To ensure he op imal performance of his produc , please ake he ime o read his manual carefully.
1.1 Explanation of Admonitions

1.3 Intended Use
The Tobii PCEye Go is a clip-on eye racker ha le s you access and con rol your compu er using only your eyes only. Simply
look a he compu er screen and selec commands by blinking, dwelling or clicking a swi ch.

2 Safety
The Tobii PCEye Go has been es ed and approved as complian o all he Specifica ions and S andards lis ed in he Appendix
B Compliance Information, page 55 in his manual and in he Appendix D Technical Specifications, page 58 -- including, bu
no limi ed o, he Medical Device Direc ive (MDD) 93/42/EEC. Never heless, in order o ensure safe opera ion of your
Tobii PCEye Go device, here are a few safe y warnings o bear in mind:
2.1 Mounting Warning
The Tobii PCEye Go should be moun ed according o MANUFACTURER ins ruc ions of approved moun s.
Tobii Dynavox or i s agen s are no liable for damage or injuries o a person or i s proper y due o a Tobii PCEye Go
falling from a moun ed configura ion. The moun ing of a Tobii PCEye Go is done en irely a he user’s own risk.
The double sided ape supplied wi h he adhesive Magne ic Moun ing Pla es is designed o permanen ly a ach he
bracke o he moni or/lap op. A emp ing o remove he bracke af er a aching i using he supplied ape can resul in
damage bo h o he moni or/lap op and he bracke .

2.2 Emergency Warning
Be aware ha due o he low, bu possible, risk of failure, he Tobii PCEye Go should no be relied upon exclusively as
an audio communica ions, or an environmen al con rol, device in emergencies, as well as in dangerous, or o herwise
impor an , si ua ions. Do no rely on he device for emergency calls or banking ransac ions. We recommend having
mul iple ways o communica e in emergency si ua ions. Banking ransac ions should only be carried ou wi h a sys em
recommended by, and approved according o he s andards of, your bank.
2.3 Infrared Warning
When ac iva ed, he Tobii PCEye Go emi s pulsed infrared (IR) ligh . Cer ain medical devices are suscep ible o dis-
urbance by IR ligh and/or radia ion. Do no use he Tobii PCEye Go when in he vicini y of such suscep ible medical
devices as heir accuracy or proper func ionali y could be inhibi ed.
2.4 Epilepsy Warning
Some people wi h Photosensitive Epilepsy are suscep ible o epilep ic seizures or loss of consciousness when ex-
posed o cer ain flashing ligh s or ligh pa erns in everyday life. This may happen even if he person has no medical
his ory of epilepsy or has never had any epilep ic seizures.
A person wi h Pho osensi ive Epilepsy would also be likely o have problems wi h TV screens, some arcade games,
and flickering fluorescen bulbs. Such people may have a seizure while wa ching cer ain images or pa erns on a mon-
i or, or even when exposed o he ligh sources of an eye racker. I is es ima ed ha abou 3-5% of people wi h epi-
lepsy have his ype of Pho osensi ive Epilepsy. Many people wi h Pho osensi ive Epilepsy experience an "aura" or
feel odd sensa ions before he seizure occurs. If you feel odd during use, move your eyes away from he eye racker.
2.5 Magnetic Field Warning
The Tobii PCEye Go Magne ic Moun ing Pla es con ains magne s. Magne ic fields may in erfere wi h he func ion of
cardiac pacemakers and implan able cardiover er-defibrilla ors. As a general rule, main ain a minimum dis ance of 6
inches (15 cen ime ers) be ween any i em wi h magne s and your hear device.
The magne s can also shu off he moni or on a lap op if he lap op is equipped wi h a magne ic sensor o swi ch off
he moni or when closing he lap op. If his happens, shu of he sensor on he lap op.

2.6 Child Safety
The Tobii PCEye Go is an advanced compu er sys em and elec ronic device. As such i is composed of numerous
separa e, assembled par s. In he hands of a child cer ain of hese par s have he possibili y of being separa ed from
he device, possibly cons i u ing a choking hazard or ano her danger o he child.
Young children should no have access o, or he use of, he device wi hou paren al or guardian supervision.
2.7 Do not Open the Tobii CEye Go
Non-compliance will resul in loss of Warran y! There are no user serviceable componen s inside. Con ac
Tobii Dynavox Suppor if your Tobii PCEye Go is no working properly.
2.8 Gaze Interaction
Some people may experience a cer ain amoun of fa igue (due o in en ional eye focusing and hard concen ra ion) or
even a dryness of he eyes (due o less frequen blinking) when firs ge ing used o Gaze In erac ion. If you are experi-
encing fa igue or dry eyes s ar off slowly and limi he leng h of your Gaze In erac ion sessions o your comfor level.
Remois urizing eye drops can be helpful o comba dryness.

