TodisconnectTranscendfromyourComputer,navigateto‘safelyremove’or’eject’
thehardwarethroughyourComputerthenremovetheUSBcablefromTranscend.
Ifyoudisconnectwhiledataistransferring,youmayrisklosingthedata.
AlwaysensurethattheUSBportissealedcorrectlybeforeuseoutdoors.
Environmentaldamagemayoccurifthisportisnotcorrectlysealed.
1.7 AboutTranscend’sBaery
TranscendfeaturesaninternalLithiumrechargeablebaeryinthelehandside.
Thereisnothingtoremoveorreplace,simplychargeasperbelow.

Important: If Transcend is connected to a computer that is turned o or
in stand-by, it may drain instead of charge the baery.

Inopmalcondions,Transcendcanfast charge (baerylifereaches80%)through
yourcomputerorACadapterin1 hour.Youcanaaina100%fullchargein3 to 5
hours.IfyouchargeTranscendwhileitispoweredon,chargemewilltakelongerthan
3 hours.
BesuretoturnTranscendOFFbeforechargingit.
TheTranscendcanalsobechargedfromtheUSBportofaComputerusingthe
providedUSBcablein3 to 5 hours.Chargemesvarydependingonthemodelof
theComputer.Forbestchargingperformance,itisrecommendedthatyouusethe
providedACadapterandUSBcableforcharging.
Transcend’sbaerywilllast6+ hoursinopmalcondions,theequivalenttoyour
averageskiday.SimplyrechargeatanymethroughyourcomputerorACadapter.

TomaximizeTranscend’sbaerylifeandperformanceyoucandothefollowing:
• Turnthebrightnessdownfrom3to2or1(See ‘Seng the Brightness
secon below)
• Turnthedisplayocompletelyfrommetome(See Display O
Mode secon below)
• PowerotheTranscendduringlongbreaksofnon-use
• DonotleaveTranscendexposedincoldorwinterenvironmentswhen
not in use
• EnsureTranscendhasbeenchargedfullybeforestoringforlongperiods

ToPoweron,simplyholdthePOWER/SELECTbuonforabout2seconds.Youwill
knowtheunitisonwhenthePOWER/SELECTbuonglowsbluethroughtheRecon
InstrumentsLogo,andthedisplayscreenpowersuptoshowtheDashboard.

2. TheStatusBar
Acrossthetopofthescreenarethreeimportantpiecesofinformaonatallmes.
ThisStatusBarappearsinallscreensandmenusandprovidesthevitalsofTranscend:
GPSIndicator,Time,andBaeryIndicator.
2.1 GPSIndicator
TranscendusesGPStechnologytodetermineitsspeedandlocaon.GPSrequires
thatthedevicehasalineofsightwithatleast4GPSsatellites.ThismeansthatGPS
worksbestinopenspaceswithaclearviewofthesky.Obstruconssuchasbuildings
andtreescandegradethesignalqualityandimpactspeed/posionreliability.Aswith
anyGPSdevice,whenTranscendispoweredonittakessomemetolocateenough
satellitestoaccuratelycalculateitsposion.ThisdelayisknownastheTimetoFirst
Fix(TTFF).Transcend’saverageTTFFrangesbetween3to5minutesdependingonthe
condions.

WhenTranscendissearchingforsatellitestogainaGPSsignalitisrepresentedbythe
followingicon,locatedinthetoplehandcorneroftheStatusBar.
WhenTranscendhasamoderate-to-strongsignalitisrepresentedbythefollowing
icon,locatedinthetoplehandcorneroftheStatusBar.
WhenTranscendhasabrokenGPSsignalitisrepresentedbythefollowingicon,
locatedinthetoplehandcorneroftheStatusBar.Itisrecommendedthatyou
restartTranscendifyouexperiencethisiconformorethanafewseconds.
2.2 Time
Transcend’sclockislocatedinthemiddleoftheStatusBar.Read‘SengtheTime’
belowformoreinformaon.

Transcend’scurrentBaeryPowerLevelisindicatedatthetoprighthandcorneror
theStatusBar.
WhenTranscendhasfullornearlyfullchargeitwillberepresentedbythefollowing
icon,locatedinthetoprighthandcornerofthedisplayatallmes.
WhenTranscendhasparalbaerypoweritwillberepresentedbyavariaonofthe
followingicons,locatedinthetoprighthandcornerofthedisplayatallmes.
WhenTranscendhaslow-to-nobaerypoweritwillberepresentedbyavariaonof

Plugintoyourcomputerorpoweroutlettorecharge.

3. SengPreferencesinTranscend
Oncecharged,turnonTranscendandnavigatetothePreferencesscreenusing
theUP/FORWARDorDOWN/BACKWARDSbuons.The‘PreferencesScreen’has
informaonincludingthemeofthebeginningofyourtripandthecalendardate,as
wellasthesequenallynumbereddaycurrentlyloggedwithinmemory.Youwillalso
seethermwareversion#inthismainarea.IntheeventyourTranscend’smemory
isfull,youwillbepromptedinthisscreenaswell.Simplydownloadthedatatoyour
computertofreeupmemory.
Atthe‘PreferencesScreen’SELECT‘Preferences’.Chooseanyoftheoponslistedto
setyourpreferences,orSELECT‘Back’toreturntothemainscreen.Ifyoustayinany
preferencescreenformorethantensecondsyouwillbebumpedouttothescreen
youwereinpreviously.

Transcendoersacongurabledashboardthatallowsyoutochooseoneofthe
followingFeaturestobedisplayedalongsidethepermanentFeaturesofthemain
dashboardscreen.ThedefaultfeatureviewedisCurrent Altude.

• TotalVercalDistanceTravelledduringthecurrenttrip
• TotalDistanceTravelledacrossland(up,down,andsideways)during
thecurrenttrip

safe,andeasilyviewedinyourcurrentenvironment.ThedefaultBrightnessis3:High
Brightness.
Choosefrom:
• 1:LowBrightness
• 2:MediumBrightness
• 3:HighBrightness
Tochoosewhichbrightnessbestsuitsyourenvironment:
1. SELECT‘Brightness’fromthe‘Preferences’menu
2. UsetheUP/FORWARDorDOWN/BACKWARDSbuonstocyclethrough
