FLEXTIP DIGITAL THERMOMETER
Thank you for purchasing the Be better™ FlexTip Digital Thermometer. To correctly utilize all the advantages of this product,
please familiarize yourself with these operating instructions before using the thermometer for the first time. Keep the
instructions in a safe place for future reference.
SAFETY INFORMATION:
• High, prolonged fever requires medical attention, especially for young children. Please contact your physician should this
occur.
• This thermometer contains small pieces that can pose a choking hazard. Do not allow children to take their own
temperatures unattended.
• Keep battery away from children, harmful if swallowed.
• Do not open the thermometer except to replace the battery.
• To avoid damage to the probe, do not bend beyond a 45° angle.
• Use of a probe cover may result in a 0.1°C / 0.2°F discrepancy from actual temperature.
• Do not boil probe to disinfect.
• Do not store in direct sunlight or in areas of extreme heat.
HOW TO TAKE A TEMPERATURE:
1. Select Oral, Axillary (Underarm) or Rectal as your measurement site based on each individual. Clean thermometer with
soap and water prior to use.
2. Push the operating button located beside the display window. The thermometer will beep and the display will read: M.
This is a function check indicating that the unit is working properly. Should there be a reading in the memory it will then
appear. Immediately after 37.0°C / 98.6°F will appear then, with the °C/°F flashing and the “M” gone, will indicate
that the thermometer is ready for use.
IMPORTANT: does not refer to the battery level.
3. While taking a temperature, the °C/°F symbol flashes as long as the temperature increases.
4. A beep will sound for 10 seconds indicating that the peak temperature has been reached. If the temperature is
37.8°C / 100°F or higher rapid beeps will sound indicating a fever.
NOTE: The LCD will display “LO°C” if the measurement taken is below 32.0°C / 90°F. It will display “HI°C” if the
measurement is above 42.9°C / 109.9°F.
5. To prolong the life of the battery, turn the thermometer off after each use by pressing the operating button briefly,
otherwise the unit will turn off automatically in approximately 10 minutes.
6. To switch the thermometer from °C to °F, press and hold the operating button for 2 seconds when the thermometer is off.
The thermometer will turn on and either °C or °F will be displayed.
ORAL USE:
• Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke or perform other activities prior to a measurement. These actions will raise
or lower temperature readings when compared to your normal, average temperature. The mouth should remain closed for
up to 5 minutes before attempting a reading.
• Place the probe tip well under the tongue and wait until a beep is heard. Instruct children not to bite down on the probe.
AXILLARY (UNDERARM) USE:
• Wipe underarm with a dry towel.
• Place the probe tip in the hollow of the armpit and bring arm down against the body and wait until a beep is heard.
RECTAL USE:
• Commonly used for babies, young children or when it is difficult to take an oral or axillary (underarm) temperature.
• Lubricate the thermometer with a water-soluble personal lubricant or petroleum jelly.
• Gently insert the probe tip no more than 1.3 cm or 1/2 inch into the rectum, and wait until a beep is heard.
Do not force the tip into the rectum if resistance is encountered.
WHAT IS “NORMAL” BODY TEMPERATURE?
“Normal” body temperature varies from person to person and changes according to time of day and body location. The
following table shows the temperature ranges:

IMPORTANT: It is recommended to measure the body temperature when healthy to establish the specic “normal”
temperature.
MEMORY RECALL:
This thermometer has a memory which recalls the last temperature taken. To obtain this information, with the thermometer
off, press the operating button. The screen displays Mthen the last measurement which will be deleted after the next
temperature is taken.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING:
Before and after each use, clean the thermometer with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Disinfect using a cotton ball
moistened with alcohol. Never immerse in hot water or in harsh cleaning solutions.
CHANGING THE BATTERY:
When the “ “ appears on the display, the battery is exhausted and needs replacing. Remove the
battery compartment lid located at the top of the thermometer and discard the old battery. (See
Figure 1) Insert a new equivalent battery (LR41, 1.5V). Ensure the battery is correctly positioned
with the “+” facing down or towards the back of the unit. Replace battery compartment lid.