3 Getting Started
To s ar using Gaze In erac ion, you mus firs ins all he necessary sof ware and drivers from he included USB-s ick, moun he
Tobii PCEye Go device o i s Magne ic Moun ing Pla es and a ach i properly o your device.
Ins all he sof ware FIRST before connec ing he Tobii PCEye Go device o your compu er.
Works wi h PC compu ers running on a Windows opera ing sys em ONLY (Windows Vis a, Windows 7, Window 8,
Windows 8.1 or Windows 10).
Be aware ha here is no virus pro ec ion included wi h he Tobii PCEye Go Sof ware. Be sure o have proper virus
pro ec ion ins alled on your compu er o safeguard agains malfunc ions.
The Ins alla ion Guide will ins all he necessary sof ware and drivers for he Tobii PCEye Go.
Will only be run once on each device a Tobii PCEye Go is o be a ached o.
The Configura ion Guide will assis in configura ion of he Tobii PCEye Go.
Can be run several imes o change he configura ion for he Tobii PCEye Go on he device (such as o change moni-
ors and/or screen sizes).
3.1 The Tobii CEye Go Installation Guide
The Tobii PCEye Go Installation Guide will help you o ge s ar ed using Gaze In erac ion wi h your compu er. I will guide
you hrough he ins alla ion of he necessary sof ware for he Tobii PCEye Go and provide Licensing informa ion

(s) and Tobii PCEye Go o your compu er and connec ing he USB cable, he Tobii PCEye Go Con iguration Guide will open
au oma ically.
The Configura ion Guide will help you o ge s ar ed using Gaze In erac ion on your compu er.

Follow he ins ruc ions on each page of he Con iguration Guide, selec Next o move o he nex page of he Guide.

Pay par icular a en ion o he Screen page and he Calibration page of he Configura ion Guide. In bo h cases you
mus comple e he informa ion, or asks, reques ed of you before you are able o selec Next.
On he Screen page be sure o measure he ac ual blue lines making up he riangle on he screen wi h he included ruler on
he side of he Tobii PCEye Go Moun ing Guide and fill in heir numbers in he spaces provided. Then selec Save.
DO NOT a emp o measure he physical screen size of your compu er. The numbers of he measured lines from he
riangle will be ex rapola ed in o he size of he physical screen by he sof ware.
On he Calibration page, you mus calibra e before moving on o he nex page. Follow he ins ruc ions and selec Calibrate.
Wi hou calibra ion, you will be unable o finish he Con iguration Guide and Gaze In erac ion will no work properly on your
compu er.
• Selec Finish on he final page of he Con iguration Guide and your se ings and configura ions will be saved for fu ure
use.
The Con iguration Guide will au oma ically launch if configura ion changes o your sys em have been de ec ed.
All fu ure se ings, profile con rol, and calibra ions will be con rolled by, and can be accessed from, Tobii Gaze Interaction
Settings (see 4 Using the Tobii PC ye Go, page 14 for informa ion abou Tobii Gaze Interaction Settings)

4 Using the Tobii CEye Go
4.1 ositioning

Make sure he user is placed comfor ably in rela ion o he op imal posi ioning of, and dis ance from, he uni . Be
aware also ha he user’s comfor , as well as he Gaze In erac ion performance, will be enhanced if he sun is no
shining direc ly on he screen or in o he user’s eyes.
The op imal dis ance ha a user should be from he Tobii PCEye Go moun ed on a moni or/lap op differs depending on he size
of he screen. The user should be posi ioned a he op imal dis ance o allow for he bes possible Gaze In erac ion.
Generally, he larger he size of he screen, he grea er he dis ance he user should be from he Eye Tracker / Screen combina-
ion for op imal Gaze In erac ion.
Smaller han a 10 inch screen and larger han a 27 inch screen should no be used for op imal Gaze In erac ion, for more infor-
ma ion see Appendix D Technical Specifications, page 58.
4.1.1 Track Box
The Tobii PCEye Go allows for ex ensive Freedom of Head Movemen . Once he Tobii PCEye Go is properly calibra ed and
placed in fron of he user, no fur her adjus men s are required.
The Tobii PCEye Go produces an indus ry leading sized rack box wi h he approxima e dimensions of 30 cm × 20 cm × 20 cm
/ 11.8 in × 7.9 in × 7.9 in (Wid h × Heigh × Dep h). The Track Box is an invisible box posi ioned approxima ely 60 cm (23.5 in)
s raigh ou from a poin jus above he middle of he screen.

