TREX BETAVIBE User manual

BETAVIBE
The BetaVibe is an analogue Chorus/Leslie effect that has been specially developed to produce a warm
modulating sound favoured by acoustic as well as electric guitar players.
To fully understand how the BETAVIBE works, please read the following guide that thoroughly describes
all functions and parameters.
The MIX knob determines the amount of processed signal in the signal mix.
- In Minimum position only the direct signal is heard
- In Maximum position only the processed signal is heard.
The VOLUME knob sets the overall volume.
At maximum level, the signal is boosted approx. 3dB.
The DEPTH knob controls the depth of the modulation
In maximum position the sound is bend to an extreme almost pitch shift-like effect.
The SPEED knob controls the modulation speed.
The MODE button controls the works of the SLOW/FAST, TAP TEMPO footswitch.

The SLOW/FAST, TAP TEMPO footswitch has 2 functions:
1) TAP TEMPO (works only with the MODE button in “up”-position) enables you to tap
the modulation speed while playing
2) SLOW FAST (works only with the MODE button in “down”-position) lets you increase
or decrease the modulation speed uently, -exactly like a real Leslie rotor. Press the
footswitch and the speed will slowly increase to the setting of the SPEED knob, press the
footswitch again and the speed will decrease to the slowest speed of the pedal.
The MIDI button controls whether the pedals should react on a MIDI signal (via the MIDI socket
on the side of the pedal), or the pedal should react on manual settings on the SPEED knob and
the SLOW/FAST, TAP TEMPO switch:
- In “up” position the BetaVibe acts as a typical oor pedal. Knobs and footswitches can be used
- In “down” position you can only via MIDI control following parameters:
1) TAP TEMPO (CTL. No. 22)
2) SPEED EXPRESSION PEDAL (CTL. No. 01)
In “down” position the SPEED knob and the SLOW/FAST, TAP TEMPO footswitch is deactivated.
The modulation speed is only controllable via MIDI.
3) ON/OFF (BYPASS) (CTL. No. 23)
Controls: MIX, VOLUME, DEPTH and SPEED.
Modes: MODE and MIDI
External control: MIDI IN
Connections: INPUT-Jack 6,3 mm. OUTPUT-Jack 6,3 mm.
Power supply: The pedal needs 12 volt AC. It has an internal power supply dependant
on the electricity in a given country: 100, 115 or 230V AC/50-60Hz
Effect usage: 100 mA. 3,7 Watts
Weight: 750 gram packed in box

REPLICA
The Replica has been specially developed to produce cool digital studio delay and the vintage warmth
of all-tube echo with the convenience of one pedal. Usually a delay pedal is placed at the end of a string
of effects.
The IN -plug accepts a guitar signal or a line signal (-10 dB semi professional equipment). So you can use
the pedal in a studio for vocals, which many musicians do.
The DIRECT -plug on the top side is an output plug. The signal is send directly through the pedal to the
DIRECT plug without disturbance. You can use this plug to:
- send the signal to a tuner
- send the signal to an extra amplier and get a stereo like sound, when playing two ampliers
- make a retro sound. You send the delayed signal using the OUTPUT plug to a stereo simulator,
that sends the stereo signal to two ampliers. You connect a third amplier using the DIRECT
plug. Retro sound!
The ECHO -knob determines the amount of processed signal in the signal mix.
- In minimum position only the direct signal is heard
- In maximum position only the delay (processed signal) is heard
The LEVEL -knob sets the overall volume.
At maximum level, the signal is boosted approx. 3dB.

The REPEAT -knob controls the number of repetitions of the delay signal.
- In minimum position the delay signal is only repeated once
- In maximum position the delay signal is repeated to almost innity
The TEMPO -knob sets the delay time. When power is connected to the pedal, it reads the setting of the
TEMPO knob, which determines the delay time until adjusted using the knob or the TAP TEMPO switch.
Minimum delay time is approx. 12 milliseconds. Maximum delay time is approx. 1500 milliseconds. The
LED indicator below the TEMPO inscription indicates the delay time. When the TEMPO -knob is turned
while playing, the delay signal is muted.
The TAP TEMPO -footswitch enables you to tap the delay time while playing. Just hit it twice.
The SUBDIVISION -button generates quarter-note triplets of the tapped or dialled-in tempo. First you hit
the button, then you tap the beat on the TAP TEMPO switch. When the beat of a song goes 1-2-3-4, the
echo goes 1-2-3. That’s called triplets. That’ll keep the echo of the guitar a lot clearer. It is easier to hear this
SUBDIVISION function using a drum machine keeping the beat 1-2-3-4.
The BROWN -button is a High-Cut lter that alters the tone of the repeats. The result is a warmer,
smoother delay sound reminiscent of the tone of a 60´s era tape echo.
The MIDI - socket allows you to control following:
TAP/TEMPO (CTL. No. 20), ON/OFF(Bypass) (CTL No. 21)
Size: Box 100x120x35mm + Switches/knobs on top 16mm + Knobs on bottom 3mm
Controls: ECHO, LEVEL, REPEAT and TEMPO.
Modes: SUBDIVISION and BROWN
External control: MIDI IN
Connections: INPUT-Jack 6,3 mm. OUTPUT-Jack 6,3 mm. DIRECT OUTPUT-Jack 6,3 mm.
Power supply: The pedal comes with an external power supply giving 12 volt AC and 300 mA.
The power supply runs on 100/115/230V AC/50-60Hz dependant on country.
Effect usage: 12 volt AC, 300 mA, 5 Watts
Weight: 727 gram packed in box + power supply packed in box 275 gram

PURIST
The T-Rex PURIST is a small low noise, high quality outboard bass preamplier, that really enhances your
tone. Just plug your bass into the PURIST and then go from the PURIST to your amplier/or to a board.
The PURIST has a clip that goes in your belt. Easy.
The PURIST is recommended for:
- all passive basses
- basses with active pickups and
- instruments that have active electronics, that can be bypassed
It also works great with all upright bass pickups.
The TREBLE knob is boost only. Flat response is with the control at complete counter clockwise position.
The BASS knob is boost only. Flat response is with the control at complete counter clockwise position.
The VOLUME knob controls the volume.
The BYPASS button activates or bypasses the PURIST. With the button released, the PURIST is bypassed.
If you are using a small amplier, excessive signal boosting might overload the preamp stage of the
amplier, causing distortion or clipping. In this case, use the VOLUME control on the PURIST to reduce
the gain input to the amplier.
