Touch Dynamic Quest Tablet
UIC Configuration Guide
This document shows how to use a UIC device with CRE.
Note: This feature is available for version 12.9014 or higher.
U-VPE Service Tool must be running in order to communicate with the EMV and card swipe devices.
(Windows Service).
UIC Processor doesn’t support Manual Credit card entry
UIC Processor only supports Credit Card Transactions
Only the UIC SCH001 + MCH200 Devices are Validated/certified in this integration
The build in card reader only support credit card transaction which is encrypted data, hence the
employee swipe is not supported.

Getting the Port number from the UIC V-UPE Service Tool
This service is a windows service and it should be running. To access the settings for this service tool. Please follow the
steps below. .
1. Double Click on shortcut
to open service tool
2. Select Yes
3. Select Parameter Settings Tab.
4. Write down the Value under Listen Port. In
the Connect Settings section.
Note: This value is needed for CRE’s Configuration.
5. Select the X to close.

Configuring CRE/RPE for use with UIC Processor
You can Configure CRE/RPE to communicate with the device.
Follow instructions below
1. With CRE open select the Manager or Options
button. Enter the Administrative ID &
password.
2. Select Setup (4).
3. Select Setup Screen (G).
4. Select the Account Control tab
5. Under the Accept Digital Signature On:
Check Credit Cards

6. Select Hardware tab.
7. Select Page 2
8. Under the Signature pad type
Select On-Screen
9. Select the Payment Processing tab.
10. Select the Processing Tab.
11. Select Credit/Debit.
12. Select UIC as the Payment Processor from the
dropdown menu.
13. Enter IP Address 127.0.0.1
14. Verify the Port No. is set to the same number
that is in step 4 from V-UPE Service Tool
Section.
15. Select Unlock and follow instructions from the
Processor Unlock Guide for Users.
16. Select Update.
Note: Heartland Portico is the only supported
payment processor.

Completing a sale using Credit card (EMV/Swipe Card)
This section shows the behavior of both Cash register Express and UIC processor in regards to completing a credit card
(EMV/Swipe card) sale from the invoice screen, when configured by the previous section.
1. Ring up any item,
Then Select Pay
2. Select Credit/Debit
3. Now Cash register is ready to process the card.

4. Insert Card on the Top
Or Swipe Card on the right.
Note:
Insert Card with Chip facing up
Swipe Card with magnetic stripe facing up
and on the left
5. Once the card is approved
The On-screen signature will prompt.
6. Have the customer sign.
(Using their finger)
Then Select Done.

Troubleshooting
This section will help when experiencing any issues when trying to complete a transaction with the device.
Issue One:
If you see this error Pop-up with the
description on the Credit Card Information
Screen after selecting credit from the amount
tendered screen. This means there is an issue
with the port number. Follow the steps
below.
1. Double Click on shortcut
to open service tool
2. Under the Service Settings Tab,
Select Stop Service.

3. Select OK.
4. Select Start Service
5. Select OK

6. Status should look like the screen on the left,
then select X to close.

Issue Two:
If you insert the EMV card and notice the
phase “Please swipe or insert card” doesn’t
change. And only the card swiper works.
If you swipe an EMV the status will change to
“Please Insert Card”.
NOTE: You must shut down the tablet.
Wait for 20 seconds
Turn on the device.
