E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Camera
Instrument setup
1. Remove rubber connector plug.
2. Gently place the E-Gel™Power Snap
Plus Camera on the electrophoresis
device with the camera and docking
connectors aligned, then lower the
camera into place.
3. The camera screen will briey display
a welcome screen, which will change
to the home screen when it is ready
for use.

Product description
·The Invitrogen™E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Camera is designed for effortless image
capture and documentation of pre-cast E-Gel™agarose gels and E-PAGE™gels when
used with the E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Electrophoresis Device.
·The cable-free camera ts seamlessly with the electrophoresis unit to enable image
capture during a run without the need to interrupt the workow.
·High-resolution images are digitally captured without the need for focusing or
adjustment.

·E-Gel™Power Snap Electrophoresis Device (Cat. No. G9100)
·USB memory device
·(Optional) Cat 5 Ethernet cable or USB-enabled wi- module
Important guidelines
·The E-Gel™Power Snap plus Camera displays a still image in real time gel view mode
to avoid over-heating, however, samples will continue to migrate. Pause the gel before
viewing, if it is necessary to capture images of bands that have migrated a specic
distance on the gel.
·Still images refresh when the exposure controls are used.
·Use the E-Gel™Imager with the E-Gel™UV light base or other UV transilluminator for
viewing E-Gel™agarose gels with ethidium bromide. The blue-light transilluminator
does not provide the optimal excitation spectrum for viewing ethidium bromide
stained gels.

First time camera setup (Administrator only)
Create a user profile
The rst user prole created on the camera is automatically assigned as an Administrator
prole.
1. Select > Get started > Create prole.
2. Select user name.
3. Set and conrm PIN.
Set date and time
Set the date and time on the camera upon rst use.
1. Select > Instrument Settings.
2. Select Date&Time.
3. Set the Time Zone, Date, and Time, then select Done.
Set cloud region
The rst time the instrument is connected to the Thermo Fisher™Connect account the
user will be promted to select a cloud region.
1. Select the appropriate Cloud region appropriate region for your instrument.
(Optional) Connect the instrument to the Internet
The instrument supports connectivity to the Internet through either an Ethernet port, or a
USB-enabled Wi-Fi adapter (Windows 10 compatible).
Update firmware (Administrator only)
1. Insert the USB memory device with the new rmware in the dedicated USB port on
the rear of the camera.
2. Select Settings > Updates.
3. Select Yes to start the upgrade.

Image capture protocol
This protocol describes how to use the E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Camera to capture
images of E-Gel™agarose gels. For detailed instructions see the E-Gel™Power Snap Plus
Electrophoresis System User Guide at thermosher.com or contact Technical Support.
Step Action
1View gel
a. Select View Gel on the touch screen to
visualize the current gel run.
b. Adjust exposure settings if necessary.
2Capture image
a. Select Capture to save the gel image to
the Gallery.
b. (Optional) Select Edit to adjust image
properites.
c. Select Done.
3Export image
a. (Optional) Insert a USB memory device
to the camera.
b. Select a destination to save the file
(USB memory device, network drive,
cloud storage).
c. Select Export to export the gel image
from the live view.
4Export from Gallery
a. Insert a USB memory drive to the
camera.
b. Select Gallery.
c. Select the image file(s) to be exported.
d. (Optional) Select Edit to adjust image
properites.
e. Select Export > Export.
Run gel protocol
This protocol describes how to use the E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Camera to run a gel
protocol. See the E-Gel™Power Snap Plus Electrophoresis Device Quick Reference
(Pub. No. 100105462) for instructions on how to prepare the gel and samples.
Step Action
1Insert gel
a. Prepare gel cassette.
b. Insert the gel cassette into the E-Gel™
Power Snap Plus Electrophoresis Device.
c. Load samples and markers.
2Run protocol
a. Select Set up run.
b. Select the Category and Type
corresponding to the E-Gel™cassette in the
device.
c. Adjust run time duration if necessary, then
select Start run.
