to positio access poi t a d computers so that the sig al passes
through drywall or ope doorways. Materials a d objects such as glass, steel, metal, walls
with i sulatio , mirrors, file cabi ets, bricks, a d co crete will degrade wireless sig al.
6. Keep router away (at least 1-2 meters) from electrical devices or applia ces that ge erate RF
oise.
7. If you are usi g 2.4GHz cordless pho es or X-10 (wireless products such as ceili g fa s,
lights, a d home security systems), your wireless co ectio may degrade dramatically or
drop completely. Make sure your 2.4GHz pho e base is as far away from your wireless
devices as possible. The base tra smits a sig al eve if the pho e i ot i use.
3.2 Connect to network
1. Attach Wireless LAN a d GSM a te as.
•Remove the a te a from its plastic wrapper.
•Screw the a te a i a clockwise directio to the back pa el of the u it.
•Positio the a te a upward at its co ecti g joi t. This will e sure optimal receptio .
2. I sert the SIM card which was give by your GSM (mobile) service provider
3. I sert the Ether et cable i to LAN Port if the router will be co figured usi g wired
co ectio .
4. Co ect the power adapter to the receptor o the fro t pa el of 3G Mobile Router. The
plug the other e d of the power adapter i to a wall outlet or power strip.
Note: SIM card is ma datory for setti g up co ectio to the GSM etwork. However, the
ma ufacturer of this equipme t does ot supply the SIM card. The SIM card ca be purchased from
your GSM (mobile) service provider! For APN, user ame a d password please co tact your GSM
(mobile) service provider. The 3G Mobile Router must be powered off while i serti g or taki g out
the SIM card. If the SIM card will be i serted or take out from the modem while the power is o –
it may cause damage to the modem or the SIM card. I this case, the modem will ot be replaced or
repaired by the guara tee.
