2. Introduction
The TEW-687GA Wireless N Gaming Adapter is a high-performance, supports high-speed
wireless networking at home, at work or in public places. This bridge is also back compatible
with 802.11g or 11b devices. This means that you do not need to change your entire network to
maintain connectivity. You may sacrifice some of 11n’s speed when you mix 11n and 11b/g
devices, but you will not lose the ability to communicate when you incorporate the 11n standard
into your 11b/g network. You may choose to slowly change your network by gradually replacing
the 11b/g devices with 11n devices.

3.3 Installation Considerations
The TEW-687GA Gaming Adapter allows you to access your network by using a wireless
connection from virtually anywhere within its operating range. Keep in mind that the
number, thickness and location of walls, ceilings, or other objects that the wireless
signals must pass through, may limit the range. Typical ranges vary depending on the
types of materials and background RF (radio frequency) noise in your home or business.
The key to maximizing wireless range is to follow these basic guidelines:
1. Keep the number of walls and ceilings between the TEW-687GA and other network
devices to a minimum - each wall or ceiling can reduce your wireless product’s range
from 3-90 feet (1-30 meters.) Position your devices so that the number of walls or
ceilings is minimized.
2. Be aware of the direct line between network devices. A wall that is 1.5 feet thick (.5
meters), at a 45-degree angle appears to be almost 3 feet (1 meter) thick. At a
2-degree angle it looks over 42 feet (14 meters) thick! Position devices so that the
signal will travel straight through a wall or ceiling (instead of at an angle) for better
reception.
3. Building Materials can impede the wireless signal - a solid metal door or aluminum
studs may have a negative effect on range. Try to position wireless devices and
computers with wireless adapters so that the signal passes through drywall or open
doorways and not other materials.
4. Keep your product away (at least 3-6 feet or 1-2 meters) from electrical devices or
appliances that generate extreme RF noise.

3.4 Getting Start
1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on your PC to the LAN port on the
TEW-687GA .
2. Plug in the power adapter and verify the Power & Ethernet LEDs are light.
3. To configure the router, open your browser, type 'http://192.168.10.110' or
'http://tew687ga.trendnet/' into the address bar and click 'Go' to get to the setup wizard
page.
4. At the Password prompt, the User name is 'admin' and password is admin. Enter default
username and password and press “ok”

Setup Wizard is an easy way to set up the TEW-687GA step by step. The Wizard will teach
user to set up the TEW-687GA just few steps.
5. You could click ‘Import Setting’ button to restore your configuration setting by importing the
file, or press NEXT and follow Wizard to complete your setting.

[Step 1] Setup Network Settings
To set up the configuration of LAN interface, private IP of your TEW-687GA LAN port and
subnet mask for your LAN segment. Default IP is 192.168.10.110.
We suggest using DHCP Client mode as LAN connection Type that is to assure the setup
wizard is able to re-config after setup wizard complete.
[Step 2] Setup Wireless Settings
There are 2 options to configure this Gaming Adapter, WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) or Manual

setup.
[Manual Setup]- Select this option if you want to setup your network manually.
[Wi-Fi Protected Setup]- Select this option if you want to use Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

You can enter the Wireless Network Name of AP or use scan to find the AP.
Please input the correct security mode and security password.