IMPORTANTES CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ :
• Une èvre élevée et persistante nécessite des soins médicaux surtout chez les jeunes enfants. Le cas échéant,
consultez un médecin.
• Ce thermomètre renferme des petites pièces qui peuvent causer des dangers d’étouffement. Ne pas permettre
aux enfants de prendre leur propre température sans surveillance.
• Garder la pile hors de la portée des enfants, son ingestion peut être nocive.
• Ne pas ouvrir le thermomètre sauf pour remplacer la pile.
• Pour éviter d’endommager la sonde, ne pas la plier au-delà d’un angle de 45°.
• L’usage d’un protège-sonde peut résulter d’un écart de 0,1 °C / 0,2 °F de la température réelle.
• Ne pas mettre la sonde dans de l’eau bouillante pour la désinfecter.
• Ne pas ranger le thermomètre dans la lumière solaire directe ou dans des endroits de chaleur extrême.
LA PRISE DE TEMPÉRATURE :
1. Choisissez la mesure par voie buccale, axillaire (sous l’aisselle) ou rectale selon la région de mesure d’après l’individu.
Nettoyez le thermomètre avec de l’eau et du savon avant de l’utiliser
2. Appuyez sur le bouton d’alimentation situé à côté de la fenêtre d’afchage. Le thermomètre émettra un signal sonore (bip)
et l’écran afchera: M. Cette vérication de fonctionnement signie que le thermomètre fonctionne correctement. Si
une mesure est stockée dans la mémoire, alors elle s’afchera. Tout de suite après s’afchera 37,0 °C /98,6 °F suivi de
avec l’unité de mesure °C /°F clignotant et la lettre “M” effacée pour spécier que le thermomètre est prêt pour la
mesure de température.
IMPORTANT : L’affichage de ne fait pas référence à l’état de charge de la pile.
3. Pendant la mesure de température, le symbole °C/°F clignote aussi longtemps que la température augmente.
4. Un signal sonore (bip) sera émis pendant 10 secondes pour signier que la température de pointe est atteinte. Si la
température atteint 37,8 °C / 100 °F ou plus, des signaux sonores (bips) rapides seront émis pour signier la présence de
èvre.
NOTE : L’écran ACL affichera “LO°C” si la mesure prise est au-dessous de 32,0 °C / 90 °F. Il affichera “HI°C” si la mesure
prise est au-dessus de 42,9 °C / 109,9 °F.
5. Pour prolonger l’autonomie de la pile, mettez hors tension le thermomètre en appuyant brièvement sur le bouton
d’alimentation après chaque utilisation, sinon il se mettra hors tension automatiquement après 10 minutes.
6. Pour commuter le thermomètre de °C à °F, appuyez et maintenez le bouton d’alimentation pendant 2 secondes quand le
thermomètre est hors tension. Une fois le thermomètre sous tension, soit °C ou °F s’afchera.
USAGE PAR VOIE BUCCALE :
• Avant la prise de température, il est déconseillé de prendre une boisson chaude ou froide, de fumer ou faire de l’exercice
avant la mesure an d’éviter d’augmenter ou d’abaisser la mesure de température si on la compare à votre température
moyenne normale. La bouche doit être fermée pendant 5 minutes avant de prendre une mesure.
• Placez la pointe de la sonde sous la langue et attendez le signal sonore. Avisez les enfants de ne pas mordre la sonde.
USAGE PAR VOIE AXILLAIRE (SOUS L’AISSELLE) :
• Essuyez l’aisselle avec une serviette sèche.
• Placez la pointe de la sonde sous le creux de l’aisselle et ramenez le bras le long du corps et attendez le signal sonore.
USAGE PAR VOIE RECTALE :
• Cette méthode est utilisée couramment chez les bébés, les jeunes enfants et lorsqu’il est difcile d’obtenir une lecture
buccale ou axillaire (sous l’aisselle).
• Lubriez le thermomètre à l’aide d’un lubriant personnel hydrosoluble ou de la gelée de pétrole.
• Insérez délicatement la pointe de la sonde sans dépasser 1,3 cm ou ½ po dans le rectum et attendez le signal sonore.
En cas de résistance, ne forcez pas la sonde dans le rectum.
QU’EST-CE QU’UNE TEMPÉRATURE CORPORELLE “NORMALE”?
Une température corporelle “normale” varie d’une personne à l’autre et change selon l’heure de la journée et la région
corporelle. Le tableau suivant montre les plages de températures :

IMPORTANT : Lorsque nous sommes en bonne santé, il est recommandé de mesurer notre température corporelle afin
d’établir notre température “normale” spécifique.
RAPPEL D’UNE MESURE EN MÉMOIRE :
Ce thermomètre peut rappeler la dernière mesure en mémoire. Pour obtenir cette information, le thermomètre fermé,
appuyez sur le bouton de mise en marche. L’écran affichera M puis la dernière mesure stockée en mémoire, laquelle
sera effacée dès la prise d’une nouvelle mesure de température.
NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION :
Avant et après chaque usage, nettoyez le thermomètre avec de l’eau tiède savonneuse et un chiffon doux. Désinfectez
avec un tampon d’ouate humidifié d’alcool. Ne plongez jamais le thermomètre dans l’eau chaude ou dans des solutions
nettoyantes abrasives.
REMPLACEMENT DE LA PILE :
Lorsque le symbole “ ” s’affiche sur l’écran pendant une mesure de température, la pile est
déchargée et doit être remplacée. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment de la pile à la tête du
thermomètre et retirez la pile usée (voir Figure 1). Insérez une nouvelle pile (LR41. 1,5 V), le signe (+)
faisant face vers le bas ou vers l’arrière du thermomètre. Remettez le couvercle du compartiment
de la pile.