A 70 cm (27.5 in) he Tobii PCEye Go allows for la eral Freedom of Head Movemen in an area of abou 50 × 36 cm (20 × 14
in).
In order o func ion properly for Gaze In erac ion he user needs a leas one eye in he rack box a all imes.
4.1.2 Track S a us Viewer
Use he Track S a us viewer (see 4.1.2.1 Showing Track Status , page 15 for more informa ion on how o open he Track S a us
viewer) o help de ermine he op imal heigh and horizon al posi ioning for Gaze In erac ion wi h he Tobii PCEye Go.
• Ideally, he wo do s ha represen he user’s eyes should be in he middle of he Track S a us viewer.
• Use he dis ance me er on he righ hand side of he Track S a us viewer o de ermine he op imal dis ance he user
should be from he Tobii PCEye Go.
• The whi e riangle in he dis ance me er should hover near he cen er, wi hin he green, when he op imal dis ance from
he Tobii PCEye Go is reached.

4.2 Using Windows Control
Windows Con rol allows you o access he desk op and all applica ions of your Windows compu er wi h Gaze In erac ion.
4.2.1 Windows Con rol Type
Windows Con rol can be used in wo differen modes
•Gaze Selection
Gaze Selec ion is a very precise and fas inpu me hod ha allows you advanced Windows access bu wi h a simple o
use in erface. No acciden al clicks, no unin en ional mouse poin er movemen s. You can relaxed gaze around a your
Windows desk op, your sof ware applica ion, web page or movie, when you have decided wha ac ion you wan o ake
nex , you selec your ool of choice from he oolbar and look back a he arge area o make your selec ion.
Gaze Selec ion is ideal for normal o advanced Windows access where you wan he full accessibili y o con rol basically
any Windows sof ware wi hou he need for fas decisions and movemen s. I can be con rolled using ei her Gaze (dwell)
or swi ch ac iva ion me hod for even more con rol and speed.
•Mouse Emulation

Mouse Emula ion gives you full con rol of your mouse poin er, jus like you would do wi h a physical mouse inpu device.
You can lef click, righ click, double click, zoom, scroll and much more. You basically can con rol any Windows sof ware
ha works wi h mouse clicks. Wi h some prac ice you could achieve as high precision as wi h any o her mouse poin er
device. Mouse Emula ion is ideal for emergen (sensory) o advanced Windows usage and for sof ware which eaches
he usage of eyegaze. You can hide he Mouse Emula ion menu if you wan o limi he func ionali y or avoid dis rac ion
by pressing he F2 bu on on your keyboard.

4.2.3 Using Gaze Selec ion
The Gaze Selec ion mode of Windows Con rol makes i possible for he user o con rol a s andard Windows desk op opera ing
sys em wi h a wo s ep selec ion me hod which reduces he risks of unwan ed clicks. I also preven s he following of he mouse
cursor wi h your gaze as opposed o he con rolling of i ( here is no floa ing mouse cursor in Gaze Selec ion).
1. The firs s ep is o selec he desired Task from he docked Taskbar by looking a i .
2. The second s ep is o look a he desired por ion of he screen (or icon on he screen) where you wan o execu e he
Task. An au oma ic zoom func ion is enabled, ending in he selec ion of he icon or execu ion of he ask.
All func ions in Gaze Selec ion are Touch and Mouse enabled which makes i easier for a Caregiver or Assis an o
help he user if needed. The Caregiver or Assis an can selec a Func ion/Task or change he se ings for he user
much easier.
4.2.3.1 Gaze election Taskbar
A he op of he Gaze Selec ion Taskbar here is a Track S a us viewer. I allows you o verify ha he eye racker recognizes
your eyes and ha you are well posi ioned in fron of he device.

•Normal (Unselected) - No Task Bu on for Gaze Selec ion is chosen.
•Primary Selection (Blue/black) - The marked Task Bu on is selec ed and he Task will be execu ed af er he au o-
ma ic zoom when he user looks a he desired posi ion on he screen or icon on i . If he selec ion me hod is se o
Swi ch in he Gaze Selec ion Se ings Dialog, he chosen Task Bu on will s ill remain ac ive af er execu ing he Task.
The Func ions Overlay Task will no perform any zooming. When selec ing Func ions Overlay wi h Primary Se-
lec ion, he Func ions Areas/Commands will be ac ive bu no visible.
•Secondary Selection (Blue/white) - Same as Primary Selection bu wi h a higher precision. Primary Selection
means ha he zoom will progress deeper before he final execu ion of he Task, making he desired por ion of he
screen bigger and easier o selec wi hin. Ac iva e his mode by res ing your gaze on he Task Bu on un il he color
changes according o he image below.
The Func ions Overlay Task will no perform any zooming. When selec ing Func ions Overlay wi h Secondary
Selec ion, he Func ions will be ac ive and he areas of each Func ion will be visible o he user.
In Windows 8 he colors on he Taskbar will adap o Windows se ings.
The Func ions Overlay will no perform any zoom, some o her asks won' ei her in some si ua ions (scroll, se ings,
keyboard).
